Everyone had their opinions of Emma Swan as the Dark One. Some were accepting, while most were weary, and wanting to change her for her safety. She felt, deep down, that they were only doing it for themselves. Even the love of her life was on the fence of his feelings for her as the dark one. However, deep down, there was hope that perhaps no one really felt this way. That this was just a ploy to try to get her to show her good side again. No matter. She was embracing the darkness. She didn't need any of them. Which is why, she found herself walking down the streets of Storybrooke alone. In the middle of the night. When no one else was around. The town went to sleep early most nights. Killian had been mostly staying on his ship, and everyone else in the comfort of their own homes. Even Granny's was empty.
She found herself standing outside of the police station, staring at it. To think that she was once the sheriff.. the law. The savior. Everything all mixed in to one...and now she was an evil threat in the town. It was all so..surreal. In the back of her mind, she could hear the voice of the Dark One, tempting her to do cruel things, or to find solitude.. but she was ignoring it for now. She needed some time to reflect on her past. Something she'd probably never get to do again. Just then, she heard footsteps. Someone had been approaching her..but why were they out so late at night? "I hear you," She called. "It's not very smart to sneak up on the Dark One..isn't that what they're saying?"

The situation was one of horror for David. He didn’t know what to do with himself or how to feel. He felt out of control in more than one way. And while he was used to sharing a heart now, it felt even more like being without it before. Maybe it was because he was missing his daughter, maybe because of how the town had changed in the days she was so obviously the Dark One. David didn’t understand. Usually Regina would make fun of him for that, but she wasn’t here right now, busy with claiming a title that was never hears and would never be rightfully hers. It was the quiet moments, where he thought his thoughts were mostly his and the feelings as well. They made sense again. In those moments he wanted to be close to his little girl again. He loved Neal, but Emma was his little girl. Neal would have everything Emma never got and he craved to be there for her now, to not let her down again.
David was surprised to find her standing right in front of his destination. His little girl. David craved to just hug her, now that his thoughts were just his. “I didn’t. I was… on my way to the station. Oh Emma.” He wanted to reach out so bad, but it could backfire. He didn’t want it to backfire, not for his sake, but for hers. He had wanted to go to her office, look at her things and think, maybe cry over the terrible twisted and painful situation. “Can I hug you, Emma?” He had to ask, had to try. He wanted to hold her, even if that was all he could do at the moment. Whatever happened, she was his little girl. He just wanted to hold her.

Emma didn't know why she was here, aside from merely to appreciate the irony of how she got here in the first place. Why she was supposed to be here. Destiny sure had a way of being a complete asshole, that was for sure. It seemed like David was at a loss for words when he spotted Emma. It was what she had said, that tripped him up. She turned to look at him while he spoke, but said nothing. He then asked her if he could hug her... which surprised her. It wasn't normally a question the Charmings would ask. Even her mother...well..she wondered if she was too afraid to hug her. Killian would kiss her, but only to see if true love's kiss would snap her out of 'it'. But this..was a question. And it confused her.
The vision of Rumple wasn't there, and so, she felt a little more free at the moment. Still though, she didn't want to show too much softness. But then.. she didn't want to completely turn away from her father, either. Despite what everyone thought..she did care for them still. Even though what happened in Camelot was intense. She stared at him for a long moment, before opening her arms. "...come on, then. Bring it in." She knew the hug would maybe be nice..even though she wouldn't admit it. Admitting it would probably mean that Rumple's stupid face would show up to tell her off again, and no one needed that.

She allowed him to hug her! Really, truly. David didn’t want to question it. He had not reason to, though he knew he should. This was his daughter, his beloved little girl, darkness or not. He felt like it should still be his job to protect her, though he didn’t know how. How did someone protect someone else from something inside them? He didn’t know. All he knew was that he could finally hold his beloved child once more. He could finally have Emma in his arms, cling to her and smell her. She smelled differently than he was used to, but David was more than understanding of it. She had her own place now, her parents smell, the smell of their home would no longer cling to her.
“I was on my way to the station, Emma. I didn’t know if you wanted to see us – me. I didn’t want to face rejection. I miss you. I… I wanted to be close to you in some way. The only way that came to my mind was the box and your office. I miss you. You could come home. The door is open, Emma.” And he would keep it open, no matter what Snow thought. He missed his kid, dark one or not. Neal obviously missed his sister. He noticed it in the way he was looking around clearly missing something.

Everyone had a different approach to Emma's current.. affliction. David's seem to be to accept her..but to want her back at home. That wasn't an option..and she knew that deep down, he knew that too. She sighed softly when she hugged him. His smell, unlike her's, hadn't changed. It was familiar, one that she had quickly learned to associate with her father. It was something she was sure that the other Dark Ones didn't have.. parents that wanted to fight for them with every bit of strength they had. But, she was still the ultimate evil.. completely surrounded by the darkness. "You know I can't come home, Dad." She spoke quietly, pulling out of the hug. She didn't leave though. She stayed there, standing in front of him, staring at his face.
"Look.. I know you, and mom want me back home. And trust me.. I miss my brother. But i'm not the sheriff anymore. I'm not the savior, i'm not.." She paused. He was too smart for that. He could probably see right through her, and that wasn't okay. She had to be more careful. "You won't find me in memories at the station.. the closest thing you're going to get is standing right in front of you. And if you, or mom, or Killian, or anyone else can't see that, then I don't know what to tell you."
