DOING ABOARD MY SHIP
It was rather late and there had just been a shift change where the men who had been rested came on deck to relieve the ones who were practically asleep. Everyone took their positions and the ship continued on sailing smoothly. It had only been a matter of hours since they departed their most recent stop but thanks to the favorable currents and wind, they were well on their way to the next destination. Hook informed the others that he would go retire for the night, though he knew it would only be for a couple hours.
He hadn't gotten a proper nights sleep since Milah's death, and he imagined tonight would be no different. He made his way to his quarters but as he did so he heard a noise, as if someone was moving. He turned his head to look down the small hall. It seemed to be coming from their storage area. Which was odd. For the door was closed and as far as the captain knew, everyone was either asleep or on deck.
He made his way toward it, approaching it cautiously but without fear. He was no coward after all. He placed his hand on the handle of the door and in one swift motion, pulled it open to see what had been making such a noise . . . for as far as he was knew, no one had needed to enter the cellar since their departure. He stepped inside, his eyes scanning the area. Despite the darkness, he could see just fine for he knew every inch of his ship. "I know you're in here," he said, drawing his sword in preparation. "Show yourself," he demanded, his voice filled with authority and clearly holding no patience for having to ask again.
