David couldn’t believe how he could have been so blind. He had been at Grannys with his family, so focused on one of them missing, that he hadn’t realized it was really two of them missing. It was just glance to the side that reminded him of it. He sat removed from them, when he should sit there in their middle, being protected by them, supported by them, like he had supported this family without being asked to. No wonder this man looked so lost. Because no one, apart from Belle made an effort to go to him. They had their priorities wrong, so very wrong. As hey made an effort to leave and Granny wanting to close up, David stopped her. He promised her to lock up after her, while Snow and the others left for home. Then he just sat down next to Killian. David had not flask, though if he had one, he would offer it to him. He knew Snow would put her money on Regina saving the day, but just looking at the man next to him, David had another urge. Why was Regina the logical choice for everyone else? Someone else, though without magic, made much more sense.
“We’ll get her back.” It was maybe a vote of confidence in all of them, but mostly in three men. While Snow was going one way, just sitting here, David realized there were three people in this town, who would never pick Regina over Emma, who would do anything to get her back, even sacrifice a life. And one has been sacrificed, or should have been, it the curse followed normal rules. This was a conversation for another day, though. “You, Henry and me, we will get her back. I promise you that. Whatever it takes.”
