It is August 2012, and the summer is coming to an end. The witches of Chance Harbor have had time to reflect on what has happened with John Blackwell and with each other, and attempt to move forward.
Cassie and Adam try to defy what Ethan says is “destiny”.
Melissa searches for someone who’s a good guy and can make her happy.
Faye and Jake are trying to make things work.
Diana is happy with Grant, and not particularly conflicted about the dark magic within her, while Cassie is.
Dawn is starting to try to live up to her potential as an Elder, while Charles is comatose due to the demons within him.
As their summers end, school is fast approaching. However, the arrival of the four Blackwell children threatens them and forces them all to reconsider what it is they really want, and if they need to bring their Circle back together or not.
Meanwhile, six youths from New Salem have come to Chance Harbor, making up their own Circle. Will they come into conflict with the Chance Harbor group, or the Blackwells?
Following the death of Eben, the True Believers have disbanded and the Witch Hunters are coming back together. Their council is trying to determine their next move, fearing the gathering of the six Blackwell children in Chance Harbor. While not eager to repeat another failure there, there may be no other hope than to try to kill the gathering witches.
With Adam’s job of taking care of and hiding the Crystal Skull apparently having failed due to the Skull’s temptations, the hands of John Blackwell are all over Chance Harbor. The Skull has also resonated, causing the three other “Master Tools” to resonate; a bracelet, a diadem, and a garter. These objects hold immense power, and with three groups of witches in town, it’s a race to find where they could be hidden.
Where do they lie? Who can be trusted? What other mysteries does Chance Harbor hold regarding the past of magic and witchcraft? The Chance Harbor Circle has to answer all of these questions as they attempt to save themselves, and everyone else from the approaching darkness.
