The high note. It was Casey's very own slice of heaven. He worked hard to own his own Jazz club, and oh, was that place swingin'. The band was always in perfect harmony, and the singers always on key.. Well, mostly always. Karaoke night was always a hoot and a half.. but as long as the people were having fun, he was doing his job right. Currently, he was setting up for the night. People were starting to roll in, but it wouldn't get busy for awhile now. He was testing out one of the new mouthpieces he'd ordered for the horn section - the instrument he held now was the saxophone. He played, and played, waiting for the others to warm up. To him, there was no one else around.. It was just him, baring his soul through music.
He was in the middle of his favorite section of a song when he opened his eyes to see a set of legs walking in that would make a normal man's heart stop. Luckily for him, he was no normal man. He was Casey Abraham.. ladie's man, extraordinaire. His eyes made a trail from the girl's shoes, along her legs, up to her knees, and finally to her face. Damn...his weakness. A pair of gorgeous eyes. This would be the death of him. He gave a wink to the girl, hoping to catch her attention, and then he finished his song. Once he was done, he held the saxophone out to one of the other members of the band. "It plays real nice, Lou." He patted the man's back with a grin. "I've gotta go start entertaining guests."
Casey made his way over to the girl, and he grinned. "Never seen you in here before.. and I'd never forget a pretty face," he mused with a smirk. "Can I get you a drink? We're a little low on bartenders at the moment."

Rose stepped inside The High Note, not realizing that it was almost as though you were stepping into an entirely different reality. She brushed her hair from her face before lowering her hand to grasp the clutch that she was holding in front of herself almost protectively. Going out to bars wasn’t exactly something that Rose considered herself doing normally. The week had been long, and she’d been dying to wear her dress out. It seemed as good a time as any to throw back a couple of drinks and paint the town red. The music was….in a word? Phenomenal. She looked up at the stage, trying to spot if she knew any of the players before she noticed that the man with the saxophone had thrown a wink in her direction. She smiled slowly, though narrowing her eyebrows at the act. It seemed well-rehearsed, as though throwing out winks and grins was a part of his daily routine. And judging by the aura that exuded from him, she was assuming that more often than not, it worked for him.
Rose finally tore herself away from looking at the band on stage so that she could maneuver her way toward the bar counter. This didn’t seem like the place that she could just order a glass of wine, or beer. The music, the energy, was so pure and vibrant. She felt like she was doing it a dishonor if she didn’t have something a little more unique. Rose tore herself away from her thoughts as she heard a smooth talking voice. A slow smile placed itself upon her lips as she turned to look at him. Oh. He was good at this. “ Ah, thank you,” she said, feeling the slight blush come across her cheeks. Even if it did seem obvious that he was good with lines, being called pretty wasn’t something she found herself used to. She lift her eyebrows as he continued to speak, surprised that he was the entertainment as well as step in bartender. “Um.. I’ve never had an Old Fashioned. There’s something about this place..” she said, quietly, almost to herself as she took one last look around over her shoulder before looking back into his eyes. “it’s sort of magical on its’ own within Storybrooke,” she said, placing her clutch onto the counter. “Are you as good at your bartending skills as you are at music? That was really brilliant,” she said, smiling at him again as she took a seat at the bar.

It didn't take long for Casey to see that this girl wasn't like the rest of them that came in. Jazz groupies were easy to spot. They made sure they wore the right kind of clothes to get noticed, and they had a way of sashaying through the joint like they owned it. Not this girl, though. She didn't seem entirely shy, but she wasn't overly flirtatious. It intrigued him. "An Old Fashioned, you say?" He asked with a smirk. "You're speakin' my language, gorgeous." He was impressed. Most girls came in here and ordered fruity, frilly drinks. He quickly grabbed a glass, and began collecting the ingredients, all while holding up a conversation. "Well, I'm glad you like the place, darlin'. It's my home away from home.." Actually it kind of was his home, in a way. He lived in an apartment upstairs from the place.
He was finishing up making the drink, pouring the bitters over a sugar cube, when she asked if he was as skilled of a bartender as he was a musician. "I guess I should let you be the judge of that, hmm?" He quirked a brow and gave her a grin. After adding a slice of orange, and a cherry to the glass he held it out to her. "One Old Fashioned, on the house. First time drinks are on me."

Rose couldn’t help the smile that illuminated her features as he called her gorgeous. Man, he was slick. And though she knew it was a tactic he probably used frequently and nightly, she had to admit that it worked. He was making her feel like she was the only girl in the bar, and that seemed like a good goal to have in order to get people to keep coming into your bar. She looked over her shoulders back at the place as he called it his home away from home. Rose wished she could find something like that in Storybrooke. But nothing felt like home outside of the Enchanted Forest. She looked back over, watching him make the drink. A small portion of her was deciding whether or not it was crass to check a man out while he was working on a drink for you, but he was pretty dashing. Plus, she fervently motivated her other friends to go out of their comfort zone and strike up conversations with attractive people.
Rose lift the side of her lips up into a smirk as he suggested that she could be the judge of his drink making skills, with a grin. He had an appealing grin. She caught herself staring at his lips for a moment longer than she should before registering that he was saying all of the first drinks were on him, “That must get sticky.” she said without thinking. Don’t try to be funny to the man you think is cute, Rose, she thought to herself. “I…” she started before laughing quietly. “I don’t usually come into bars.” she said, giving a single nod. “ And you’re very… handsome. And clearly skilled at this.” she said, alluding to the way he could easily talk to women, but then gesturing to the drink to try and hint at his bartending skills as a means to hide some of her embarrassment.

Casey usually had a gift with reading people..but this girl was some kind of wild card. He didn't know what her story was, but he was itching to find out. Those eyes, that smile, and the mystery of a gorgeous woman who strutted in to a Jazz Club ordering an Old Fashioned.. this girl had definitely caught his interest, and he doubted that any other girl would come in to take that focus away. Luckily for him, another bartender was coming in soon and could take care of the drinks while he continued this conversation. Of course.. that was if he didn't scare her away with his oddball charms, first. When he mentioned drinks being on him, and she said her little joke, he chuckled. "Oh, don't you worry about that, gorgeous. I like things sticky." He gave her a wink. Oh yeah.. he was in the zone tonight for sure.
She didn't usually come in to bars.. Well, that was a treat. "Really now? Well, lucky me that my place is the one you strolled in to tonight.. because if I missed out on your beauty.." He leaned over the bar with his arms resting on top of it. "Tonight would have been painfully upsetting. Imagine me, walking down the sidewalk, seeing those gorgeous golden locks and not being able to hear your thoughts. Ain't it a tragic thought?" He looked so innocent.. but he wasn't. He wasn't exactly being dirty, either. He was just captivated.. and he needed to see what made this girl tick. "Do you dance?"

Rose kept her fingers tucked around the glass, holding onto it tightly, as her eyes focused intensely on the handsome man who was now leaning on the bar counter between them. She couldn't stop the smile that crossed her lips as he called her beautiful again, dropping her head so that her hair slightly covered her face. Why was it always so embarrassing when people found you attractive? " It's a devastating thought," she teased with her tone as serious as she could possibly muster it to be. When he asked if she danced, she bit the edge of her lip, subconsciously tracing the top of her glass with her fingers. " I think I do now," she conceded, standing up from her bar stool.. She brought the glass to her lips, drinking it more quickly than she imagined a drink so carefully made like that should be. But she also had a feeling that if she got on the dance floor with him she might not want to return to her drink.
The alcohol was sweet at first because of the bitters, which made it sting a little more once the initial sugar nature of it wore off. She looked over at the handsome stranger, wondering if he shared the same tendency. She set her clutch down on the counter, unsure of what else she could possibly do with it before taking a small step back. If she had never been into a bar like this before, she surely didn't know how to dance to jazz music. But she had a feeling that was something else that he would prove to be very good at, even if she wasn't. "You sure you don't bite?" she questioned teasingly as she lift her eyebrow in his direction.

Casey enjoyed it when women responded to him like this. Of course, it didn't happen half as often as he would have liked..but this time, it worked..and he was thankful for it.. For he was honestly captivated by this beautiful woman. She mused that she danced now..and he smirked. "Good answer," he nodded to one of the bouncers who was a rather large man in a suit that looked like he stole it off of a gangster from the 1930s, and the man stepped a little closer to the bar, making sure that the lady's clutch would be safe. Casey then leaped over the bar, on to the dance floor, and he took the woman by the hand, pulling her close to him. You sure you don't bite? She asked.. and he replied in the only way he saw fit. "Only if you ask me really nicely, angel eyes." He twirled her away from him, and then spun her close once more with ease.
"Tell me..what's your name? I of course don't mind calling you pet names during our conversations, but i'd much rather know the name of this beauty in my arms..." He smirked again. He wasn't trying to do anything.. questionable. His intentions were honestly pure, even though it didn't seem that way. What man wouldn't want a conversation, a dance, and maybe a little kiss on the cheek from such a gorgeous flower? He knew it'd sure make his night. "Let me put you at ease.. the name is Casey Abraham.. or in another life.. Thomas O'malley. That's what I go by these days.. O'malley."

Rose was surprised by the small laugh that passed through her lips as this charming musician slash bartender continued to enchant the conversation, throwing out quick little quips, making her blush at the suggestion of him biting if she asked politely. Once she realized that her belongings were going to be watched by the bouncer she found herself surprised yet again by him twirling her and bringing her close to him. At first she stepped clumsily, almost caught off guard, before she placed one of her hands around the back of his neck. He had a much more muscular frame than she had anticipated. Rose could count the number of times that she was left speechless in her entire life on one hand. And yet here she was, stammering like an idiot because some smooth talking bartender thought she was pretty, and talked to her so sweet that his words almost sounded like honey.
Rose looked up, smiling at him as he jested about calling her pet names, only to break the tension a bit by introducing himself. “O’Malley itself even sounds musical..” she said with a slight lift of her eyebrow. “ I guess.. here.. I am Rose Hunter,” she said, giving a slight nod. It was odd, really, to introduce yourself with two names. But wasn’t what this had created? A place where they could live two separate lives, learn from their mistakes, try and do better? “In the forest… I was Goldie Lockes..” she said, scrunching her face up a bit. After a moment, she shrugged her shoulder, adding softly. “ But you can call me whatever you like, O’Malley,”
