[break] Rufio hadn't been in Neverland long. Just long enough to move his way up the ranks, and for Pan to make him his second. Truth be told, Rufio was having a bit of difficulty adjusting to being told what to do. While Pan gave them freedom, they were also confined at the same time. But if he had to pick a place to be . . . well, he'd much rather be his right hand man rather than have no authority at all.[break][break] Right now, Rufio was familiarizing himself with the land. He still hadn't explored all of this island, but he sure as hell wanted to. It was a curious place, but anything was better than where he had come from. Here, he felt a sense of purpose -- for now anyway. [break][break] [attr="class","sexy_quote"]"Rise up and take the power back" Rufio had just reached the top of a small cliff, not finding it all too difficult to catch his breath once he got up the steep incline. He stepped closer toward the edge, peering down at the water, and the seemingly far distance it was at. He'd heard rumors about dwelled below.[break][break] Rumors of mermaids. Though he had not encountered any -- not here, not in the Enchanted Forest -- he had to admit that he was intrigue by them. From what he had been told several were here, and they traveled with ease between the realms. Fascinating indeed. He suddenly heard someone -- or something singing. And it immediately captured him. While Rufio just stood there, trying to determine the source, his distracted state disallowed him to realize that the edge of the cliff was weak, and that the ground was starting to crumble due to his weight on it. [break][break] Before he knew it, or could stop it, he fell into the depths of the water. What made it worse was that he had hit his shoulder on one of the rocks below, and it was quite difficult to swim with only one arm, as he felt an intense pain in the other. That didn't deter him from trying though. All he could do was wave one arm to try to swim to the surface, but with his wound and heavy currents, it was to no avail. He was going to drown. What a damn pathetic way to go. Ashleigh wasn't sure how long it had been since her encounter with Hook, but the weight remained on her heart that loves were lost because of her stupidity. She hadn't been allowed back to love with her family, it didn't matter what vengeance she sought in her family's name, she would probably never be allowed back. And every day that passes while she remained alone, her heart grew colder and angrier at that damn pirate. It hadn't felt like enough, he hasn't suffered enough. And she knew he wouldn't until he lost something or someone that equaled the value of love she felt for her people. Ashleigh had been so lost in her own thought, it took her longer than usually to realize there was someone approaching. Usually this area was a spot she could depend on being alone, the Pirates and the humans didn't usually think this small cliff was worth exploring. Her brow furrowed, and her mind immediately assumed it was a pirate, she probably would never feel a nice way about them after being crossed by Hook. Without a thought, Ashleigh began singing, wanting to lead whoever it was was closer and closer to the edge of the cliff that was just above her. Her voice laced with the potential to jump right off cliff sang through the air towards whoever it was that was disrupting her solitude, but she stopped when she caught a glimpse at who it was. He didn't look like a pirate, just an ordinary human. Her eyes narrowed at what he was wearing, he looked like a lost boy, one of Pan's boys. She had decided it was probably best to leave him alone. No one really dared to cross Peter in Neverland, it was a death wish if you did. But she had decided too late. The edge of the cliff had began to crumble and she watched as he fell into the water, the debris hitting his shoulder as he fell. Ashleigh had never struggled with the idea of saving a human before, she had never actually saved one. It just wasn't in her nature to do so. If anything it was the opposite. It was in her nature to lure them to their deaths, to drown them. But she eyed the water where he had fallen in and could feel in her gut, she couldn't live with herself if another life was on her hands. And without another thought, Ashleigh had dived into the water with ease, swimming towards the boy who was trying and failing to swim with one good arm. She wrapped her arms around his chest from behind, and began to swim to the surface, pulling him with her towards the shore, right below the cliff he had just fallen from. She had no idea what do at this point. Humans needed air, right? Air from her own lungs maybe? She wondered in her head before she leaned forward to breathe into his lungs and pushed on his chest lightly. When there was no immediate movement, she instantly just tried to smack him across the face to try and wake him. Devon Peregrine

[break] Rufio had been so sure he was going to drown. He had slipped into an unconscious state, or perhaps it was death were his last thoughts. The darkness however did not last forever. Soon enough, he felt some much needed air being pushed into his lungs and he fought to come back to the conscious world. [break][break] He then felt a sharp strike against his cheek. While it didn't hurt it did surprise him. He wasn't used to getting slapped across the face. Furthermore . . . who would slap him? The Lost Boys were more the kind of people who would punch another, not slap. [break][break] [attr="class","sexy_quote"]"Rise up and take the power back" Rufio began to cough, water spilling from his mouth as he titled his head to the side to let it come out onto the ground. His vision was a bit hazy and his head was pounding, but once he could see properly again . . . he saw a women. Well, not exactly a woman. But most certainly a female. [break][break] "What the hell . . ." He said as he jolted to sit in an upright position. He would need to orientate himself before he even attempted to stand up. His eyes were on the woman, who didn't look like any ordinary woman at all.[break][break] "Who are you?" He asked bluntly. Based on the current circumstances, he felt it was a safe assumption that she saved his life. But the thank you would come later. First, he wanted to know who she was. That was of course when he noticed the tail. She was a . . . "Mermaid," he finsihed his sentence aloud. His expression remained stoic, but inwardly, that intrigue he felt for meeting a mermaid was finally able to be satisfied. Ashleigh couldn't help but just sort of start at the boy who was laying there limp. She wondered if she had failed again, been the reason someone had died. She had hesitated and contemplated not diving in after him. But, then the body stirred, and she watched as he turned to his side and coughed out some of the water that had begun to fill his lungs. Initially, she wanted to hop back into the water and swim away. She hadn't had many experiences with humans, but the ones she had were not pleasant. But, this was a new feeling, something different and light. She had helped someone, saved someone. Was that what she was to do with her life as a mermaid now? Be one of light and good and help people? It did seem to come with it's own perks, she felt rather good about herself in this moment.
She fell back a bit when he jolted up, a bit startled but continued to stare at him. She assumed the appropriate thing to say in a scenario like this was give thanks. So, Ashleigh crossed her arms across her chest, and gave the boy a look. "Yes, I only helped and saved you life no need to say thank you or anything." She rolled her eyes a bit, knowing expecting thanks sort of defeated the purpose of doing something out of the kindness of your heart. Eh, but what could she do? Most mermaids were cold hearted anyway, at least in Neverland. "My name is Ashleigh. And I am pretty sure I saved you life. You were looking a little pasty there." She didn't want to admit she had actually been a bit concerned he wouldn't cough out the blood, or that she was relieved he did. Her reasons were her own, anyway. "Yes, clearly there is a fin here attached to my body. Have you never seen a mermaid before?" She had found it hard to believe that , what appeared to be a lost boy, hadn't seen a mermaid before. Some weren't the hiding type. "And you are?" Devon Peregrine

[break] She was expecting a thank you. That only made Rufio not want to give one. He was sometimes like a child; when someone told him not to do something, that was exactly what he would do. Or if someone expected something of him, he wouldn't do it. He hated listening to others and while Pan was a form of authority here -- the ultimate authority -- he hadn't told Rufio to do anything overly commanding. Yet. There was this whole notion of freedom over here, and Rufio was still exploring that. [break][break] "Good. Cause I wasn't going to." Say thank you. Though That wasn't entirely true. He knew a thank you was in order, but he couldn't resist right now. She then introduced herself . . . and called him pasty. [break][break] [attr="class","sexy_quote"]"Rise up and take the power back" "And you aren't going to let me forget it, are you?" He questioned rhetorically -- and a bit sarcastically -- in response to her words about having saved him. "If you're looking for some sort of reward, talk to Pan. I don't have anything to give you." He was being even more sarcastic now. But truth be told, deep down, he knew how right she was. She had saved his life.[break][break] Rufio adjusted a little more, blinking a few more times to get the water out of his eyes as he ruffled a hand through his dripping wet curls. "No," he responded bluntly to her inquiry about having seen a mermaid before. "I heard of your kind. But this is my first time meeting one. Lucky me." Though, it really was luck. Lucky that she had found him; lucky that she had saved him.[break][break] He then decided to give in to social protocol and return the introduction, as well as answer her question. "Rufio," he responded. "Pan's second." Because that surely gave him sort of position here . . . even if it was not the ultimate person in charge. "I gotta admit, what I heard about your kind, didn't make it seem like you're the type to save a drowning person." But she had. And he wondered why. He hated the feeling of owing someone something, yet it seemed he now did. Damn it. But . . . at least he was alive he supposed.[break][break] [break] [attr="class","sexy_title2"]tag: @ashleigh [newclass=.sexy_container]width:450px; margin: 0 auto; border-radius: 4px;background-color: #0c0c0c; padding-bottom:15px; border: 1px solid #dd0b15;[/newclass] [newclass=.sexy_text]font-family:cambria;font-size:12px;color:#ffffff;border-radius:2px;border:1px #dd0b15 solid;background-color: #000000; padding:3px;text-align:justify;[/newclass] [newclass=.sexy_title]font-family:Dancing Script;font-size:26px;color:#dd0b15;[/newclass] [newclass=.sexy_title2]font-family:Glegoo;font-size:11px;color:#dd0b15;margin-top:-20px;font-weight:bold;margin-bottom:-10px;[/newclass] [newclass=.sexy_date]font-family:Glegoo;font-size:10px;color:#dd0b15;text-align:right;[/newclass] [newclass=.sexy_quote]width:230px;font-family:Glegoo;font-size:20px;color:#dd0b15;text-align:center;border-top-left-radius:2px;border-bottom-left-radius:2px;border-left:1px #dd0b15 solid;border-top:1px #dd0b15 solid;border-bottom:1px #dd0b15 solid;background-color:#0c0c0c;float:right;margin-right:-4px;margin-left:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.sexy_notes]width:428px;font-family:Cinzel;font-size:10px;color:#ffffff;text-align:justify;margin-right:-5px;background-color:#0c0c0c;[/newclass]

Neverland had a way of making everyone's inner immature child come out. It was almost as though you didn't really have a choice. Ashleigh had been noticing that the more time she spent on the shores and dealing with people, the more time she too seemed to give into her child like attitude. She rolled her eyes again at his tone and sighed. "Good, won't hold my breath on a lost boy knowing how to be grateful." She mumbled and shook her head.
She shrugged her shoulders at his next remark. She was clueless to the rhetoric or the sarcasm that drooled from his words. Instead she thought for a moment before answering. "It's probably the only decent thing I've done in awhile, so probably not." She spoke a bit low. "I don't need any reward. Especially not from Pan." Her tone probably wasn't one that sounded very friendly as Pan's name escaped her mouth. But clearly dealing with Peter Pan always came at a cost. All she had done before was let some information slip, and somehow one of Hook's men had died. Surely Pan didn't care too much about that, even though the feeling was beginning to fester inside of Ashleigh.
She shrugged a bit, "I suppose so. With the way Pan has all you boys roaming about I assumed you all knew everyone and everything on this island." She looked back over at him. "What were you even doing up there anyway?" Ashleigh asked.
She eyed him when he introduced himself, at first because she actually hadn't expected him to sort of give in and introduce himself, but also because he said he was Pan's second. Her eyes widened a little, Ash wasn't sure if that meant he was just like Pan. Clearly the boy was a manipulative liar, this Rufio could clearly be the same way. She scooted a little on the sand, moving over a little. "We don't usually. I suppose I'm trying to turn over a new leaf. Maybe you should consider yourself lucky." Ashleigh shrugged and looked over eyeing the water. "Is your arm okay?" She asked remembering the debris from the rocks had injured his shoulder. "Salt water is actually a great way to help clean and heal up wounds like that."
