Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY She clearly grew agitated when he questioned the existence of the treasure. He didn't trust her though. Why should he? One did not gain or sustain their role as Captain by blindly trusting every person who claimed they had treasure. No. He would believe it when he saw it.
"Best watch your tone, lass. Or I may change my mind," he told her, also not accepting being spoken to in this way. He still held rank above her on his ship . . . and if she was to join them -- as he was now allowing her to -- then she best remember it. She then went on to say that she needed to learn how to add meaning to her words by learning to fight. She did have quite the mouth of her, but when challenged . . . well, tonight proved that she did indeed need some help in at least basic self defense.
"It's a shame you are planning to end your own life then," he began to say. "Otherwise, you could have learned a thing or two about combat being aboard my ship for the duration of the journey. But alas, I won't be bothered with wasting my time if all my efforts will be futile and go to waste." Since she was planning to kill herself . . . he was not going to waste the time or energy on someone who did not plan to live. Not unless she gave him a reason to do so.

What I'm Really Needing Now is another shot of crown
Katalina gave an indignant huff, knowing all too well that the captain was making a point to pull rank on her right then. That wasn't fair, her inner voice told her, but she squashed it quickly. She knew she shouldn't have raised her voice at him like that, not when he had gotten the slime balls off of her. She smiled, but it definitely was not a happy one. More bitter, she supposed. "Sorry, but it doesn't make sense. You were wanting to be rid of me. Now you're saying I can stay on the ship. Which I'll gladly accept, don't get me wrong," she hastily added.
Katalina knew that Killian wasn't trying to convince her to keep her life, but she was beginning to see his point. Stubborn pirate...she let out a long sigh, before she ran a hand through her hair. "You're right. Damn it, but you're right." She wanted to smack him because she didn't like the fact he was right at that moment.
Katalina had to change her plans, and fast if she was going to exact revenge on the asshole she had called 'Dad' for so long. She lifted her gaze to meet his, and she gave in. "If I told you that I won't commit suicide, will you help me? Because if I'm not going down, that motherfucker certainly is."

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY She continued to express her confusion of how he had wanted to get rid of her, yet now was willing to offer her passage. "Getting rid of you didn't exactly work. And besides, we had an agreement. When treasure is involved, I tend to keep my word . . . for the most part." That was a slight lie; deceit was all part of being a pirate. Though there still were codes to adhere to. She then admitted he was right and he could help but give a slight arrogant smirk of satisfaction. "That can't have been easy to say," he said tauntingly regarding her admittance. She then seemed to change her mind about her intentions and asked that if she promised to remain alive, if he would teach her. He then took a couple of steps toward her.
"If you give me your word that my efforts won't be done in vain, then aye. I will help you." He knew he would have no choice but to trust her word. Or perhaps trust was too strong a word. He still barley knew her. "Starting with how to use a sword." There were many forms of combat, but in this case, her best chance would be with a sword. "Do we have an agreement?" He asked, waiting for confirmation before he himself agreed to anything at all. He didn't believe in charity cases, but she was going to be on his ship until they arrived at the destination. Why not teach her how to defend herself properly and eventually . . . attack the source of her vengeance.

What I'm Really Needing Now is another shot of crown
Katalina calmly listened as Killian explained how he couldn't seem to get rid of her and when it involved treasure, he mostly kept his word. She accepted it, and she didn't ask any more questions about it. Though she did roll her eyes when he said that it must have been hard for her to say. "Oh, so difficult. Like you wouldn't believe."
Katalina knew that Killian would most likely have her give him her word about not killing herself, and sure enough, that was the next statement out of his mouth. "I give you my word. I vow I will not kill my self and waste your time." She wasn't sure what else she could say. And then he mentioned the first lesson would be in sword fighting. Oh goodness...She'll probably poke someone's eye out with the thing. "We might want to take that one slowly, otherwise I might poke an eye out. And that would be disgusting and painful."
Killian asked if they had an agreement and Kat bit her lip for a moment. Was she really doing this? A week ago, she was dead set on dying. Now here she was re-evaluating her decisions. Yes. She supposed she was. "We have an agreement, Cap'n."

Live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY She confirmed that it was indeed difficult and then went on to give him her word, that she would not make his efforts useless. Her words about potentially poking someoen's eye out caused him to smirk. "Well if you did, that would certainly give into the cliche of a pirate wearing an eyepatch," he joked. "So long as it's not my eye," he added on.
At her words of how they had an agreement, he gave a short nod. "Well not that it's settled, I intend to enjoy what remains of this night. So you can either join me and the others for a round of drinks, or do . . .whatever else it is you intended to," he stated, unsure how she had planned to spend her evening. His nights were fairly similar when they went to taverns: drinks, telling stories of adventure, gambling, and then leaving with a lass for the night. Ah, the joys of a night at the tavern. Yet as she was a woman, he wasn't sure what her own plans were, not had he previously cared to ask.
