.:Height:. 6"2'
.:Portrayed by:. Erick Elias| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Clopin is a performer. He puts on shows for the people of Notre Dame, inclusive of singing, puppet shows, story telling, magic tricks, and sometimes acrobatics. This makes up a huge part of his personality as he is shown to be a man with a fantastic sense of humor and is able to captivate an audience with his voice and humor. He is an entertaining individual and very musically inclined. He is also intelligent, having a great deal of knowledge when it comes to the history of his people and the land he resides in. While Clopin projects this personality of an entertainer, there is a darker side to him.
He is known to have a morbid sense of humor, and is quite hyperactive. He also does things that sometimes calls his sanity question (i.e. having conversations with himself). All in all, he is a decent fellow. He cares greatly for his people, and has a soft spot for children. He does all he can to ensure their safety and increasingly grows angered at how they are persecuted by Frollo.
.:Strengths:. Singing (and other aspects of performing), knowledgable, strong leadership skills
.:Weaknesses:. Hyperactive, presumably his sanity, can have a short attention span.| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Notre Dame
.:Family:. He is an orphan, but Esmerelda's family took him in and he was raised by them, growing up with Esmerelda
.:Occupation:. 'King' of Gypsies
.:History:. Clopin was born in Notre Dame to parents unknown. He was orphaned at a young age and brought up by a family that were very good friends of his parents. They too had a daughter by the name of Esmerelda, and the two of them grew up happily together. The Court of Miracles was indeed a special area, located in a secretive location in Notre Dame. It was called: The Court of Miracles. It was here that gypsies lived to hide from Judge Claude Frollo, ruler of the land. He waged a genocide against gypsies and often arrests and kills them even without probable cause. Growing up, Clopin had a simple and modest lifestyle. It was evident at an early age that he was a performer, possessing a talent and gift for making people laugh and entertaining them with song and story telling. He set to work on the streets when he was a boy, collecting coin from passerbys. As he grew older, he took a leadership role among the gypsies, along with Esmerelda. He strove to make sure everyone had food and basic necessities, and that they were looked after. The two of them together became the leaders of the gypsies.
Their secret hideout has not yet been discovered and if there is ever a threat of discovery, Clopin is sure to eliminate it well before the intruder makes their way past the dark, sinister tunnels into the heart of the city. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time. Frollo became consumed with his hate for gypsies and waged a genocide against them, capturing and executing them with no cause whatsoever. The soldiers discovered their location and Clopin and Esmerelda had just enough time to evacuate. However, staying behind to make sure everyone was out, placed them at great risk. They managed to escape, but separately from their people. They wandered through the Enchanted Forest until they somehow found themselves in an entirely new land... where their story continues.| ~ • ~ | Sample Post | ~ • ~ |
YOU WON'T LIVE TO TELL THE TALE
Clopin was returning from a busy day at the main market. He had to retrieve some supplies and it often took twice as long to ensure he was not followed. Success had met him. And he now made his way through the dark tunnels toward the brighter city in which he called home. He was greeted by a couple of children who hurried toward him. He smiled and scooped up two of them in his arms as he walked forward, starting to tell them his venture to the market... obviously making it sound far more exciting than it actually was.
When he reached his destination, he set the children down, ruffling their hair before sending them on their way to find their parents. He then went into one of the homes of an elderly couple. "I got it," he stated, causing them to immediately breathe a sigh of relief. Important and expensive ingredient for a medicine. Clopin had of course stolen it, but it was well worth it. If Frollo insisted on forcing them to live in such conditions, then they had to do what they could to survive. Though he supposed the point was that they not survive this. That gypsies wither away and eventually die from the circumstances he forced upon them.
He picked up a cup and poured the ingredient inside, mixing it together before handing it to the man who had been confined to bed rest. "Take this thrice a day, and you should feel better," he instructed. The man did as told, and his wife thanked Clopin for his help. He didn't need thanks. This was his job. His and Esmerelda's. Perhaps one day, they could live in freedom, unafraid of Frollo's wrath. But until then... this was their lives. And they had to be content with that. So long as the Court of Miracles remained undiscovered, everything would be ok.
