The fact that he never even thought this was possible, didn’t make it any easier on anyone, yet David had to keep it all together somehow, to be the leader the people deserved. They were probably scared as well, confused and they had to look to someone now. To whom if not their royal family? They had to navigate them through this and through the pain they were all feeling. Suddenly things felt hollow and meaningless to him once more. He had his love to Snow, but his daughter wasn’t with them, neither was their grandson. Were they okay? He missed them, terribly even, but there was nothing he could do about it. Apart from taking care of those they loved. Despite his daughters denials, he knew that one of those people had to be no other than the pirate Captain Hook. He might be unwilling to consider him family, but Emma cared for him and he cared even more for Emma, it would seem. He did deserve someone to speak to.
“How are you holding up, Hook? Are you okay? You did take quite the beating from the shadow.” And he did it for them, for Emma. Even though he might not be ready to accept that anything could happen between the pirate and his baby girl, he had seen what this man had done for them. “You were holding your ribs.”

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION The Enchanted Forest. Not everyone was happy to be back, but it was more about who they all left behind that made this a difficult curse to accept. Perhaps it would be easier if none of them held the memories of two certain people . . . and yet, how could one want to not remember their loved ones? It was a tricky situation indeed. But there was some that were suffering more than others. At least some of them had each other though, and that counted for something. It also re-enforced that Hook could not stay here. This was not his home; this was not his life. He needed to return to what he knew, and trying to keep being a hero . . . well, it wasn't as if that had worked out.
He was pulled from his thoughts when he heard the Prince's voice, turning his head to look at him. The man's concerns was, rather touching. He knew that this couldn't be easy for him either, and now he was expected to immediately delve back into his role as Prince and provide guidance and leadership for these people. "Aye," he confirmed in a low voice with a nod of his head. The fact that he had even noticed . . . well, it meant more than Killian was willing to admit right now. "No worries, mate. I have the best medicine for that," he said with a bit of a smirk as he proceeded to pull out his flask and take a swig of it. Afterwards, not wanting to appear rude of course, he offered it to David. Or well, James he supposed he was now. "What about you?" He asked, returning the question. "Are you prepared for the path that lays ahead?" He further inquired, only able to imagine how difficult this was for him and his wife.

“I am not sure this qualifies as medicine.” But it numbed the pain, even if it might also numb his brain. Could he blame him? No. He slowly understood that maybe all of this might have given him a new perspective, new hope. Emma did that. To all of them. She was a strong woman, but now she was no longer with them. They could probably never see her again and it broke his heart. He hadn’t had had enough time with his baby girl and he regretted this every single day, even more so now. Charming would never forget the few moments in which he held her as a baby, the few moments in which he held her now and Henry as well. They had had too little time.
“Prepared? Me? How could I be? The dwarves are already complaining about the lack of DVDs. This is not going to be fun.” What was going to be ‘fun’ would be to settle everyone back into the kingdom. With Storybrooke roles have shifted a lot. For example, while he still thought Hook had a long way to go, he thought he had earned a place with them and he was willing to do whatever was needed in order to help him settle into a normal, honest life, if he wanted that.
“Snow fell right back into her role as Queen, I think, entertaining our dear hosts. I… I’d much rather turn around to go back to Emma and Henry. And I’d love to change.” He pointed to his shirt, bloodied as it had been the day he had put Emma into the wardrobe, a painful reminder of that day and what was lost.

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION David claimed that the rum didn't exactly qualify as medicine. "The numbing effect it has on pain begs to differ," he said with a bit of a smirk. Though, he knew full well that it was only temporary. Besides, he wasn't drinking it to ease any pain in his ribs. And there truly was no cure for heartache . . . other than having one's heart literally ripped out of their body. Charming then went on t speak of how he could be prepared, and that the dwarfs were already complaining about the missing items in this world.
"Those round discs are useless when you don't have the magic boxes to play them on. Wait until they discover that," Hook said with an ever so slight smile of amusement, a rater faint one that lasted on a brief moment. The odd technologies of the other world . . . he imagined that after nearly 30 years of growing accustomed to them, it was difficult to be without such items. Fortunately for Killian, he hadn't been in Storybrooke long enough to become as dependent on them as the dwarfs and perhaps others. David went on to explain that Snow quickly fell back into her role as queen and entertaining the hosts. "That's good," he agreed.
"The people are going to need their leaders, now more than ever." As confusion and perhaps some disorientation prevailed. Hook's eyes went to the stain on David's shirt and he smirked at the sight. "Aye you definitely need new attire. Unfortunately, I can't help you there," he told him, for it was easier to focus on his remark about his clothes . . . than about the subject of Emma and Henry. "Well, don't worry mate. You all will prevail in your mission," he continued, giving David a pat on the back. "Heroes always do," he added on, his words not sarcastic despite what his tone may have suggested.

“And the disinfecting qualities when poured on wounds, still not medicine.” At least not the kind that should be had here. On the other hand he understood. He wanted nothing but to drown the pain of losing his child and grandchild in alcohol. While he loved Snow with all his heart he had learned especially over the course of their adventures in Neverland, that a happy ending could not be had without his daughter and grandson, they were always part of his happy ending, but they were gone, so how could it truly be his happy ending? And it seemed it was similar for Hook. And with him things were different. David remembered not only Neverland, but also what happened after. His daughter had, in a way, already made her decision, she was just not aware of it yet. He wanted her happiness, but now she, too, had to adjust to something else. “The dwarves will be the first to discover it and complain. Mark my words and watch it.” At least he hoped the kid would want to stay around with them. Part of him feared Hook isolating himself again. He had come to respect him and wanted him safe, with them. They would have a place for him and when they had Emma back, she’d want to see him, he was sure of that.
“We all will prevail somehow. Together. We will get settled and then somehow we will find a way to get Emma and Henry to us. This might have been a way for them, but…. How can this be our happy ending? Once again parted from our daughter and grandson? It can’t be. If it is, I shall accept it, but reluctantly. Until then, there will be lots of filled flasks for you. We will have to find a ship for you as well.”

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION David pointed out that it was still not medicine and Hook gave a slight smirk in response. "Regardless . . . it tastes bloody good," he said, offering the flask to him once more in case the prince changed his mind. He then went on to say that the dwarves would complain; to mark his word and watch it. Only Killian knew that he would not be around to witness such a thing. "Shame that you'll have to endure it, considering how close they are with your wife," he teased, deciding it was best to leave it at that.
His next words caused Hook to fall silent, listening to them. He wanted to remain hopeful that they would be reunited with Emma and Henry but . . . hope was a dangerous thing to possess. For the disappointment would be far too great. Killian had to come to terms with the fact that he may never see her again, though that did not change the way he felt about her. "It does seem like far of a happy ending for heroes," he told him. He knew why he didn't have a happy ending . . . but Snow and Charming, Emma and Henry, they deserved theirs. For they were all in the hero category. "I hope you are able to find a way to be with her and your grandson once again," he told him truthfully.
"You hero types deserve it," he added on with a soft smile, and slight tease, though his words were spoken with the utmost sincerity. Whatever life Emma believed to be living with Henry was . . . it wasn't real. Surely, this wasn't the end of their story. "And until then, keep your wife close, ey." Take advantage of being with the one you love . . . though Hook had not ever seen David or Mary Margaret take each other for granted. They seemed rather appreciated of the time they had together, especially having been deprived of it for twenty eight years, excluding whatever happened in the Enchanted Forest prior to then.
David then explained how they would have flasks for him as well as a ship. It made it impossible for Killian to lie to the man any longer. "I really do appreciate that, mate," he began to say, with a very clear but in his tone before he spoke the word. "But this isn't where I belong." His sense of belonging had been with Emma. But now that she was gone . . . he felt more out of place than ever before. "The Jolly Roger is my home, and I intend to find it." If what Regina said was true, then it was somewhere here . . . and he supposed tracking it down would be part of the fun. template by isabella

Why the hell did he think he did not belong here? Charming listened to all he had to say, how he hoped they would find a way to reunite with Emma. Had he given up already? That easily? Had he misjudged the pirate that bitterly? He had gone to Neverland with Emma, for her and her son. He had fought for them, risked his life for them or was it not for them? And now he gave up that easily? Out of all the people to come here with them, David had thought Killian would be the one to help them find him get his daughter and grandson back no matter what Regina said. Out of all the people he trusted Killian to do what he had to do, to come up with ways to get to them. He was perhaps the most resourceful person here. He could find a way with them, a good way unlike others. And for some reason he saw Killian as a better choice for his kid than the other one who claimed he’d do anything, but never actually did anything to prove it, just expected the praise, much like his father. Then again he understood the desire to find his home
“And when you have, will you return to us?” he asked, hoping the pirate would say yes. He hoped for him to return, even just to help in maybe futile attempts of getting Emma and Henry back, but he wanted, no, needed an ally, one that was not afraid to do anything in order to get to them, one who could somehow justify it all, whatever he did. He was bound to his responsibilities, but Hook wasn’t. Hook could do what he needed to do. “You know you can come and go into our kingdom as you please. You’re not considered a criminal – not anymore."
