.:History:.
Ursula was born a siren.. the daughter of Poseidon. He had named her after a sea goddess, hoping she would grow up to have her strength, and beauty. Her mother taught her to sing when she was very young, as it was her mother's favorite thing to do. She would often sing in a land called Glowerhaven.. a place that Ursula always dreamed of going. That dream was put on hold after her mother's death.. She had been killed by a pirate, and for that, her father became bitter toward humans, and forced Ursula to use her beautiful voice to lure them to a watery grave. For too long, Ursula complied, but just before she killed another crew, she stopped luring them. It angered her father, but even though she tried to explain that her gift of voice was a tribute to her mother, and she didn't want to use it for something her mother would have disapproved of.
Upset at her father, Ursula stole a bracelet from his vault, one that belonged to her mother, that allowed her to have legs. She went to the surface, and got a job at a tavern as a waitress. She charmed the crowd with her voice, and earned money so that she could pay for her way to Glowerhaven. A pirate befriended Ursula, and offered her free passage to the island. The pirate was given a shell by posidon to trap her singing voice in exchange for squid ink, to get his revenge on the man who killed his beloved.. Ursula wanted to help, and so she stole the ink. Her father was enraged, and took the ink back, and it caused the Pirate to steal Ursula's singing voice away out of anger, so that she could never harm anyone else.
Heartbroken, and betrayed, Ursula used her father's trident to take the form of the very goddess she was named after.. Not wanting to be a mermaid any longer. She kept this form for a long time.. and she became a villain along with it. She befriended two other women that were also notorious for being cruel. Cruella De Ville and Maleficent. The three of them were sent on a journey from the Dark One that would ultimately, seemingly, led to Maleficent's death.
After the curse, Ursula ended up in New York City, working at an aquarium. She was sought out by Rumpelstiltskin yet again, for yet another journey.. This time, it was to Storybrooke, to resurrect Maleficent, and to allow villains to get their happy endings. Her's? Revenge.. but secretly.. she merely wanted her voice back.
With the help of Captain Hook, the man who betrayed her years prior and the other Residents of Storybrooke, she was able to get her singing voice back, and to reconcile with her father. Eventually, she forgave Hook, and went back to the sea.| ~ • ~ | Sample Post | ~ • ~ |
Ursula finally made it to Glowerhaven. It was as beautiful as her mother had said it was.. maybe even more so. People were absolutely enchanted by her when she sang to them. She would just spend her days, serenading children and the elderly, hoping to cheer up their days. They loved her there.. she had so many friends that she could hardly remember all of their names. Life was perfect.. so perfect.. until the alarm went off. Gasping, Ursula sat up and looked around her small apartment, filled with fish tanks. Taking in the sight made her depressed..and angry. This was the real world.. and the dream was merely that.. a dream. One that would never come true.
She stood up from her bed, and walked to the stove to put on some tea, using her tentacles to help her multitasking. One to grab a cup, another to grab cream, one to grab sugar, so on and so forth. She couldn't stop thinking about the dream.. even though it wasn't the first night she'd had it. She'd been dreaming of Glowerhaven since she was a young girl, still filled with hope.. Only now, it was a nightmare, as all of that hope was shattered. "Glowerhaven," she muttered to herself angrily. "Might as well be a fairy tale."
