Hey Bartender Pour em hot tonight til the party and the music and the truth collide ### WORDS TAG: Killian
BLABLA | They were going to land. Katalina Watson was looking forward to going to a good bar where she could get drunk off her ass. Naturally, she waited until Killian was ready to get off the ship before going herself. He'd done his best to ditch her before; she was sure he was going to try again.
Tricky pirates, she mused. Katalina recollected Reese warning her of that, and of course he was going to tell her the truth, but make it sound like it was a small thing they did. She sobered. Now she truly needed to drink; when would the thought of Reese stop putting her in such a dark mood?
As she walked around, Katalina kept in mind the route to get back to the Roy Rogers, knowing that it would be easy for her to get lost; making it all that much easier for Killian to leave her behind.
Which one would think that the fact he was getting Katalina's treasure would be enough incentive to keep her on until they reached her destination.
Finally, a bar! Katalina smiled as she went inside and sat up front in the center of the bar where she ordered straight-up rum. Part of her could hardly believe that she was ordering that, since when she first tried it, she pretty much spit it right back out, but now she'd grown accustomed to the taste. She drank the first drink in minutes, and the bartender gave her another one. The woman claimed that a man had bought one for her, so she swiveled around to look. There, a man grinned, and she had to hide her cringe. He wasn't all that good-looking.
It looked like the man lived in a swamp, really, but when he got closer, he smelled okay. That was an upside. He slid in next to her and put a hand on her thigh. Looking at it for a moment with a blank face and then looking back at him, she drank the rum and smiled a bit coldly. "I would suggest taking your hand off my leg unless you want a rum bottle for a head." The man retracted it, frowning and stormed off. For now, Katalina returned to her drink, letting a sigh escape her lips.

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY This woman was proving to be a bloody nuisance. He couldn't seem to get rid of her. Every time he tried to evade her, there she was. Ready to get back on his ship. She was a crafty and sneaky little thing, he would give her that. It was after all how she had managed to get on his ship in the first place. But it was a bad look if it was known that the Jolly Roger had a female in the crew. He could easily make up the reasons for it -- uncaring of tarnishing her reputation. Then again, she had consciously decided to remain on a ship full of men.
Hell, she was almost practically like one of them. Which was a dangerous thought. He needed to get rid of her, and he hoped that tonight, he would be successful in this mission. Though they arrived at the same tavern, she was not with his crew. He entered with his men surrounding him, others immediately greeting the crew as several cheered at their arrival. He always enjoyed making an entrance. He was after all, Captain Killian Jones. "Order rum for me lads!" He announced, his words reciprocated with cheers once again. He found his way to a table, noticing from the corner of his eye that Katalina was sitting there, drinking her own fill. And she seemed to find the company of a man. Most excellent!
He hoped that either she would drink too much and therefore be unable to navigate her way back to the ship. Or that her night would be spent in the company of the men and discovering the pleasures that the night could bring. Or perhaps, if Killian was really lucky, it would be a combination of both. Either way, he was not going to pay her any attention. He was here with his crew mates . . . all of which were men! And there was no room on the Jolly Roger for a woman. With that thought, he raised his mug, made a toast, and as everyone cheered in response, he took a large swig of the delicious beverage while a few other men began to gather, offering dice for a game. The night was already off to an excellent start!

Hey Bartender Pour em hot tonight til the party and the music and the truth collide ### WORDS TAG: Killian
BLABLA | Katalina heard the crew come in with Killian, and she rolled her eyes but made no move to join them. She was not wanted there, and really, she didn't care. She just wanted to get to her destination already and be done with it all. That was her ultimate goal; her treasure wouldn't go to waste, and she'd be out of this world. Out of this life, and out of her misery.
Standing up to stretch her legs, Katalina decided that she wanted to explore the land before returning to the ship. However, before she got a chance, she noticed the man she had turned away had returned, walking straight up to her. She gave a sound of annoyance. "I'm not interested in-" she got cut off by two more men grabbing her arms and pushing her back into the bar. Her leg was caught on the stool, and she let out a soft bark of pain. The man smirked as this occurred, and she knew she was officially in trouble.
It wasn't like she was going to get help from Killian; if anything, they'd just laugh at her situation. Katalina was the person that no one ever wanted to have around. Except maybe this guy, as he semeed to want to have some fun with her, that she just wasn't interested in.
The man laughed in her face, even as he put a hand on her waist,, his other one trying to snake its way inside her clothing. "Seriously, get the fuck off of me!" she shouted the words, glaring, but what she got in return was a smack in the face. It hurt and she knew that she would bruise there. This was what she was resorting to? A woman that nobody would ever miss? Yeah, no thanks. This was exactly why she was going to drink poison as soon as Roy Rogers left her at her destination. Feeling the dress loosen a bit and a hand marking on her bare skin, she came back to reality.
"Hey, I said get off of me! You will pay for this, you bastard!" Even more pain as he hit her again and the men tightened their grips on her arms as she struggled. She hated being fondled like this, and she growled low in her throat as the man found exactly what he was aiming to play with first. Now she just plain wanted it all over and done with.
At this rate, Katalina wouldn't make it back on the ship on time, and she was beginning to accept that, but she was still going to fight. She was not one to give up so easy...

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY Killian was currently enjoying this game, because he was winning. What the others didn't know, was that he was of course cheating. Then again, perhaps some did realize that but were intelligent enough to remain silent and not call him out on it. It was instances such as these that gaining a fearsome reputation for himself worked in his favor. It was still a good game though, the boisterous crowd cheering out whenever a round was won. The rum was coming non-stop, just how Killian liked it. And he had found himself a couple of women that he would most certainly be spending the night with. Ah yes. This was a rather wonderfully typical night for the captain. Yet that was all soon about to change. Crediting his peripheral vision, he noticed a scene happening on the other end of the bar. The main thing that had caught his eye, was that it was a situation involving Katalina.
Whenever a fight or situation occurred in a tavern, all knew to keep to themselves and mind their business. It was the unspoken rule for no one wanted to put themselves in conflict when it had nothing to do with them. Some people of course became so inebriated, that they often grew reckless. Killian wasn't quite at that level of intoxication yet. He still had enough sense to know what was happening. And enough sense to not ignore it. He tried to. He kept telling himself to look at the game and focus on it; focus on one of the woman at his side, on the mug filed with rum before him. But despite all the noise and chaos of the bar, somehow, he could quite distinctly hear what was happening to Katalina, and it caused him to occasionally glance over at the scene. She was getting beaten, restrained, and touched inappropriately. He knew that soon, one thing would lead to another for her garment was already growing loose.
He could also hear her cries of protests and their violent responses to them. Mind your own business, Killian. His mind was telling him to ignore this scene, for it had nothing to do with him. It shouldn't have anything to do with him. He wanted Katalina gone from the ship, and this would be a guaranteed way of ensuring she did not return to the Jolly Roger. He should be selfish and inconsiderate. He should not care about what happens to her, not even for all the treasure she promised him -- something that he still wasn't entirely sure she even possessed. Leave her be. This isn't your fight. This had nothing to do with him. Nothing. Absolutely . . . nothing.
Killian rose to his feet, leaning toward one of the ladies. "Keep this seat warm for me, love," he said in a low voice near her ear as he winked. He didn't say anything to the men he was playing with, but instead, walked toward where Katalina was getting attacked. "Evening," he greeted nonchalantly, all too casually. It was enough to have the men cease what they were doing to her and stare at him. "This girl here is my property and I'd quite like her back." There. He was making it sound like that was all she was to him: property. But he knew that were some limits that even he had. Lines that should not be crossed. Things he did not condone. And a man forcing himself upon a woman was one of them.
"She can't be worth much," the main man leading this attack stated. He reached into his pocket and tossed a coin to the ground, at Killian's feet. "There. Now she's our property." The men snorted and he turned back to face the girl. Killian's expression altered for now, he had been insulted. To have money thrown at his feet like that?! The audacity of the man. He clearly had no idea who he was dealing with. "The asking part, was me being a gentleman," Killian stated. The man turned around to face him once again, clear annoyance on his face for the interruption and obviously not phased for he believed he had the greater advantage in numbers. But these men were nothing but drunken brutes.
"And tossin' the coin, was me bein' more than nice," the man said, evidently irritated. He began to walk up to Killian, his demeanor one that was welcoming a fight. Killian remained in place, his eyes fixated on the pathetic excuse of a supposed threat. Unlike this man here, Killian didn't need backup. "I've killed men for less," Killian stated, which caused the man to scoff at the suggestion. "Good thing you won't be able to kill me then," the man said confidently. He fisted his hand and swung at Killian. The pirate moved his head to the side, and in one swift motion, pushed the blade into the man's chest. He wasn't about to let the man live after what he had done, and while Killian knew he could use the excuse that it was because of how he insulted him, he knew it was more about what he had done -- was doing -- to Katalina. When Killian pulled his sword out of the man's chest, he fell lifelessly to the ground. Killian then looked at the other two men, still grasping Katalina. "Anyone else?" He taunted with a half smirk on his face.

Hey Bartender Pour em hot tonight til the party and the music and the truth collide ### WORDS TAG: Killian
BLABLA | Katalina didn't know what the outcome of this was going to be, and she didn't expect anyone to come to her rescue. So naturally, she pushed the thought of just going along with it aside and she continued her struggle, the other men smirking at her predicament. They'd been drinking too much, and they were enjoying the entertainment.
For a little bit of time, Killian was ignoring the situation, and Katalina wished that things were different, but they wouldn't be. As the main perpetrator moved his hand around her body, she glared and even tried to spit on him. He hit her right on the mouth, causing her to bite her tongue, and that was when Killian stepped in, saying good evening. She stared at him, in shock. Why would he step in when he didn't give a damn about her?
Except he did, Katalina realized. He cared enough to make a deal with her. That was the only explanation; he helps her out of this situation and she doesn't board his ship. That was the only possible explanation; she'd been warned that pirates don't truly care for anyone unless they're married. Even then it was focus on themselves.
Property? She was a piece of property? Katalina almost huffed at that; she didn't belong to anyone but she refrained. Killian was trying to get the jerks to step away from her. Though even she knew getting a coin tossed at their feet was an insult; she'd be the same way. Though the man falling with the sword hitched through his chest. She stared at the dead body for a moment, swallowing before her eyes fixated on Killian again. The two men that were holding her looked at each other, tossed her back against the bar again, and charged at Killian with all their might. She fell and as she did, she felt a pop in her ankle, crying out in pain. She got back up on her feet rather quickly.
Katalina tripped one of the men and even punched him, ignoring the pain coming from her ankle. She didn't know what was going to happen next, but she wasn't going to just stand there and watch.

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY Killian eyed the men as they looked at him in return, threw Katalina back, and then charged at him. He could feel the scene being watched by his crew, but at the same time . . . they knew better than to intervene in a fight that the Captain was currently engaging in. If he didn't feel confident, he wouldn't have stepped in. And to have his own backup would be rather offensive at this point. The odds were still in his favor for these men had no skill when it came to combat. They were just drunk brutes who preferred to overpower petite women because they wouldn't be able to handle themselves in a real fight. This, was proof of that.
One of the men fell when Katalina tripped him and then proceeded to punch him. She still seemed to have a little fight in her. But Killian was paying more attention to his attacker as he came at him. Killian ducked at one of the punches, moved to the side for the other, and then caught the man's arm at the third attempt, moving behind him and twisting his arm along with his movement, causing the man to cry out in pain as Killian quite successfully dislocated his shoulder. He then shoved the man and fisted his own hand, creating a strong impact between his fist and the man's jaw which was enough to the send the attack back, stumbling over a table and falling to the ground unconscious. It helped that Killian often wore rather large rings on his fingers . . . it added to the pain of punching someone.
He then focused on the other man that Katalina had punched, quickly taking advantage of the man's stunned state over unexpectedly getting tripped. "Allow me," Killian stated, grabbing the man by the front of his shirt and pulling him to his feet. He proceeded to knee him in the stomach, strike him across the face with his fist, and then he grabbed him again by his shirt and pushed him against the wall. With one hand, he still gripped the shirt and with the other, he swiftly pulled out a dagger and pressed the blade against the man's throat. Not enough to kill him, but enough to cut him with the sharpness of his weapon to show that he was not kidding.
"Best we never meet again. For if we do, I'll be the last person you will ever see, mate." Meaning, he best stay out of Killian's way and frequent taverns that the pirate didn't. With those words he struck the hilt of his dagger against the man's head, sending him the floor to join darkness with the other unconscious man. It was good to sometimes leave survivors, for they would be able to spread the word of Captain Killian Jones; a pirate not to be trifled with. He then smiled as his crew as they began cheering and applauding, taking in this histrionic display by slightly bowing in front of them as he had just put on a rather good show. His smile was an amused one for he had not for a moment been worried or phased by the men. After a few moments, his eyes went to Katalina, his smile fading as he just looked at her. Now the question began, what was he going to do with her?

Hey Bartender Pour em hot tonight til the party and the music and the truth collide ### WORDS TAG: Killian
BLABLA | Katalina felt herself starting to smirk as the man hit the floor with a thud. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Killian fighting the other man, twisting an arm until a pop came out of his shoulder. She cringed, but was thankful that he had helped after all, even if it meant she didn't go back on board this time.
When a crash sounded from the man going over the table occurred, Katalina snapped her head that direction. Then Killian took over taking care of the other guy and she figured then would be the best time to get her dress on right as it was slipping off her shoulders. She caught it before it showed any of her female attributes and she reached behind, trying to locate the zipper. Finally locating it, she got the dress back on right. She felt much better now that she didn't have to worry about flashing anyone in the bar.
The man that Katalina had punched was knocked out and Killian did a little bow to the crew that she would normally find amusing. When he looked at her, his smile disappeared. She stared back at him. She closed her eyes a moment later, water filling her eyes as she looked down. She considered herself a strong woman, but there were still things that could get her shaken up. She could face pirates and not fear getting killed, but for some reason getting attacked the way she did was catching up to her. She swallowed, trying to form words. "Thank you, Killian," she said shakily, using his name rather than Cap'n.
"I know what you want in return. I'll go get my stuff, and you'll never have to see me again." Katalina wanted to die on her own terms, but it seemed that she would have to find a different way now. She slowly turned to the door to leave, her ankle still throbbing with pain.

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY When Killian looked at Katalina, he didn't fail to notice the tears forming in her eyes. She thanked him -- with a rather informal title he might add -- and then spoke of how she would get her stuff and he'd never have to see her again. That was what he had wanted after all; for her to be off his ship so he wouldn't have to deal with her any longer.
He had his doubts as to whether she actually possessed the treasure she claimed to have had. So yes. This should be the most ideal situation. Her promise to leave, and his ability to return to his company and enjoy the rest of the night. He watched her move toward the door, and knew he may damn himself for asking this. If anyone else wondered, he could always use the excuse that she promised his treasure and that was why he continued to engage with her.n
The rest of the tavern returned to their own conversations as the silence now became replaced with chatter and the usual sounds that filled an active bar. He took a few steps after her, not quite following her, but ensuring he was within ear shot so that she could hear him. "What's so important at our destination that you need to get to?" He wondered. She had never told him the details, nor had he asked or cared. But now, he was giving her the opportunity to explain it. And perhaps, just perhaps, he would allow her passage on his ship after all.

BLABLA | Katalina felt ridiculous for being as stubborn as she was and then just giving up just because Killian helped her out of an impossible situation. She knew it was the good thing to do, and that was why she was going through with it. He certainly didn't have to stop his entertainment to ruin the brutes' entertainment.
Katalina heard the sounds of people going back to their business, which was fine with her. She was almost to the door when Killian asked her that question. She stopped, not looking at him. She considered just walking out, but went against it. Maybe she'd regret it and be ridiculed, but she was beyond caring at this point. "It was the last place I saw my mother alive."
Slowly turning towards Killian, Kat took a deep breath and her gaze went up and looked him in the eyes. "That's where I wanted to die. I just want to leave this life. I've lost my fiance the day we got engaged, because my father killed him."
Katalina barked out a bitter laugh. "I didn't mean to go on your ship. I just saw a ship that I thought for sure my father wouldn't find me on after he tried to kill me. Which is ironic." She looked down at her feet, the laughter gone from her voice. "Since I was in love with a pirate, and I was going to marry a pirate, I'm surprised my father didn't think of the possibility of me jumping on a pirate ship."

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY When Killian had asked the question he hadn't expected quite an elaborate and emotional response. He had thought the reason was a bit more simplistic than that, but apparently not. Apparently, the place held significant for it was where her mother died and where she wished to meet her end at her own hands. Due to her tragic loss of her fiancée by her father's hands. Talk about a dysfunctional family, indeed. She also mentioned that her fiancée had been a pirate, and that it was a surprise that her father hadn't assumed she would voyage on a pirate's ship with that connection.
"Perhaps he did consider it. We aren't the only pirates out there, even though we're the best ones," he said, fully believing the words for no other ship compared to the Jolly Roger and well, they had gained quite the reputation. He then paused, going back to her earlier words. He was not about to offer her compassionate sympathy or condolences . . . he was a pirate after all and neither of those traits were commonly found in pirates. "If you want to go there to end your life, then that is your decision," he began to say.
"It's quite cowardly though," he added, knowing she hadn't asked him but he was going to offer his blunt opinion and advice. "For it means you are admitting defeat. That your father won." If her father was trying to kill her and she fled . . . what was the point if she was going to kill herself anyway. "Instead of giving your father what he wants, why not avenge your finance's life by claiming vengeance on the man who took him from you." Wasn't that the logical thing to do, rather than depart from this world before claiming revenge?

BLABLA | Katalina realized that she just spewed out the story when he simply asked one question. That must have felt like opening Pandora's Box right there for him. Not many men felt like listening to a woman's issues. She expected Killian to be no different. Though he didn't chastise her like she half-expected him to do.
Killian had a good point about not being the only pirates out there, but she didn't say anything. She didn't feel like she needed to, so she only nodded at him. She felt down right now, not completely herself, but who could possibly blame her? She just poured out what she had been trying to avoid talking about for the longest time.
Though she did get offended when he told her what she was deciding was cowardly. Kat fidgeted, hiding her offensive feeling as he spoke and then she just stared at him. "He wants me to die by his hands so he feels like he has his dignity left in tact. Sure, he's still getting part of what he wants, but not what's most important if I end my own life. What else could I do?"
Katalina wanted another rum, but she didn't move from the spot her feet were currently planted on. She sighed, looking down at her feet before back up again. "What can I possibly do to the man that raised me?"

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY She further explained that her father wanted to kill her by his hands to save his dignity? He didn't understand. Nor did he want to. She then questioned what else could she do, and it was clear that she was already defeated. He was not one to offer consoling words or offer comfort. It was a surprise that he even said as much as he did. "What you wish to do is your own business, lass," he began to say.
"It is your life and your choice." Not his. He had voiced his opinion on the matter . . . the rest was up to her. But it was clear she had already made up her mind. "If you want passage on my ship, then you can have it." For he still wanted the treasure that was promised to him and his crew. "I merely felt the need to point out the irony of escaping your father who tried to kill you, only to later kill yourself." And he had done that. Perhaps his job here was done then; well, besides navigating and captaining the ship toward their now shared destination. For the rest was up to her.

BLABLA | Katalina didn't move from her spot and the last question was an honest one. She honestly didn't know what she could do. It was more than obvious she couldn't fight him. Killian had to step in to the last fight she was having. She still didn't know what to say and it seemed that he was leaving it up to her.
"I'm serious, Killian. Tonight proves I'm not really much of a match for anybody. So how can I go up against my father?" It was really an honest question. Nobody would be willing to teach her how to use a sword, much less fight. The men had hardly cast a glance at her the whole time she was on the ship.
Another comment from Killian shocked her, and she had to say something. "You've been trying to ditch me from the moment I first snuck on your ship. And I tell you I won't board this time, and now you are saying I can be on it? Which is it? Do you want me gone or do you want me on to go to the destination?"
This was difficult for Katalina and she looked at the captain, meeting his eyes. "I can't fight. I don't have another choice."

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY She told him that she wasn't a match for anyone, questioning how she could go against her father. "You play to your strengths, and use them to your advantage." So what she lacked in physical strength, she could make up for in speed. He had seen those smaller than her take down their opponents, but obviously Killian was not going to get into that. "You already have a defeatist attitude. Not much can be helped with a mindset like that. It's bad form." And he was not going to try to motivate or inspire her. That wasn't his job nor part of the arrangement.
She appeared to be shocked by his words, and then questioned as to whether he wanted her off the ship, or wanted her to their destination. "It's not about what I want," he began to tell her. "We've struck an accord. I will take you to your destination, for all the treasure you offered." He paused for a moment, still, as always, having his doubts about the extent of this treasure. "Unless of course you have been lying all along," he suggested, just putting that suggestion out there so that he could see her reaction to it.
Her last remark, regarding her inability to fight and having no other choice . . . well, Killian found it to be rather, unimpressive. "So the only alternative is killing yourself?" He questioned rhetorically. "Sounds like a real coward's way out." He didn't approve of cowardice, and he had thought that perhaps she was different with how she had boldly come onto his ship and confronted him. But alas, he was wrong. What a bloody shame.

Hey Bartender Pour em hot tonight til the party and the music and the truth collide ### WORDS TAG: Killian
BLABLA | Katalina seemed to think that now was the time to listen, rather than to keep talking, so she closed her mouth and listened to what Killian had to say. Some of what he had been saying did start seeping into her thought process, and she slowly seemed turned around on it, but she still had her hesitant moments with it all. She looked down at the ground, not even sure what to say at this point. All she knew was that Killian was right.
Rubbing the back of her neck, Katalina looked back up at the captain. She was wondering just what he was thinking, but she didn't even ask. It wasn't a necessity to know. "Again, with the questioning about treasure? For the god-knows-how- many time, No, I am not lying about the treasure." Yes, a bit of annoyance slipped in her tone, and that was because she certainly hadn't been lying any other time the question came up.
Katalina then nodded. "It does, doesn't it?" Her hands went up in the air with frustration before she sat herself down with a bit of force, crossing her arms around her stomach, her face in an angry form. "I'm sure you've noticed by now that I may talk the talk. What I need to do is learn how to fight so I can walk the walk, so to speak. But how am I going to learn how to fight? I think learning by some sort of book or trying to teach myself may not be my best option."
