Earlier, Ashleigh had felt as though she had made the right decision. A life for a life sounded like an equal price, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she had made a terrible mistake. Because of her carelessly choices, not only had one of her fellow mermaids died, but now a pirate. One of Hook's crew that probably had only been following orders. No, the only person who she should have truthfully went to seek her revenge out against was Hook himself, he was the man who double crossed her. Ashleigh's family had specifically warned her about humans, Pirates in particular. But of course she hadn't listened, blindly putting her faith in a man that was clearly the epitome of what her family was trying to warn her about.
What's done was done. Ashleigh didn't have the power to go back and change what had happened. She ultimately wanted to know if what she had done was enough to satiate her hunger for revenge. A small slip of the tongue, a simple mention to Pan of what Hook had planned. Ashleigh knew Peter never let anyone off his island unless he wanted, and she was sure he wouldn't prefer Hook gallivanting off to another world. She had no idea that it would end in bloodshed, but a price was paid for her ignorance again. A life.
She swam through the waters, a feeling that usually comforted her and brought her joy, but she was on her way to the Jolly Roger. It was almost as though she needed to see it to believe it herself, see the damaged she had caused. Her thoughts had been distracted, and she hadn't realized how close to the ship she actually was until the netting had engulfed her. She had no idea if Hook or his men had spotted her and that was why the net seemed to trap her, or if it was just coincidence. But, Ash knew it was bad news. The men would figure out she was trapped in the netting eventually, and she would loose the upper hand that she had. There would be no sneaking around and sniffing out if the rumors of Hook's loss was true in secret now.
