Goldie tapped her fingers against her cheeks tiredly as she peered out the window. Her father had been gone for hours and there was still no sign of the bears coming onto their land. The disgusting Huntsman for hire was downstairs, probably chomping at the bit to claim himself another head for his wall. The idea of him made her stomach turn with disgust. She couldn’t just sit here any longer. With determination, Goldie stood, grasping the sides of her dress as she hurried downstairs to find the man she had grown to despise so much in such little time. She peered around the corners as she came to them, careful that known of the workers in the house spotted her. Goldie’s father had made it very apparent to her that she was to avoid the Huntsman at all costs. Anything that came as a result of the bears had clearly been her fault in his eyes.
Goldie stepped into the kitchen was otherwise empty aside from the Huntsman. She narrowed her eyes with anger as she made her way toward him. “No matter how talented you may think you are at your despicable choice of a career.. You’ll never capture those bears,” she said, distain piercing through her tone as she watched the broad shouldered invader to her home. She lift her eyebrows, crossing the distance between them before trying to give him a hard look, “ You’re an animal. You are filthy, and vile.. You have no right to choose what lives and dies.,” she said accusingly as she stepped closer toward him.

WORD COUNT: 413 NOTES: TAKES PLACE PRE CURSE!
| There was a very specific reason that the Huntsman had take this job. He was usually hired to kill people, which suited him just fine. But this job, involved the killing of animals. The Huntsman had taken it so that no one else would and thus, fulfill the murder of these innocent animals. He'd sooner kill the man who hired him rather than the bears. All it took was him gently approaching them, talking to them in a way that no one who lacked the understanding and appreciation for animals could even begin to understand. Right now, he was waiting in the home of the man who hired him for the job, waiting for him to return. He was standing in the kitchen, a place that was empty, where he would not have to interact with anyone else in the household. Or so he thought.
This attempt to avoid everyone was failed when a woman came hurrying in, and started to scold and insult him. He didn't even flinch, nor change his expression. In fact, he hardly even looked at her. He knew who she was: the daughter of the man who hired him. And she was evidently upset with his line of work. Ordinarily, he would continue to ignore people who insulted him . . . but it was her insult of animals that he could not let remain undefended. That, was when he usually spoke up . . . or lashed out. In this case, it would most likely be the former.
He slowly turned to properly look at her, his face calm, emotionless, completely composed. His voice reflected all these things as well as he began to respond to her words. "Do not use animals, as an insult, nor words such as filthy and vile in the same sentence to describe them." She was insulting him by calling him an animal . . . that should not be an insult. "For animals are the most honorable beings to roam this world." Something that most people didn't understand. Evidently, she was no different. It was why he despised humans. The ignorance and arrogance. The superiority they felt over animals. It was revolting. "It is people who are the filthy and vile ones, and I would sooner kill your father than lay harm to a bear." It wasn't so much a threat, as a statement. He had no intention to kill her father . . . he was just making a point.

Goldie made a look of disgust as he spat back his own rhetoric at her. “ I have an utmost respect for those bears that my father hired you to slaughter. Don’t talk to me like you know me. You don’t know me. I’ve kept them protected since I was twelve years of age. You’ve just stepped foot into this household,” she said with anger in her eyes. She hardened her stance, not realizing how tightly her jaw had clenched itself when it came to her anger. “You think that you’re one with them, that it makes you better than the rest of us. It doesn’t. You aren’t the only one who appreciates animals. You are the only one in this room who smells like one.” she said testily before taking a few steps away from him.
Goldie clenched her hands together tightly as she paced throughout the room. Her father was going to expect that he kill the animals. And at that, he would want proof. She wasn’t sure what the Huntsman’s intentions were but surely he should be able to come up with something to appease him. Goldie looked over at the handsome stranger in her home out of the corner of her eye. He was a stubborn man, she could tell that. But at least he was genuine. She sighed out of annoyance, having found something other than his looks as appealing.
