Elsa is a tall young woman who holds herself as one should in her position - with grace and poise. Her skin is a very pale white, tracing to her Scandinavian roots. Her hair is an icy, platinum blonde that corresponds with her ice magic, as demonstrated by the single strand in Anna's hair. Her hair is always either in a singular braid or an intricate updo. She most commonly wears an icy blue gown that she made herself but sometimes she's seen wearing a green dress with a purple cape. She always seems to look like she's in a better mood when she's around Anna.

Elsa is a lot more reserved than her sister but she still enjoys having fun. She is incredibly protective of her younger sister and often find it appropriate to put her own happiness behind her sister's. Elsa is often anxious and more on edge despite how calm she'd like everyone else to think she is. Elsa is always willing to help others if she can and considers herself a fair ruler. Though, as Anna already knows, she isn't afraid to put her foot down. Elsa does not believe in love at first sight and typically has a good sense of judgment. A long time ago there lived a King and a Queen and their two lovely daughters, Princess Elsa and Princess Anna. Both of them were average royalty who found joys in teasing the staff, playing with dolls and dancing around as if they were at a royal ball. Elsa, the eldest of the two had a gift - or a curse if you ask some people. She had the power to manipulate and create ice and snow. Her parents knew about it and they feared her, as she would learn later on. She accidentally froze her sister while playing and she was told to conceal, don't feel. Elsa was no longer allowed to share a room with Anna. She ignored her when she knocked on her door, as painful as it was. It was for Anna's safety. Elsa did not want to hurt her like the trolls made her fear she would. The princess could tell that her sister was getting more and more upset over it, but Elsa could not bring herself to talk to her and tell her why she wasn't coming out from her room. The only real social interaction the girl got was when her mother and father would train her in royalty things and not showing her powers and when she had a tutor to help her with everything else she needed to learn. She and her sister shared a tutor but they did not learn anything together. Many years later, when Elsa was eighteen her parents went on a voyage they never came back from. Despite being devastated, Elsa did not attend the funeral. Three years later, when Elsa was twenty-one, things were going to change. 

Now, twenty-one years old it was time for her coronation and she was to replace her late mother and father as Queen. This was probably the hardest thing she had ever done - she was petrified of her secret getting out. Elsa was taught to be ashamed of the magic she performed. After all, Arendelle wasn't exactly the most magical of the realms - not like Mist Haven. Not only that but apparently her Aunt Ingrid had done some things in the past that caused fear in her parent's hearts. But she didn't know of that yet, of course. The ball was going well and she finally got to speak to Anna, who seemed to be all kinds of giddy. But then she brought a prince over to her and asked her to bless their marriage. Elsa thought that was absolutely ridiculous. Marry Prince Hans? Anna had only just met the man! This caused an argument between her and her sister and her magic was revealed. Within moments she took off running into the mountains, going as far away as she could. Despite being all by herself again, she felt free all the way out here. It was where she could show her powers and be true to herself and she wouldn't have to worry about judgment or harming her little sister.

But Anna had other plans when she came in to see her. Elsa told her sister to leave because she didn't believe that she was safe around her, though she did have a bit of a laugh because she had met Olaf, a talking snowman that she had created, resembling the one that she had made with her sister long ago. Elsa accidentally pierced her sister's heart with her powers and when Kristoff ran in to get to her, she sent an abominable snowman - Marshmallow - after her. Elsa continued to pace back and forth, afraid of what her sister had told her about happening to freeze Arendelle in an eternal winter. That's when Prince Hans and his men came in and attacked. She fought them off but she was knocked unconscious and when she woke up she was chained in the dungeon with Hans telling her that she needed to unfreeze everything. She tried her best to tell him that she couldn't and if she could she would have done it by now. Eventually her anxiety gets so bad it causes her to break out of the chains and she tries to get away.

She meets with Hans and falls to her knees and he's ready to behead her for what he calls 'treason.' Despite the fact she's about to die she does not think of herself, instead she begs him to take good care of Anna for her. All Elsa cares about is that her sister is safe and happy. Especially now that she knows that she had frozen Anna's heart and when he tells her she's dead she just breaks down and accepts her fate. In a matter of seconds to her there is a sound of shattering glass and her sister, frozen into a sculpture is in front of her. Kristoff and Sven arrive just in time to see this. Elsa grips her sister's frozen form in a hug and cries until she finally comes back to life, her sister's act of sisterly love saving herself. Elsa unfreezes everything and laughs as Anna punches Hans off the boat. Within the next day she has everything settled with her kingdom and she has banished Hans back to his kingdom along with the Duke of Weselton, who she stopped being trade partners with. It seems all is well.

Two years later Elsa is giving her sister, Anna, their mother's old wedding dress so that she could wear it when she marries Kristoff, whom she is already engaged to at this point. She finds her mother's old diary and believes that her parents left on that voyage to Mist Haven because they wanted to take her powers away. Anna said she'd go there to find out and Elsa tells her not to go. Later on she goes to demand Kristoff to tell her where her sister is when she finds out that she had already left and Kristoff was supposed to stay with her to keep her company. After awhile she gets restless and they get word of Hans and his brothers coming to attack Arendelle. The two of them go to investigate and they meet up with them in a cave. While trying to trap Elsa in a magical urn, Hans releases Ingrid, the Snow Queen, and she freezes him in place and greets Elsa.

They all head back to safety in Arendelle and Elsa starts to learn how to control her ice magic from Ingrid, who claims to be her Aunt. Soon enough Anna comes back and she greets her and tells her all about it. A few nights later she goes down to the dungeons to see that her sister is there because she was accused of trying to put her in that urn. She makes her sister think that she believes them so that the guards won't suspect anything. The two go off to find that urn so they can but Ingrid back inside but the plan fails when apparently Ingrid catches Anna and gives her shattered sight. Elsa is heartbroken to hear the things that her sister is saying but before getting sucked up into the urn she promises her sister that she will always love her and essentially forgives her for everything.

Next thing Elsa knows she's walking around a strange city called Storybrooke and here she meets all sorts of new people who help her relax and find her sister again. Meanwhile she has to battle it out with Ingrid and deal with the possibility of being stuck to her and Emma as her sisters. Though she was more than happy to have met everyone in Storybrooke, she had to head home with her sister to Arendelle where she could rule as Queen and her sister could get married to Kristoff already.
