Living in a funeral home was.. Werid. But Adeline had lived here as long as she could remember. She lived there with a man who she felt very close to.. Not in a romantic way, but she saw him as a paternal figure. She never could remember her parents. In fact, a lot about her past was fuzzy. Kiev, somehow, felt like the only family she had.. Even though they weren't related. She was merely his assistant. Kiev was a mortician, and she helped him by prepping the deceased for viewings, and also by just running errands or making Kiev's tea. She had also gotten in to the habit of cooking meals for him when he was too busy to eat on his own. It was only fair since she lived there that she earned her keep somehow.
It was in the middle of the day, and Adeline was making Earl Gray tea. She had just finished getting it ready, and putting it on a tray to carry to Kiev when suddenly, she felt a wave of something..strange washing over her. It all happened in an instant. She suddenly remembered... Everything. She remembered when she was eight years old and her entire family - her entire village, actually - perished in a plague. She remembered a man who saved her, and took her in as a daughter. She remembered.."Kiev," the tray fell to the ground with a loud bang.
She gasped and took a step back. "Oh! " She squeaked. To clean it first, or to rush to the man who had been the closest thing to a father that she ever knew?! "..Best to not let the floor get sticky. We don't want ants." She huffed and quickly went to the sink to get a rag covered in water to clean up the floor. There would be time for a reunion soon enough!

"My word! What is going on up here?" Kiev spoke as he neared the top of the stairwell, as he reached the top he saw Adeline kneeling on the ground wiping up what looked to have been tea. "Oh my, what a mess..." As he approached the same feeling washed over him. He stopped dead in his tracks, after a moment a small smile crept onto his face and he looked at Adeline fondly, if only for a brief moment. He knelt down to help pick up fragments of the tea cup. It was hard to resist hugging the girl, she had been there since their arrival in Storybrooke, but only as his assistant. He felt something deep in his gut...sadness? He wasn't sure but the girl who was the closest thing to a daughter had been at his side this entire time and he didn't even realize it. As that last thought ran through his mind, it began running wild. Who or what could have caused his loss of memory, and for soo long? Obviously some sort of magic. As he pondered this he caught Adeline staring at him as he held a hunk of the tea cup in his hand. Another smile crept onto his face and this time he was simply beaming.

Adeline didn't have to choose between cleaning the floor and finding Kiev after all.. He had come to see what the ruckus was, and he quickly started to help her clean. He hand't said anything yet, aside from commenting on the mess, but Adeline knew that he remembered her. It was the glimmer in his eye - it was faint, but it was still there - that told her he remembered. After a moment of him helping her clean up the cup, she suddenly leaped in to his arms, and flung her own around his shoulders. "Roman! I remember everything!" She spoke, clinging to him.
Sure, she had dropped the glass that she had already picked up all over the floor again, but it was worth it. She and Kiev never really made much physical contact while she worked for him.. It was inappropriate and weird. But now that she remembered who he was, and what he meant to her, she couldn't restrain herself. "I forgot you... How could I forget you? We must have been under some sort of spell!"

He was a little surprised by the girl jumping into his arms, and as she spoke he hugged her back for a moment, it didn't take long but he could feel the blood in his vains run cold and it was almost as if it were trying to claw it's way through to get to the girl. The hug was nice, but he had to make it brief, he didn't want to hurt her. They usually didn't make any physical contact but in this instance figured it was ok, he just hoped the contact was too long. The girl was...resilient for lack of a better term. In all the time she had known him, she had never seen his true form, and he never let her know of his accursed bloodline. But it wasn't necessary as she had never been afflicted. "Oi girl, I missed you too, but come now we have a mess to clean...again" he briefly nudged her as he finished speaking. Always the odd bird, whatever had caused the loss of memory and what caused it's return he did not know but it was comforting to know that her personality hadn't changed, not one bit. He had a few errands to attend to today but once they were done he was free to look I to the cause of everything. If there's something that powerful in this land then he would find it...he must. He wouldn't risk loosing her again, he would do anything to protect the girl he considered daughter. That...and a being or artifact that powerful was...enticing...

Adeline always knew that Kiev was never one for contact, but she never really knew why. Even when she was young and insisted on clinging to him, he would always find a way to back pedal out of the hugs. Luckily she was never hurt or plagued with any sort of sickness thanks to her natural immunities, but of course she had no idea of such things. She just figured that Kiev had a thing with touching living creatures - as he was just fine with poking, prodding, and dissecting the dead. She moved out of the hug, and smiled brightly at him. "It's good to remember you."
She quickly got to work, cleaning up the mess she had made, and when all of the glass was back on the tray it was time to dump it in the trash can. "How do you think it happened?" She asked, pouring the clanging bits of glass in to the garbage. "I remember.... there was a mist of purple that came through the village. There were dragons flying over head. It was..beautiful and terrifying at the same time.." She spoke, thinking out loud mostly. "So it must have been a very, very powerful spell."

"All I remember is a wall of smoke, sweeping across the land and then, waking up here" he rubbed his stubble a little "there's few I can think that would have had that kind of power." He looked at Adeline, "and I think I know who could have done it!" A small smirk snuck onto his face and quickly faded. "I have to know one thing Adeline, do you wish to stay? or do you wish to return home?" He stood up straight looking her dead in the eyes, "What you wish, I will do everything in power to make it so girl, just say the word" his face was rather intense as he finished speaking, awaiting her response. He had two conflicting desires, locked in battle beneath his surface. On the one, Getting her home if she wished it, or tinkering with a weakened evil queen. But was it retribution? Or greed that swayed his motives for the later? Either way he cared not...
