It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Things were complicated. To say the very least. Milah had returned and not only that . . . she had returned, with their unborn child in her womb. Hook had never told a soul about that. As far as everyone was concerned, the only person he lost that day at Rumple's hand was Milah. But the truth was, she had been expecting a child. He had lost the love of his life and the chance to be a father. But he could no longer conceal that truth because, she was here in Storybrooke. And she was expecting their baby. He had to tell Emma.
They needed to talk about things because, truth be told, he hadn't the slightest clue as to what was going to happen now. He found her at Henry's castle which, was right now the best place to be. It was late at night so the area in addition to being secluded was also abandoned. It would also allow them to speak in private without any listening ears and prying eyes. He made his way there, climbing up it to join where she was seated on the top and promptly took a seat next to her. He remained silent, not quite sure what to say right now. What was going through her own mind, he wondered. Deciding he knew what they both needed right now, he reached into his pocket, pulled out his flask, unscrewed the top and wordlessly passed it to her.

There was one place Emma knew that she could go to decompress, and that was Henry's castle. She was sitting there, as she'd done a thousand times, just going over everything that had happened in her mind. She loved Hook.. she'd even told him so. Which..was an incredibly huge deal for her since she'd never even muttered those words to Neal before, and he was the father of her child. But.. now Graham was alive, and things were.. complicated. She had feelings for him, still. She couldn't deny it.. but she couldn't give up what she had with Killian..she loved him far too much. She was confused, and had no idea what to do.
It was as though he could read her mind..because Emma really wanted to see Killian right now. And now, here he was.. without saying a word.. merely holding his flask out to her. Wordlessly, she took the flask, lifted it up as if to say 'cheers' and 'thanks' all at once, and she took a long drink of it. She lowered it from her lips, flinching a little at the sting of the alcohol on her throat, and then she held it back out to him. No need to push it aside.. it was now time to talk. And from the looks of Killian..he had something to say, too.
"Graham...came back. I don't know how, or why.. but he's here. In Storybrooke. With his heart." She paused, and began kicking her feet lightly that were dangling off of the edge of the platform she was sitting on. "He kissed me... And I kissed him. I stopped it...and told him I was with someone..but you deserve to know." She could feel it. Her stomach was twisting in knots with guilt.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Several moments of silence lingered as the two seemed to collect their thoughts. She took the drink of rum as he just stared off, looking at nothing in particular as his mind flooded with various thoughts and his heart with several emotions. Emma broke the silence with a confession, as she spoke of how Graham had come back, that he was here with his heart . . . and that the two had shared a kiss. Now, Hook was nor ordinarly the jealous type. But perhaps that was because he had only been in two relationships that he truly cared about. So now, hearing that another man kissed Emma, brought forth emotions of jealousy that he hadn't even known he was capable of.
Was he angry? No. How could he be? Did he want to exchange words with the man? Most definitely. But he didn't want to upset Emma. Nor could he help the way he felt. It was similar to seeing Baelfire and Emma together, even if nothing had happened between them when he had returned to Storybrooke. And then there was August, where she had reassured him he was only a good friend. But this, Graham, knowing they had kissed . . . that he still cared for her and she for him . . . Hook could never admit it but he suddenly felt an insecurity that he never thought possible. He couldn't lose Emma. He just, couldn't. And would fight for her no matter what. But he also knew it wasn't fair to be the overly jealous boyfriend when he had his own admittance to make.
Sensing her guilt, he turned to look at her, and took one of her hands in his, casually holding it on her lap. "You care for him," he both questioned and stated. "I don't blame you, Swan." She had a past, just like he did. "Even if it makes me want to do rather unscrupulous things to him," he said with a slight smile, in a joking manner. He wouldn't of course . . . but, he was only human. He was just trying to somewhat lighten the tense mood, though was aware that there was nothing that could truly do that. "Tell me, what are you thinking right now?" He asked softly, wanting to know what thoughts were running through her head in regards to this man and well, everything else.

He seemed like he was fine.. but he wasn't, and she knew it. No matter what he said, she could tell that he was not okay with this whole thing.. After all, she was a human lie detector. Still though, it was nice of him to act as though he wasn't upset. She moved to the side, and she patted the spot right next to her on the platform, encouraging him to join her. "I do care for Graham.. and I always will. But I love you, Killian." At the thought of him doing unscrupulous things to her former...would-be lover, she shook her head with a small smile. "Careful on doing anything harmful. He's a sheriff too.. and I can't save you if you beat up a cop." She spoke teasingly, attempting to lighten up the mood.
He then asked her what she was thinking. Well..that was a difficult question to answer. She had to ponder a moment, just so she could pluck out one thought to concentrate on, that way she could answer him properly. "I'm wondering what will happen if more people come back. I'm sure they will... I can feel it in the air. I've been able to feel it all day.." She closed her eyes, and exhaled slowly. "What about you? You look like you've seen a ghost or two." She was teasing, but oh.. if she only knew how truthful that was.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Hearing her tell him she loved him would never fail to make his heart skip a beat. He had wanted to hear that from her for so long and knew how difficult it was for her to say. But they had reached such a level in their relationship where it was able to be verbally expressed, rather than just physically. "And I love you," he told her in return, not wanting her to doubt that for he knew soon enough, it would be his own turn for confessions.
"I know this must be difficult for you," he added. He knew full well. She encouraged the light tease, warning him that he too was a Sheriff and she wouldn't be able to help him. "Bloody hell, three Sheriffs in the same town. It's a pirate's worst nightmare," he said jokingly. His faint smile faded when he listened to her answer his question, saying that she felt there were more people, how right she was. And her streak did not end there for she further expressed that it looked like he had seen a ghost or two. Yes. Two ghosts indeed: one of Milah and one of their unborn child. He fell silent, knowing he had to be honest. Completely honest. But . . . where did he begin? "Milah," he said softly. "She's here as well." He looked at Emma, intently watching her reaction, starting with this, and then . . . he would have to go on to the next revelation.

Emma was appreciative that Killian was able to stick along with her and keep up the small bit of humor that they could find in this situation, but it wasn't going to last long. Especially since this conversation was a very serious one. He said that it must have been difficult for her, and she merely nodded silently. She didn't want to tell Killian of her inner struggles... it wouldn't be fair to him, or to Graham to speak about them to one another. However, it seemed as though he had his own confession. Milah was back.
Like him..she couldn't be upset. She had no right to be.. because she knew she had just finished locking lips earlier with Graham. Still though..she wondered what was going through Killian's mind. "Wow.." she spoke with honest shock. "So.. not just people who died in Storybrooke. Well, there goes that theory.." She breathed. She looked at him, wondering his thoughts. Was he still in love with her? What did this mean for them? She was honestly...very, very scared at what this could all mean. "So..what are you thinking about?"

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Emma expressed her surprise, saying that it wasn't just people who had died in Storybrooke. Truth be told, Killian hadn't even realized that; he hadn't quite theorized that far. But it made sense that Emma had. She was after all the Sheriff and Savior and was usually on top of things. Where as Killian . . . well, to answer her next question, there were a million things he was thinking about, and he knew he had to express these thoughts to her. He wondered if she would be upset with him, for not telling her about this earlier, about the fact that he would have had a child. Was it a lie? Was it one by omission? He didn't know. He supposed he was going to find out. "Emma, there is something I have not told you, or anyone for that matter." Losing Milah had been painful enough. How could he even begin to broach the subject of losing a child?
He paused in a thoughtful silence, mustering the courage to spill a secret that he had kept with him for all these centuries. One he never thought he'd ever have to speak of . . . that was, until now. He needed to just come right out and say it. "When Milah . . . died--" The phrase was still so difficult to say. "She was . . . carrying a child." Their child. "It wasn't just her I lost that day." It was their unborn baby. A joy that the Crocodile had deprived both of them of. And why? Because of his jealousy? His wrath? His anger? His corruption? Killian never hated anyone more than him for an innocent life suffered because of his cruelty. "And with her return . . . she carries it still." There. It was all out there now, and though Killian liked to think he knwe Emma incredibly well, he certainly didn't know how she was going to react to this.

Emma was silent while Killian spoke of how he had something to tell her that he'd never told anyone. What he actually said was something she hadn't been expecting. She was yet still silent, even after he had finished making his confession. She stared at him, and her mouth was slightly open. How was she to react to this? Not only did Gold, or rather Rumple, kill Killian's first real and true love.. but also his unborn child. And now, not only was that very woman back to shake the foundation of the relationship that she and Killian built for each other.. but she was still pregnant. She felt hurt.. angry. Why hadn't he told her? She had told him everything, even the things that hurt her most.
"I've told you everything," she reiterated her thoughts. "Things I haven't even told my parents.. And you didn't tell me about this?" This wasn't the first time he with held information from her. For a man who wanted to be with her, and no one but her, he sure did keep a lot of things from her. Or maybe she was over reacting.. either way, she was upset. "You don't think that it was important? Killian," she closed her eyes, and shook her head. "Now Milah is here, and she's carrying your child. And here I was feeling guilty for letting Graham kiss me." She looked away from him. What could she say? This wasn't a time to fight.. but she was flustered at this news. It could potentially ruin everything.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Emma was upset. And Killian couldn't blame her for that. She had indeed kept this from her, never thinking that it would come to haunt him like it did now. Yet, it was also difficult to bask in the joy of potentially being a father again. It was not that simple. None of this was simple. He remained silent, letting her finish speaking as he listened intently to her words. She was right. She had indeed shared everything with him, and he had not told her of this. He also figured this was probably a bad time to tell her and he and Milah also kissed . . . but couldn't keep that from her here. Still. One truth at a time.
"I couldn't tell you," he began to say, not trying ot justify himself, but at least trying to explain where he was coming from. "Because some things, are far too painful for even me to speak of." He paused, looking at Emma with a soft gaze, a look behind his eyes desperately begging her to understand. "It took me centuries to move past the death of Milah and our unborn child. Even then, the only reason I was able to . . . was because of you." Because she had helped him find his heart again; his humanity. The part of him that allowed him to feel something apart from anger and pain. "To speak of it, to speak of any past loss . . . is not easy for me to do." He hadn't even told her about Liam; she had heard that from David. "I never meant to hurt you by keeping this from you. But I just . . . couldn't." Because he had lost a child. That one day of losing Milah and the baby, made him feel like he had lost his entire life.

As Killian explained to her why he couldn't tell her about Milah and their unborn child, she inwardly cussed at herself from not being able to stay angry at him. How could she, though? It hurt him to talk about what had happened.. and she couldn't blame him. If she had lost Henry rather than giving him up for adoption...it would have absolutely gutted her. She understood.. and now, she felt bad for even being angry. "...I'm sorry.." She leaned in to him, and gently kissed his cheek, closing her eyes as her lips lingered against his skin. "I'm just..." Could she admit it? Could the big bad savior admit that she was a little nervous? "Kind of scared." She did! She opened up..despite not wanting to admit it.
"What happens now?" She asked, as she rested her head against his shoulder. She reached out for his hand and entwined her fingers in his own. "I'm assuming that you still have feelings for Milah...and that if..this is a permanent thing, you're going to absolutely need to be a father to the baby.." She lifted her gaze, staring at him curiously. "I don't know where to go from here..."

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION He felt a wave of relief when she no longer seemed angry with him, but also a surge of guilt for her feeling the need to apologize. He closed his eyes for a moment, basking in the sensation of her soft lips against his skin before she leaned her head against his shoulder, admitting that she was scared. And then asking him what happened now. He tilted the side of his head so that it was rested against hers that leaned on him. "Don't apologize," he said softly. "You have nothing to apologize for." He had a dark past, he knew this. But Milah and their child's death was also proof of his failure. He hadn't been able to protect his brother. He hadn't been able to protect Milah. And he hadn't been able to protect their unborn child.
It was partly why he was so determiend with Emma; determined to do whatever it took to make sure she was safe. Because he knew for a fact, that he would not survive the loss of her. "I have no idea," he said softly in response to her question. He knew her admittance of being scared was not easy for her to say, for she always held the brave face for the town.
"I think, we both have a right to be afraid right now," he told her, admitting that he too was scared of what could happen. To the ones they loved, to the town . . . but also, in terms of them. The two of them. She was saying that he had feelings for Milah, and that he had to be a father to the child . . . and, she was right, about both things. But nor did this diminsh any of the love he felt for Emma.
"What I feel for her . . . " He loved her. He would always love her. But, things were different. "I love you, Emma. And that has not changed." Even if he was to have a child with another woman, he loved her. "I can't lose you," he said, an underlying fear in his already emotional voice. He didn't know what to do either. He just knew he couldn't lose her . . . not after everything they've been through. Everything that had developed between them. Everything that they could be.

Even though things were complicated between the two of them, and there were obstacles to get past, but they could do it. Both of them were too stubborn to give up this easily. He loved Milah.. she cared for Graham.. maybe even loved him as well. But he was right.. things were different now. She was head over heels for Killian, and with how much it work for the two of them to get together? It wasn't about to get taken away because things went crazy in Storybrooke. They'd figure it out..and they'd do it together. She hoped...
He admitted that he was afraid too. She closed her eyes, and inhaled deeply. It took a moment, but she slowly exhaled and as she did, she squeezed his hand tightly. "You won't lose me, Killian." She lifted her head, just enough to look in to his eyes. "You worked too hard to convince me to be with you.. I'm not letting you out of it that easily." She spoke with a teasing tone. She had to keep the mood as light as possible.. She didn't want to break down and cry. She couldn't... not until she did her job and got some answers.
"We're gonna make it.. I knew that since the first time we kissed. I just didn't want to tell you..because you know. Your ego.." she gave him a small grin. She was trying to hide her fear. To be strong. But on the inside..she was trembling at what this all meant.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION She assured him that he wouldn't lose her and that brought him unimaginable comfort. He knew that he wasn't always worthy of her devotion. He had once been a villain, and had a past filled with darkness. And tonight proved just how much he was keeping from her. But she saw past all that. She saw who he was, or at least who he could be. He gave a slight smile when she told him that he worked too hard to convince her to be with him, and was not letting him out that easily. "You wouldn't be the stubborn lass I love you to be if you did," he said with the same, teasing tone. She further said that they were going to make it, and that she knew that the first time they kissed . . . but refraind from teling him due to his ego.
"Well that would have saved me a lot of trouble of chasing after you had you just told me then," he continuud to tease with a smile. Truth be told, it had all been worth it. The waiting, giving up his ship, chasing her to New York, dealing with suspicion, keeping the curse Zelena placed on him from her, returning to the past with her . . . every single obstacle they faced, made them stronger when she allowed herself to open up to him. "I had told you that I would win you heart one day, and now that I have," he said with a bit of a jokingly teasing tone before turning it into a more serious one. "I won't ever take it for granted." Meaning, he would not betray her; he would not dismiss their love. "I am as willing to fight for us now, as I was then. Because you Swan, are absolutely worth it."

Emma realized that she was holding on to Killian perhaps a little too much. She'd never been the clingy sort, but here she was.. her fingers entwined with his, her other hand wrapped around his bicep. It was as though if she let go of him, that he'd somehow vanish away from her. It was times like this, that made someone realize how much they loved the one they were with. "You're right.. You called it." She mused when he spoke of how he said that he'd win her over one day. Back then, she believed it, even though she wouldn't have even admitted it to herself.
"And.. I know you won't take any of this for granted. We both worked through a lot to get here.. but, Killian," She was saying this.. with a lot of pain. "What's happening between Graham and I has nothing on you and Milah. You two were both.. absolutely in love. For a long time.. You had an epic romance, and you're going to have a baby with her... I don't want you to take that lightly, either." She leaned in, and gave him a gentle kiss on his lips. She then gently rested her head against his and she closed her eyes. "Because that's the man I fell in love with."

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION She was absolutely right about that. They both worked incredibly hard to get to this point . . . and just when it seemed that things would calm down and they could continue to peacefully build their relationship, all this had occured. "Aye, that we did," he said in full agreement. Her next words were rather heartbreaking, hearing her say she understood the strength of his and Milah's relationship; that they had a strong romance . . . that they were going to have a baby together. To hear her say such things, showed the incredible and strong person he always knew her to be, which was of course part of the many reasons he loved her. She lightly kissed him and he closed his eyes for the short duration of the kiss, lightly squeezing her hand.
How a person could be so strong and selfless, was beyond him. And it made his heart swell with love and admiration for her. "I won't," he told her softly. "But I won't take us lightly either." He couldn't. "The fact that you are able to say these things Emma . . . I don't know what I did to be so deserving of your affections," he said with a soft smile. "That, is the woman I fell in love with," he added, using similar words as her. Selfless. Caring. Understanding. So many genuine qualities she possessed that had made him so very attracted to her; that made him want to fight with every breath in his body for her. He gently kissed the side of her head in a lingering embrace before slowly pulling away. "I feel this is just the beginning. That there is more to come. And we best brace ourselves for that." Who knew who else would return from the dead. But he had a strong feeling it didn't just end at Graham and Milah.
