It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Killian knew it was only a matter of time until the entire town found out about, everything. People were raising from their graves left right and center. That was inclusive of the people that Killian loved most: Milah -- including their baby, Elizabeth and of course . . . Liam. His dear brother. The relief and joy of seeing him again hadn't subsided and he doubted it ever would.
But with Milah and their unborn child . . . came a set of complications. He could never wish them dead, but nor could he deny how he knew it was hurting Emma. Which was why he needed to speak to her father, unsure as to how much David already knew about this situation. He had been the first one out of the Storybrookers that Killian had told about his brother. Granted, it had been in a desperate attempt to save David's life, but still. He had not lied to him about that.
Now, he felt it only right that he speak to him, man to man. Hook knew that Emma wasn't at her shared family's residence and it was what prompted Hook to knock on the door. Though Mary Margaret might be in there, Killian needed to speak to him alone and hoped he would accept this. He waited patiently, trying to gather his thoughts, not even entirely certain of how to start this conversation without just blurting everything out.
His mind was still racing with thoughts and his heart with so many emotions. Was there anyone from David's past or perhaps Mary Margaret's who had returned? Of course, Hook also felt the need to bring to light the situation because . . . when he and Emma spoke, the idea of others like Cora returning was a possibility and if that was the case, then Mary Margaret would most certainly be in danger.

With peoples loved ones rising from the dead, Mary Margaret and he had their hands full trying to help people. His wife was currently out, helping perhaps one of the dwarves to deal with their resurrected loved one – he thought he even remembered having encountered the dwarf called Stealthy once. In any case he was left at home with their baby boy, to watch him. It was better for the town to know exactly where David was at what time. His brother could have been resurrected as well and since he was potentially dangerous and his identical twin it was better if at least Emma knew at all times where her father was.
He was bouncing his son in his arms as he heard the knock. The babies fuzzing stilled as soon as his eyes landed on the leather clad man and specifically his hook. Both his children seemed to have a thing for this man, but in Neals case, David knew it was probably because of how shiny the leather and the hook were. And it helped that Hook was generally nice to him. He had no reason to doubt the man. The mans face, though, spoke volumes. How did he not notice it earlier? While his face was stoic, his eyes told stories with how many emotions could dance in them. David had a bit of an idea what could be wrong.
“So someone from your past is back alive? Your brother?”

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION When David opened the door, Hook's eyes went to him for only a brief second before falling to the baby in his arms. Hook was extremely fond of the baby, and . . . the thought that he would -- might -- have his own, made his heart fill with emotions he had not experienced for centuries. He supposed since the time Milah had told him she was expecting. He eyes averted back to David when he questioned whether someone had returned from the dead . . . guessing it was his brother.
It made sense now, where Emma gained her ability to read people. Clearly, it was from her father. And in some occasions, such as this one, Hook found himself appreciating it for it made it easier for the subject to be broached . . . for it was often subjects not so easily initiated by the reformed pirate. "Aye," he confirmed in a low voice. But, there was far more to it. "Do you have a few moments, to speak in private?" He asked, needed to speak only to him. "Well, with the exception of the little lad of course. I trust him," he said with a bit of a nod and smile as he looked down at the beautiful baby boy.

“Of course.” The man really seemed to be distraught. Davids thoughts immediately went to wanting to make it better somehow, to make him feel just a little less distraught and Hook just gave him the most wonderful opening for that. In all his life he would have never guessed he’d one day trust Captain Hook with both his children, but even less so he expected the pirate to be wonderful with kids of all ages, like his son and grandson, but both boys kind of adored him for different reasons.
“I’m not so sure about Neals silence. Maybe you should bribe him with a good cuddling.” With a grin and not accepting no for an answer, he handed his baby son over to the pirate, mindful of the hook until Neal was happily settled in the leather clad arms, cooing softly up at the man.
“We’re all in private. Mary Margaret and Emma are out and I am under house arrest. Remember when I told you I had a twin brother? It’s better if I stay where people know where I am, in case my brother is among the resurrected as well and… wreaking havoc. Apparently we’re concerned people might think that’s me.”

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION David expressed his uncertainty of Neal's silence and spoke of bribing him with a cuddle. Hook's heart instantly reacted as his body instinctively reached over to cradle the baby in his arms. He ensured his hook remained well covered and out of arm's way so that it wouldn't so much as lightly poke the baby. The feeling of holding him in his arms gave the reformed pirate an instant feeling of peace and serenity. It calmed his racing heart and mind, just looking at the innocence of a child.
The thought of soon having his own was not far from his mind but right now, he just wanted to bask in the incredible feeling of holding a baby. This particular baby. There was just something absolutely beautiful about it, and him. Hook gently swayed him in his arms, holding the baby close to his chest and with a good grip. He wished he had both his hands, if only to never have to worry about injuring the baby and being able to hold him properly with two hands. That would be something deprived of him when he had his own as well. "This little lad has more control over me than I do over him," Hook said as he softly smiled at the baby. "Isn't that right?' He asked him, leaning toward him and raising him to his face as well as he gently touched Neal's nose with his own before lightly kissing his forehead.
David's words began to process in his mind and brought him back to the reality of the situation. He assured Hook that they were in private, and then spoke of his twin brother. Hook felt a twinge of guilt for not having considered such a thing. His brother was a legitimate threat. Hook's situation was quite different. "Now would be a good time to get a tattoo," he said a bit jokingly . . . but hell, it could help differentiate the two of them. "It's a legitimate concern indeed. Fortunately you're the one with a gun," he added on once again, with that same jesting tone of voice but as before, his words were not without truth. "It hopefully won't be difficult to keep him contained. I'll do all I can to help, and keep on the lookout for him should he be among the previously deceased." Because, who else knows who would be turning up.

In many ways Charmings heart swelled as Hook so easily accepted Neal in his arms and cuddled him. Neal seemed to be thrilled. While he knew Killian used the hook more as prosthetic than weapon – a lesson learnt through observation of the man – the slight danger still remained, yet here Hook was, making painfully sure to never poke or hurt him. Even when the baby just reached for it and wanted to play with it, Hooks hand was quick to always prevent him from touching the tip and through that to prevent him from hurting himself.
“That’s absolutely right, Killian. He has control over all of us.” And why should he not? He was an innocent baby, who wanted fun, sleep, cuddles and food and that they could provide easily. His smile alone being a great reward for them. And of course the cooing, which Neal produced right now, just as Killian kissed his forehead, a clear approval of those open affections.
“A tattoo? Nah, not my style despite he would be able to get the same and we’re back at square one.” And with that he would be confined in the house again, not that he minded, given that he had his baby here, he wasn’t alone. “And the gun, well I wouldn’t put it past him to find one.” Either way, it was not their worst problem, just a personal one and it was certainly not why Killian was there.
“Thank you, but what brings you here, then? Is your brother back? Or Golds first wife?” If it was anything malicious, Gold wife would be an interesting subject to resurrect as it was part of the source of Hooks and Gold hatred. And given Killians request for privacy, there was no doubt that whatever it was, it hit him where it hurt.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Neal certainly did have a hold on them all, and Hook couldn't complain in the slightest. "Aye, that he does," Kilian agreed in a quiet voice. He continued to rock the baby in his arms, finding this a far better alternative to calming his racing heart and mind compared to drinking rum. Who would have thought. David responded to Killian's suggestions of a tattoo and then possessing a gun. He had thought quite a bit about this it would seem, which made sense. His brother's return could indeed prove to be dangerous. Thus far, no villains had been returning but it may only be a matter of time before that changed.
"Well in that case, I hope you're a better shot than he is," Hook commented when David spoke of his brother could easily acquire a gun. The pirate's words were half joking, half serious. He then brought forth the inevitable subject, and the one that Killian had initially come here for. He seemed to be aware of the situation, questioning whether his brother or former lover had returned. "Milah," he said, refusing to acknowledge her as Gold's wife. A husband did not treat their wife the way that the Crocodile had treated Milah, and he refused to ever give Rumple that power over her, even if it was just in name. He had taken her from him once, he refused to let him touch her again.
"Both of them have returned," Hook answered quietly, looking at Neal for a few moments before he pulled his gaze from the beautiful boy and looked to his father. "My brother and the woman he was to marry are both in Storybrooke," he told him, the thought causing Killian's heart to warm. "Has, Emma mentioned anything to you about Milah?" He asked, wondering if Emma had mentioned anything about her pregnancy. The loss of their child was a secret Killian had harbored, not telling a single soul . . . not even Emma, until he could no longer keep it to himself. She had been upset to find out he withheld it, but eventually understood his reasoning. He would share that honesty with her father as well, not about to cower away from explaining the truth. Besides, it was fairly impossible to keep it a secret any longer.

“I got a bit of training, so I’d say so.” At least he hoped so. His brother returning, while it would allow him to finally meet him, was not something he really wanted to witness thanks to what he heard of him and of course to experiences with the man who raised James as his son for all those years. James was not a person he’d like to meet without really knowing him. David walked over to the kitchen area. He pulled out two glasses, but instead of filling them with alcohol, he filled them with milk. Without even asking he warmed the milk, added cocoa and cinnamon and wordlessly presented one of the glasses to Hook, not even remembering when exactly they had included him in this family tradition of giving out this drink to soothe their own.
“Your brother is back, you know I would want to meet him eventually, you’ve spoken very highly of him after all. I didn’t know he was engaged though. They must be happy to be reunited with each other and you.” At least he assumed the woman liked Killian as well, given the stories of his brother, though, David would be surprised if the man would have accepted a woman if she disrespected his brother.
“Killian, you know Emma. She’s loyal to you. She would never mention anything about her unless you specifically gave her permission to do so. She would protect you, even from us, with everything she got. I mean she got angry at us for being concerned you might be tempted by darkness a while back. She got your back. So no, she hasn’t mentioned anything – BUT, I am her father, I did notice she’s distracted and … conflicted about something. So does this have something to do with Milah then? What is it?” After all he had reason to believe Killian might have come to him to speak to him about what was bothering and he’d be sure to keep the knowledge safe, like he requested. With a smile he watched as Neal reached out to examine Hooks necklace, again.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Hook briefly glanced over at Charming who was preparing two cups of hot cocoa -- and didn't fail to notice the lack of alcohol. Which, was probably for the best. While he often resorted to rum, now was not the time for it. Especially while he held Neal in his arms. He listened to David speak of wanting to meet his brother, and it caused a faint smile to form on the reformed pirate's lips. "And I should like to introduce you to him," he told him sincerely. It wasn't always easy to speak of his brother, and the first time he had mentioned it at all was in order to save David from the Dreamshade. Had that not been necessary, Killian couldn't say when he would have spoken about Liam. Some memories were far too painful bring up. "Aye," he confirmed.
"They deserve all the happiness, and I hope that it remains for them." Meaning, he hoped that they would not disappear as quickly as they came . . . for who knows what the conditions of these resurrections were. David then explained how Emma would not say anything that he would not have wanted her to. "I know," he agreed. "It's not that . . . for she would be within her right to tell you." It was something that not only affected him, but her as well, and thus, the family. He could help but feel his heart swell with honor that she would defend him when it came to being tempted by darkness. Part of him knew he was undeserving of it, yet he couldn't help but feel that honor and bask in it.
"I wish I could protect her as well as she does me," he said, thinking aloud for he knew at this time, he wasn't doing a very good job of protecting her emotions when he was causing her such distress in them. Hook remained silent as he formulated his thoughts, aware he had to divulge the whole truth about the day Milah died. "When Milah was, killed." Thinking back on it still caused his heart to race with so many emotions. "She was carrying our child." A baby who had been a victim of the Dark One's wrath. "As she is now returned . . . the baby, our baby, has too." It still grew in her womb and within a few months time, would join them in this world. Hook paused there, tearing his eyes away from the perfect child as he met David's gaze to see what expression he could read from him.

David noticed clearly how his brother was not the topic that caused Killian this grief, it caused him to hope and fear in a different way, in an almost good way. He could be reunited with his brother, maybe have him for good back in his life. It was something good for him, he knew and saw it in him. He hoped for them. It was the other resurrection that caused him grief and doubt and apparently Emma had a right to speak about what was going on. He wasn’t so sure about that. At least he knew his daughter thought similarly than him, that this was Killians story to tell, no matter what it meant for them. Emma was loyal to him, she cared for him.
“You are protecting her.” At least he was doing everything in his power. Him appearing here spoke volumes. He wanted the situation to not have the consequences they did. He wanted to protect Emma from what was happening, even though he might not have the power to do so. The truth shocked Charming, though. Milah being back was one thing, but her carrying a baby, that would naturally distress his daughter and he could have imagined his daughter might have spoken to him. That made things complicated, but only for a good man. A lesser man would see no problem in it. He did and it made David smile slightly. They could get through it. He knew Killian loved Emma. Together they could find a solution that included the best for the baby.
“And you don’t know what to do now, right?” And he wanted to be right by Emma, Milah and the unborn. “Well at the very least we’ll know the kid will have a pretty great Dad.”
