Emma was exhausted. There was a whole day of hosting several different representatives of Kingdoms they were not yet aligned with, and it was up to her and her family to entertain their guests. They were on their last group, and Emma was tasked with showing the youngest brother - the Lieutenant Killian Jones - around the grounds of the castle while the King hosted Liam and Snow did the same with Elizabeth. It certainly wasn't the most horrible thing she'd been tasked with. In fact, the man whom she was guiding was quite handsome, and..there was something that drew her to him that she couldn't quite understand.
She would have likely been entirely more flirtatious with the young man, but there was another on her mind. She was still thinking about her plans that night of how she would climb out of her window, down one of the terraces, and off to find the mysterious masked man..but she had no idea how she would even begin doing such a thing. "So, this is the garden.. it's not incredibly exciting but if you like roses and apples we have an incredibly wide variety." She gave him a small smile, trying to lighten the mood. He probably didn't want to be stuck walking around with her.. A Lieutenant in the royal navy of his kingdom probably had a wife and a family to get home to.

a hero's journey THAT IS INDEED GOOD FORM With the Masquerade ball celebration over, the next day brought forth the formalities of being a guest in a kingdom. It was actually quite gracious of the royal family to take the time and show himself, Elizabeth and Liam around their castle grounds. Elizabeth and Liam were with the king and queen and Killian was being escorted by the princess herself. He supposed it made sense; couples with couples and well, them. She was undeniably beautiful, and had she not been royalty . . . Killian would certainly have tried to charm her and offered her words of flirtation. But alas, even he was not so foolish as to try and woo a princess.
His hands were claspd behind his back as he politely walked along side her, listening to her speak of the roses and apples. His mind went to the mysterious Swan woman of last night, who had told him of the apple trees the royal family grew. The mere thought of her brought a smile to his lips. Perhaps he could ask the princess if she knew of the woman; the woman clad in white. He still recalled every single detail of her . . . including how she felt.
He found himself longing to see her again and felt horribly rude for his mind being set upon another when the princess was showing such kindness to take out time to give him a tour. "It's incredibly beautiful," he complimented sincerely. They were nearing the mistletoe . . . which only caused his smile to remain. "I have never seen such lush gardens." Another truth, for he had to speak rather than just remain mute, distracted with his own thoughts. He was in the presence of royalty after all.

With the cherry trees, came thoughts of mistletoe and the conversation she and the stranger named James had the previous night. She hoped that she didn't seem too distracted.. She was the Princess representing her kingdom. She smiled when he spoke of the lush gardens. "Really? Well, i'm glad that I could show you ours." She walked toward one of the cherry trees, and knelt down, picking up a sprig of mistletoe. She studied it for a long moment.. it made her miss him. She felt heart instantly ache.. longing for the man from the night before. She hoped she wasn't being to clingy, or strange in her thought process. She wondered if he was still thinking of her, though.
"Mistletoe," She walked toward the man, keeping a bit of distance between them. "You know, Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it." She reiterated the information she heard from James the previous night. She hadn't known that before.. it was a fact that he had told her. But it still stuck with her.. as did the phrase that she said back to him.

a hero's journey THAT IS INDEED GOOD FORM They finally came across the mistletoe as she pointed it out. His mind was filled with thoughts of the white goddess he had spent last night with. He was only half listening to the princess which he knew was dreadfully rude, but he couldn't help it. "You know, mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it." "Ah, but a kiss can be deadlier if you mean . . . it . . . " His voice trailed off, though he somehow managed to finish the sentence.
He suddenly looked at the princess, all thoughts snapping back into the reality of the moment. His lips slightly parted with surprise, his eyes slightly widening with shock. She had said something to him that he had said to Swan last night . . . and he had reiterated the response she had given him. And . . . judging from the princess's reaction as well, there was a very obvious reason for that. Killian suddenly felt as if his heart was going to explode in his chest with the rapid speed it was beating at. She . . . no. This couldn't be. It was . . . her? He looked at her, really looked at her. And he could see it. Her beautiful hair; her captivating eyes. Her perfect figure that he shouldn't even be staring at right now. "Swan?" He questioned, as if needing to say it in order to make it real. Oh. Bloody. Hell.

Emma felt as though time came to a halt. A kiss can be even deadlier if you mean it. Only one person had she ever said that to. The look on his face said it all. She was picturing it now. His voice.. his eyes.. how could she have not known?! It was only because she was too distracted thinking about him, that she didn't see him standing right in front of her the entire time. She wasn't prepared for this.. This isn't how she wanted him to find out who she was. Would he be angry? Would he run? She just stared at him for a long moment, until he had said the name she told him to call her. Another thing that only one person would know. Swan?
The way he said her middle name still sent chills of excitement through her body. "James.." she spoke as though the wind was knocked out of her lungs. "It's you," she took a step closer to him, dropping the mistletoe on the ground at her feet. There were so many things to say that she didn't know where to start. It was time now, for an apology. "I'm so sorry I didn't tell you last night.. But I just.. I didn't want to ruin it. And I know that you would have..." she was rambling. She didn't know what to say, or do, or how to act. She wanted nothing more than to see him again, and here he was. A guest of her family's, at her castle. "I was going to try sneaking out to find you tonight.. To tell you who I was.."

a hero's journey THAT IS INDEED GOOD FORM She said the name he had given her last night and everything was solidified. It was her. He couldn't bring himself to speak as she explained herself, apologizing for not telling him earlier . . . saying that she wanted to sneak out to try and meet him. His throat felt dry, unable to form words. For, all he could think about was that . . . he had taken the Princess's virginity in the stables. Oh bloody hell. She would be married to another royal one day and what would happen if it was discovered she was unpure? What would happen if their one night resulted in a child?! Such thoughts had not ever Killian's mind previously, for he had believed Swan to be a noble. He had believed her to be attainble; someone he could actually be with.
But now . . . that hope was sucked out of him and it left his heart aching, amidst the shock of it all. "You . . . have nothing to apologize for my Lady." She was apologizing to him?! She was a princess! She held the entitlement to do as she so pleased. "If anyone should apologize it should be I." He had to force himself to stop longingly gazing at her, knowing it was entirely inappropriate. So instead, he slightly lowered his head out of respect. "I didn't . . . it was completely inappropriate to take you to the stables in such a manner." He didn't regret it. How could he?! It had been the most wonderful night of his life. "I hope that you can see it in your heart to forgive me for being so reckless, but I understand if you can not." He had bloody taken her virginity! His brother was going to be furious. And her parents! They were guests in their kingdom and he had pushed her against the wall of the stables! All he could do was stand with bated breath, knowing he would have to brace himself for the aftermath of this all.

Ah.. there it was. The panic. The dread. Everything that came with the territory. "Don't," she spoke pleadingly. "Please.. don't freeze up on me.." She reached out and took him by the hands. They were in a shaded area of the gardens beneath the trees, so they wouldn't be seen unless they were alerted by the sounds of voices from the distance, first. "I didn't tell you last night because I wanted to be with you.. and I knew that this would happen. I knew you would start to panic, and you'd run away. Please.. don't run."
She moved in closer to him. She was desperate to kiss his lips once more, but the situation was reading more like he was going to turn tail and run away from her. "It was me, who took -you- to the stables if you remember correctly... I wanted it. It wasn't something you convinced me to do." She gently bit her bottom lip, suddenly feeling nervous. As if her entire world was about to crumble. Things were different in her kingdom, she supposed, than many others. Her mother and father believed in her marrying for love, rather than status...but she wasn't thinking about that right now. She was just hoping that he would stay with her...until he had to leave.

a hero's journey THAT IS INDEED GOOD FORM She was telling him not to freeze up on her and . . . he wanted to comply. He should, considering her position of authority, but he was feeling far too . . . well, too many things to be able to pin point and describe. Feeling her take his hands caused a wave of emotions to course through him. The comfort of her touch was undeniable. He wanted to pull her towrad him and kiss her -- something he thought he would be able to do when they met again.
But now, it seemed that everything had changed. She was asking him not to run and well . . . it was fairly forunate he was far too shocked to even move right now. He didn't want to run from her. He wanted to be with her. But this selifsh thought was far too unlikely, that he didn't even dare consider it. "It was something I wanted too," he shamefully admitted. How could he have not wanted it? She was beautiful; a beauty that radiated from inside out.
He knew it was dangerous but he raised his gaze to meet hers, trying to force himself to keep a rational mind and not get lost in those breathtaking eyes of hers. "You are a princess. You should not have been taken in the stables the way I . . . " He slightly shook his head, swallowing, feeling like a damn fool for what he did. And yet, he still couldn't rgret it. "You will one day rule this kingdom. You will one day be a Queen. And I . . . cannot be a king." He wasn't sure how they had even leapt to marriage, but courting her, properly, had certainly been on his mind. "I have nothing to offer you, My Lady. And I . . . had no right to take your virtue." He had no right at all. He was not her husband, not her lover, not could he ever be. The thought brought him more heartache than he could have imagined.

He hadn't hurried away yet.. Perhaps this was a good sign? In fact, he had admitted that what they shared in the stables the previous night was something he wanted as well, which meant that even though she was sure he was reprimanding himself internally, that he did not regret the action, but rather where, and how it was done. The moment he met her gaze, she felt her heart kickstarting in a way that she had only ever felt the night prior. Something she hadn't felt before, and while he was trying hard not to get lost in her eyes, she was being captivated by his. The most beautiful color of blue she'd ever seen.
He was explaining to her that he should not have taken her virtue, and made it clear that it really shouldn't have happened where it did. To Emma, the moment had been perfect..she hoped that his regret wouldn't taint the memory for either of them, as it was one of the best she'd had in a long time. He then proceeded to tell her that he could not one day be her king, nor did he have anything to offer her. Emma had a cockiness about her that likely stemmed from her mother's rebellious side that made her instantly begin to smile. Yes.. smile, in a situation like this. "One night and you're already thinking of marrying me one day? I must have made quite an impression."
It was better than being sad. Anything was better than being sad. "Things are different in every kingdom, Liutenent Jones. And.. in mine.. status has never been important." She moved closer, still holding his hands. She recalled a story that she was told about her father.. how he was technically a prince, of course, but he had grown up a farmer, away from the castle, not even knowing that he was royalty. But.. that was something no one was ever really supposed to know, and so she kept that a secret from him for now. "I have everything anyone could want, except for the one thing you -can- offer me." She leaned in, closing the gap between them, and she gently kissed his lips. It was a soft, light kiss at first, so he could pull away if he so chose.

a hero's journey THAT IS INDEED GOOD FORM She called him out on his comment about marriage and he felt a bit silly for being so presumptuous -- even though her words were said in a teasing nature. Had she not been a princess, then he certainly would have flirted and entertained the notion. But now . . . how could he? "Forgive me, My Lady, I did not mean to presume such a thing," he said politely. "I merely meant that to . . . pursue you, may be in vain." Because how could a princess marry a man who . . . wasn't even a noble? He was from a simple family, and had worked his way up to the ranks. Even then, he wouldn't have been able to do so without his dear brother. So what could he possibly offer the princess? She told him that things were different in her this kingdom and that status had never been important. Did she truly feel that way? What about the king and queen?
No. He couldn't think such things, for this kind of hope was a dangerous one to possess. He feared the disappointment it would lead to. She then told him that she had everything she wanted . . . except what he could offer her. Surely, he was not that valuable. And yet, she seemed to become everything to him in such a short amount of time. He was about to open his mouth to speak, but his lips were met with hers and he instantly reacted to the kiss. It felt as incredible as ever, the sensation of her touch and his hand went to her cheek, gently caressing her soft skin with his thumb. It felt perfect; this felt perfect, but the moment he slowly eased out of it, realization came crashing down and reality caused him to be hesitant. He rested his forehead against hers, trying to determine the right words to say. "You are destined for greatness," he told her. He knew the rumors to be true of her parents, and she would follow in their footsteps. "And I will not be the reason you can not achieve it." He would hinder her, undoubtedly. What if others rejected his status? What if alliances would crumble because of this political move? He knew it was selfish to want to be with her, for she had an entire kingdom to consider and he could not ask her to jeopardize anything just for him.

Emma was stubborn..possibly even more stubborn than the Lieutenant that was standing before her. He seemed to be stumbling over his words after she called him out on the marriage comment. She didn't mean to make him uncomfortable, she was merely teasing...but she saw it put a bit of a strain on him and it made him feel bad. So bad that he started apologizing. "Killian," she gave him a small smile. "It's okay." she tilted her head slightly, smiling at him. "I knew what you meant." He was going to be a tough nut to crack, but.. she hoped that he would give it a chance. However, by the way he was talking, that didn't seem like it was going to be an option.
When the two of them kissed it was just like the night before. Magic. Whenever the kiss ended, he proceeded to tell her what she was destined for, and spoke of how he wouldn't be the reason she didn't reach it. A sigh of breath escaped through Emma's nostrils. It was frustrating, the way he thought he knew exactly what she was going to be one day. Destined for greatness.. it depended on who's eyes that was seen through, didn't it? "You know.. for me being royalty, I don't think anyone has told me what I will and will not do more than you have right now, Killian." She had almost called him 'James' several times because of habit thanks to the previous night's events.. but she rather liked how the name Killian rolled off her tongue instead.
"You're only holding me back if you deny me, and yourself, what we both want. Things work differently here than they do in other kingdoms.. This kingdom is ran on love, no matter what the status. Don't push me away because of who I was born as.." She wanted him to hold her.. to kiss her.. to love her.. but she wondered now, if he would ever let himself do that.

a hero's journey THAT IS INDEED GOOD FORM She told him she knew what he meant and he felt rather relieved about that. The last thing he wanted to do was assume that he was someone she would want to marry. Though he knew her words had been a tease . . . she was royalty, and this fact was not so easily forgotten. She then told him that no one had told him what she would and would not do more than him. Once again, he felt as if he had stepped out of line. "Apologies, My Lady," he quickly said. "I should not have spoken so boldly. It is not my place." He really needed to put himself in check. He had already taken her in the stables . . . and his words were helping matters either.
If they were over heard, he was fairly certain he would have gotten in trouble by now. "I don't want to," he admitted softly when hearing her ask him not to push her away. "Is it possible . . . for the next few days . . . to just be who we were in the stables?" He paused, realizing how that sounded. "I mean, not exactly like that." He should be thinking this through far better than he actually was. "What I mean is, can't we just be two people. Getting to know each other." This was far too bold of him. She was a princess! "I mean . . . if you are alright with that. Because, even as I stand here now, knowing you are royalty, I find myself unable to resist your company." He knew this was selfish and if he was caught or found out, it would not be good . . . yet, he felt so drawn to her and no matter what his mind was telling him to say, his heart was making him do something entirely different.

Emma noticed that Killian was full of apologies. He was cute when he was being apologetic, though. Then again.. he seemed like he was always cute. He was being entirely too formal, though.. She wished, she just.. wished that he could have talked to her like he had the night before. And then.. before she could say anything else, he made a proposal that made her positively weak kneed. This.. this was everything Emma had wanted. To just be seen as a woman.. and not as a Princess. He wanted to be just.. themselves. For one night, like they had been in the stables. He was stumbling across his words, but it was sweet.. and it made her smile. It..was perfect.
"Killian.. I would love nothing more." She moved in closer to him, and let go of his hands so that she could place her own hands on his shoulders. "I want to do all of those things with you.. I want to get to know you. I want to spend every moment that I can with you while you're here.." She stepped in even closer. She was getting bold, but only because she knew that from where they were standing, behind the apple tree, they couldn't be caught. "Or at least the moments we can sneak out to see each other." It was all so romantic.. she felt as though she had hearts in her eyes while she gazed in to those beautiful blue hues of his.
"Just promise me one thing.. You won't call me Princess, or My Lady, or.. anything like that. Call me Emma." She started to grin, as she thought of the other thing he could call her, since she so much loved hearing it on his voice. "Or Swan.." she spoke in a rather teasing voice, as she lifted on to her tip toes, brushing her lips in a feather light manner against his.

a hero's journey THAT IS INDEED GOOD FORM He felt himself start to relax a little as he began to pull away from the reality of who she was, into another world where they were able to just freely be together. She said that she would love nothing more, than to just enjoy each other's company in the way they had last night. She wanted to get to know him and it filled him with an honor that he had never experienced before. Killian had never been in love, which was why he knew that what he felt for her . . . surpassed everything else he had ever experienced. It went deeper, to the core of his heart. And it was why he wasn't ready to let her go. Why he wanted to be selfish, and irrational and just be with the most perfect woman he had ever encountered. "I like the sound fo that," he admitted with a soft smile. Fading away were the thoughts of getting caught and the repercussions of it, or thoughts of potentially scandelizing her further. He just, wanted to be with her right now, emotionally, physically, and every other sense of the word.
"I promise," he told her softly. Calling her by her title would only remind him of why they shouldn't be doing this . . . when all he wanted to do was focus on why they should. And could. "Swan," he said with a slightly teasing smile. "Seeing you now, in the absence of your mask, makes the name even more befitting." Being able to see into her eyes was a sight that he would forever memorize and bask in the beauty of. "You don't have to call me James though," he said with a teasing voice. "Killian will do." Not the feigned name he had given her to encourage their hidden identities. Now everything was out in the open. She brushed her lips against his but he went one step further and captured her lips in his, kissing her with a soft passion, though no longer guarded. He just wanted to bask in the sensation of her touch, and conitnued to do so until a thought entered his mind that caused him to slowly end the kiss, yet keep his lips hardly an inch apart from hers. "Where can I see you tonight?" He asked. He was not asking if he could, or when he could . . . only the location so that he could be there and not waste a single moment.

Emma was glad to be able to call him Killian. It felt freeing.. and perfect. When he called her 'Swan' however, with that playful tease, it again sent a shiver through her entire body because it reminded her of the previous night, and how he had said that name in such a tone that made her absolutely tremble. He was then saying that the name Swan was befitting of her, and it made her smile even wider. The things he said..well, he was definitely skilled with words. Charming, handsome, wonderful.. she was so glad that he was willing to just let her be Emma while she was with him. "Very well... Killian," she spoke in a rather sultry tone when he told her that the name Killian would do.
When the two of them kissed, it was just as magical as it had been the night before in the stables. Only this time, there was no silent fear that the mask would slip off or that she would say something that would mess it all up. The truth was out now, and it was freeing. It only made everything that much more pleasurable. The kiss ended sooner than she would have liked it to, and as he pulled away to speak, she was still leaning forward as though to beg silently for more. However..he had asked her a good question.
Where would they meet? She hadn't thought about that before. "Meet me in the stables again, tonight, if you can. We'll meet in the loft so that we won't be found. I'll make sure it's a little more comfortable this time." She spoke with a teasing grin. "It's the one place I can think of that no one will suspect."
