After a while just sitting in the sand of the shore of this strange town – just out of reach of this creature – he finally thought he found the strength to go on, to find people. Hopefully someone could help him make sense of where and when he was. He did cross realms, so Liam expected anything, really. The people living in this town could know magic, or not, they could be completely oblivious to other realms of be frequent realm travelers. And most importantly: He had no idea what the time was. Given the Leviathans magic, it was not only possible, but probable that he outlived everyone he held dear, despite them thinking he had died long ago.
Still being on land after being with this creature for so long, still felt weird. His legs felt wobbly, but he managed to move along what he thought were streets, spacey and weird streets, but obviously streets. For a second he thought he saw movement, a person, walking towards him, stumbling and running away, but he could not be sure. It was too dark. The lamps in the streets though, confused him. How were the candles in them this white? How could the houses emit such steady bright light? He didn’t understand it. Every passing moment this place confused him more and more, but at the very least it gave him security. He was no longer close to water, the Leviathan could not reach him now. He was safe.
Noise could be heard eventually, the typical noise of a tavern. A tavern felt heaven sent, not for food, which he clearly needed, but for answers. A tavern meant people; those could explain where he was. Someone might be able to help him or not. He had to take that chance. What other choice did he have? Like the other houses this tavern seemed to glow as he stepped towards him and finally entered it. As soon as the door closed behind him all voices ebbed off, leaving him in complete silence, which every single eye fixed on him as it seemed. Suddenly the usually witty captain was at a loss of words, speechless like the patrons of this tavern.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Being a pirate, Killian often enjoyed frequenting a tavern and drinking to his heart's content. There was one problem with that however . . . he didn't have a heart to drink his fill to. But drinking was of course the last of his concerns. The Crocodile had ripped his heart from him with the intention of using him to work against Emma. The thought was sickening, and fortunately, it was not carried out in its full.
But that did not stop the other heinous acts he made him do. It was a servant to the Dark One, doing his evil bidding while he fooled the town of his chance. But Hook knew better; he had always known better . . . it was why the second he heard that Rumple offered a plan to Emma to get rid of her magic, he knew that it was not that simple. And now, he had to sit here, void of his heart, lacking control of his own actions.
With Rumple having no specific command for him, Hook put himself in a public place, away from Emma and the others so that he would not put them at risk. That, and the Crocodile had explicitly commanded not to say anything to her . . . which of course meant, he couldn't. He just sat at the tavern, an untouched beer in front of him as his mind went over the things he had done and the things he feared he would be forced to do. Had he possessed a heart, it most certainly would have been filled with guilt and self loathing.
A person's entrance rendered the area silent, and that was the only thing that caused Killian to turn around to see who it was. And the man he saw before him . . . caused the pirate's eyes to slightly widen in shock. Void of his heart meant he was void of all other emotions, but the surprise was there. For this, was surely an impossibility. He slowly rose from his chair, not even having realized he was able to move as his gaze fixated on him. "Liam?" He both questioned and acknowledged at the same time. What new cruel trickery was this? What darkened ploy? For this . . . was a whole new level of evil for someone to enact on him.

He could handle peoples stares, he could deal with it all. He would request help and information, maybe the owners would grant him a moment to rest his weary body and catch up with the aftermath of having freed himself from the Leviathan by a chance of luck. But when his name was called out, he followed the sound of a way too familiar voice. What were the chances? This was impossible, yet it had happened. The fate worked in truly mysterious ways.
“Killian? Brother!” He felt a rush of relief and happiness course through his worn body. Killian was here and he seemed relatively fine and intact – the shock of course was given, like the last time they met, when he was a slave to Leviathan and Killian barely escaped with his life. Being abandoned then still stung. His brother hadn’t seen and understood the fear gripping Liams heart tightly.
As he stepped forward, wanting to get closer to his brother, needing to embrace him, to hold him and never let him go ever again, he was surprised at how his body started to sway and his vision started to swim. What? It only took a moment for him to realize what was happening and how inevitable that was. Someone reached for him and softened his fall; that was the last thing he realized before everything went black.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION How was this possible?! How was his brother here?! It didn't make any sense, and Killian couldn't help but think of the possibility that his brother was just another illusion. Or a part of some cruel trickery. But why, that was the question. The Crocodile was already in possession of Killian's heart . . . who else would go so far as to manipulate the pirate in this way? Despite any misgivings the pirate would have otherwise had, he made his way over to his brother, though was quick to notice the way he moved and the lack of focus in his eyes.
Killian hurriedly made his way over to him and managed to catch him before he hit the hard ground. The crowd began to grow concerned as Killian held his brother in his arms. He gently set him on the ground, the pirate kneeling with his brother's head in his lap. He knew his emotions would have been incredibly overwhelming right now . . . yet he could not feel them. "Everyone clear out of here!" Granny announced and no one dared question the elder woman. The crowd began to disperse, as the woman called for an ambulance. "Liam?" Hook asked, his voice not holding as much emotion as it should have been. "Brother? Can you hear me?" He further inquired. He knew he was alive, he knew he was breathing . . . he just feared what this meant. What all of this meant. And that included what the Crocodile would do should it come out that Killian's brother was here.

Slowly, very slowly he became aware of a voice. Familiar arms were holding him while he lay on the ground, his head in a lap he was all too familiar with too. Killian. This was his brother. Once he held him while the poison almost killed him, now, so many years later he held him as his body came back to. Liams eyes fluttered open again. With every breath he took, he became more and more aware of his surroundings and also of how weak he felt. His body had been sustained by the Leviathan all this time. Now and after his escaped, he was weak, drained, but he knew he could recover.
“I hear you, Killian.” Liam moved, just a bit to get more comfortable, knowing that he would not be able to walk without help anyway. His body felt too weak for all of this. But now he saw his brother and that that gave him a different kind of strength. He survived and they were reunited again. Fate really worked in ways he’d never understand.
“Fate is funny, isn’t it? How long has it been brother? Decades? I thought I’d never see you again. And yet fate brought us together again. You don’t believe I’m an illusion this time, do you? Because I can assure you I am real and very exhausted.”

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Relief flowed over the pirate when Liam opened his eyes, verbally responding by assuring that he heard Killian. Hook heavily exhaled, expressing this relief as Liam went on to speak of how fate was a funny thing. How they had been separated for years only to now return to one another. He questioned whether he thought he was an illusion this time . . . assuring him that he was real. Was . . . had he been before?
"Fate can indeed be quite cruel at times as well," he said, clenching his jaw with suppressed emotions; ones he was incapable of expressing right now. Which was perhaps part of the reason that his tone wasn't as jovial as it would normally be upon such circumstances. His reason involved a certain Crocodile, using him to do his bidding. And Killian feared that his reunion with his brother would be short lived. Once, fate had pulled Liam away from him and Killian worried that it would do so once again, for Rumple made no secret of what he intended to do with Killian's heart once he was done using him.
"Liam, are you telling me . . . it was you?" He didn't know how to process this information. With his mind still functioning, he knew what he should be feeling, and predominantly, it was guilt. Guilt for leaving Liam on that burning ship. "I thought . . . " Killian had thought he was an illusion this entire time, but he had been real. And he had just left his brother in the shoals, at the Leviathan's wrath. "I made a terrible mistake that day," he said, speaking aloud his haunting thoughts. "I am so sorry." And he feared his apology would sound insincere without the use of his heart to convey the true emotions behind it.

So he honestly hadn’t seen it? A part of him was wounded by it, but then again, he had shown untypical behavior. How would Killian know that his fear of the creatures was now very, very real? Liam had no real strength in his limbs as he felt drained. No wonder after escaping the magical hold of a vile creature like Leviathan and then passing out. He probably needed a few days to recover from all of that. Still he managed to move his arms enough to roll up his torn sleeves to reveal the scars on them, that the burning ship left.
“It was me. The Leviathan held me captive all those years. That was why I was scared of the waters and the creatures inside. I … I couldn’t shake my fear of falling back into its clutches.” And then he did. But it caused him to survive. And for the first time in all those years, he had his brother close again without a single doubt of them being real, at least he hoped so. Because he was very real and probably unable to even get up, if he wanted to. “Killian, I understand your decision. You had a crew to care for and I acted uncharacteristically, I know that. How could you know what caused it? You did what a captain had to do: Protected your crew.” And that perhaps saved their lives that day. So, he was glad of it. Killian lived and that was all that should ever matter to his older brother. “You don’t happen to have water, brother? Apart from feeling weak, I feel like a dried out fish right now.”

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Killian felt sick to his stomach when he saw the scars on his brother's arms. He wondered just how many Liam's body was covered with. The selfish part of Hook was almost relieved that he didn't have a heart . . . but no. He wanted it back in his chest, so that he could experience all the emotions of being reunited with his brother. Damn Crocodile. Would the creature continue to deprive Hook of all his loved ones? As Killian looked intently at the scars, his jaw clenched, thinking of how much pain his brother must have been in . . . and when he had the power to save him, he had just sailed off.
He couldn't imagine the torture that his beloved brother had endured for all those centuries. "I'm sorry," he repeatedly quietly, the words so insufficient; so inadequate. He wanted to ask what the Leviathan had done to him, but also felt like a coward in this moment . . . for he feared the answer. And then, just like his brother would, he began to justify Killian's decision for leaving. "I may have done what a Captain would have, but I failed in doing what a brother should have." Which was have fought harder and not been so afraid of the truth, or disappointment. Killian knew he had been weak that day, just as he was weak enough to let Rumple take his heart. "And that role, takes precedence over being a captain." For being a brother was far more important, and he had clearly not been a very good one to Liam. He had left his brother in the wrath of the Leviathan, causing him to feel that fear and God knows what else for all those years.
He then asked him for water and Killian felt even more foolish for not considering his brother's need for it. Fortunately, Granny was thinking with a far clearer head and the moment he had said it, she was extending a cup filled with the liquid to him. Killian took it with a nod of gratitude and brought it to his brother's lips to help him to drink it. "You're safe now," he said in a quiet voice. "I won't let anything else happen to you." With that promise suddenly came the fear -- or whatever Killian could experience with his missing heart -- of his enemies in this town. Mainly, one particular enemy. "Does anyone else know you are here, Liam?" He asked. Hook hated to admit that Liam may not be safe with him, but he would rather die than cause any further harm to his brother. He was already responsible for so much. Perhaps once he was taken to the hospital, he could be better protected.

“It doesn’t. As a Captain you’re responsible for many lives. You saved them when you left me behind.” He saved those people and protected them and did not doom them to a painful long death. Liam too survived. Nobody died, it was a greater achievement than that of many captains. Unknowingly he saved the lives of Liam, his crew and his own. Liam had to give him credit for it. In the end this was Killians achievement, that they could not reunite as this now, only his, did he not see?
Liam couldn’t help but note the irony of the situation. Back in the day, decades, centuries ago he would bring a cup with liquid to his brothers lips when the younger was sick or injured. He’d spend so much time caring for him, even refusing to go on a mission when he knew his brother needed care – despite Elizabeths presence. Now his brother helped him drink. Even the assurance of him being safe now sounded familiar yet reversed. “Shouldn’t I be the one saying that?” He was the older brother after all.
“No. I… I came straight here when I washed ashore. I thought a tavern would be… the best place to seek help in. I didn’t even know you were here.” Yet fate had weird way of working. It brought him here of all people, brought them together after all this time. He was glad, though. All those years he had longed to see his little brother again, to know he was fine and now he did. "Why?"
