.:Birthplace:. Arendelle .:Family:. Mother and Father, both deceased. Little sister Anna. .:Occupation:. Queen of Arendelle .:History:. Elsa grew in in the kingdom of Arendelle, as the eldest daughter to the King and Queen. She was born with powers to control ice and snow, though her parents don't know why. After an accident with her sister, Anna, Elsa lived her childhood hiding out in her room and barely speaking to a single human soul. Anna often tried to get her to come out and play, but Elsa couldn't. Elsas parents were confused and scared and thought that the best thing for Elsa, and her sister, was to keep the girls apart. They thought it was best to keep Elsa in hiding and tell her not to embrace her powers but to treat them like this horrible thing that was meant to strike fear into her heart. Granted, they tried to do this lovingly and they were very gentle and kind to her, but this really wasn't the best thing for the child.
This caused Elsa to grow up as a recluse, and basically un-trusting toward everyone. Especially toward herself. Things were hard for Elsa, making sure that no one ever saw any evidence of her powers just made her powers stronger and more unpredictable. When her parents died she didn't even allow anyone into her room for weeks, not even to bring her food. The walls were covered in thick ice and the cold would've killed any normal human, most likely. After her coronation, things got even worse. Her sister, Anna, insisted on marrying a man she just met and in a fit or rage and stress Elsa froze the entire kingdom. As it turned out, the man, Hans, who was planning to marry Anna was really just after the thrown of Arendelle and caused a lot of trouble over the next few days while Anna tried to bring Elsa and summer back.
While Elsa was away from her home, she experienced a moment of clarity. She let loose, using her powers freely to create her own ice castle where she planned to live and explore the limits of her ice powers. This didn't last long, however, for Hans and his men did end up overpowering her and taking her back to the kingdom. After Elsa escaped, trying to cross the icy fjord, Hans arrived and told her that Anna was dead because of a cold blast Elsa had accidentally sent her way. Needless to say, Elsa was devastated. The one person she cared for more than anyone else in the world was dead, and it was her fault? As she fell onto the ice, mourning the loss of her sister, Hans took out his sword and was going to strike her down. Anna, on the brink of succumbing completely to her frozen heart, stopped the sword and turned into an ice statue.
This was a crucial moment in Elsas history. First she thought her sister had died by her hand, and now she knew for a fact her sister had turned into ice because of her. Nothing was worse than this. But, it wasn't only a bad moment for Elsa. It was a moment of awakening. When Anna thawed, explaining that love thawed her, Elsa came upon a moment of discovery. She knew how to bring back summer, by using love to thaw the ice. This was a pivotal moment for her emotionally and with her development in learning to control her powers.
Since then, Elsa has been a lot more open with her powers and with the people of her Kingdom. She can still be very wary though, and a little nervous about using her powers in public. But she can at least have a decent conversation. Everything was going pretty well with Anna finally becoming engaged to a man named Kristoff, and Elsa running the Kingdom smoothly. Elsa and Anna were having touching moments learning more about their mother through her wedding dress, her diary, and her past. Until, the diary implies that her parents left due to Elsas powers. This caused Elsa to digress, fleeing into the forest only to be followed by Anna and taken to the rock trolls for guidance.
Soon, Anna leaves for 'The Enchanted Forest', the place their parents were claiming to go under the name 'Mist Haven'. Elsa was not happy about her leaving, especially since Anna left without telling her. Actually, she left after Elsa deliberately told her that it was a bad idea. Kristoff tried to console Elsa, but the Queen just felt worse and worse the longer her sister was gone. And to make things worse, Hans and his brothers are planning to come and imprison Elsa in an urn designed to capture people with magical powers. Kristoff tried to convince Elsa to destroy it, but when the two found the urn she was too interested in its writing and how it related to her powers that she was too slow, and Hans and his men came in to try and capture her. Instead of capturing the Queen however, the release the Snow Queen that was locked inside.
The Snow Queen then returned to Arendelle with Elsa and Hans. Ingrid, The Snow Queen, started to teach Elsa how to master her powers and Anna returned home, much to Elsa and Kristoffs relief and happiness. Anna claims she didn't learn anything knew about their parents, and Ingrid claims to be the girls aunt. Elsa realizes this is probably where her powers came from and starts to trust Ingrid full-heartedly, which was a mistake. Elsa started to trust Ingrid more than Anna, and Ingrid used it against her. She claimed that Anna was trying to take Elsas ice powers away, and also claimed that is what her parents where trying to do when they left. At first, Elsa believed this story, and started to confront her sister about it. But, the bond between Anna and Elsa was too strong, and the girls tried to work together to stop Ingrid.
The sisters plan was foiled however, by Ingrid putting a spell on Anna and causing her to imprison Elsa in the urn. Elsa still loved her sister, and she made that clear even as she was being captured. In a fit of rage Ingrid Froze Arendelle and the urn containing Elsa ended up in Rumlpstiltskins vault, due to a deal made with Ingrid.
Elsa has no idea how long she was in that urn, but after everything that happened with Zelena, she was finally set free and wandered Storybrooke aimlessly until she was able to get some answers. Now, she has gone through moments of weakness from putting an ice wall around Storybrooke to ensure that no one left until she found Anna, to befriending the Charmings and their loved ones. Elsa has a lot to learn in this new town, but she is still searching for her sister and won't give up until she is found.

Elsa caught her breath as she stepped out into the crisp spring air. All of the snow was melting from winter. This was always a bittersweet time of year for Elsa. She loved the winter, that was true. She loved that she didn't really have to hide in it. She was able to just be herself and no one would really know the difference. She also hated the winter, because it reminded her of the powers that had caused so much strife during her childhood. But Spring, Spring was almost worse. She loved the flowers blooming, but she couldn't touch them without icing them over and watching them die. She loved the warm air, but then she'd have to stay inside even more because her powers would be recognized out there in the sun if she ever slipped.
Even now that she was okay with having ice powers, she didn't exactly want to march around giving everyone ice cold handshakes and freaking people out who still weren't okay with it. She actually wasn't even sure if those people were out there, but there was no point in risking it. No, it was just better to stay inside and let people enjoy the spring air. Granted, she did have less of a chance of slipping up now that she had learned how to thaw the ice she formed, but it was still a gamble when under emotional pressure. She wouldn't freeze anyone, per say, but she had gotten stuck in some pretty unfortunate and icy situations.
