Snow supposed she should have seen this day coming. Living with her father and step-mother she'd been somewhat shielded from the world of young adults. But despite the coddling of her father she knew where her destiny, and duty, rested. Through a marriage with a neighboring kingdom she would be bringing her family and subjects prosperity and safety. Her parents had been arranged to marry by their fathers and had developed a strong love for each other. The princess could only hope for the same. Although, with the rumors of Prince James' attitude, she highly doubted it.
She'd never come across the young royal though she'd heard plenty about his reputation. He was a talented sportsman and warrior; few were better than he with a sword in their hand. Yet his talent had gone to his head leading to him developing quite the conceited attitude. He also held a reputation of being quite the womanizer. If Leopold had lovers during his marriage to both her mother and Regina Snow was unaware. Yet this prince seemed to flaunt his affairs. Would he put a stop to them upon marrying her? She was unsure.
With dread she watched as a group of strangers road across the stone bridge leading to the castle, signalling the arrival of her soon-to-be husband. Snow White gathered her courage, not intending for her future husband to see her misgivings before going down to the entrance hall to greet him. She paused beside her father, gently taking his offered arm.

David sat patiently in the carriage. He was being made to marry a princess of the neighboring kingdom in an effort to bring the two together. David used to be against the notion of Arranged Marriages but the kingdom was in trouble and he had to do what was best for the kingdom. Since his brother's death David had to take his place he had learn much from his nearly Adopted father King George yet still missed his mother alot. Though he knew that was he was doing was best for the kingdom.
David had been told very little of this Snow White. She was the daughter of King Leopald and The step daughter of Regina. He was nervous he knew that James had had a reputation with the women in his kingdom and David was trying his best to change that image for the better of the kingdom though George had said that it was fine David wasnt his brother and he wasnt going to be a womanizer within the kingdom.
As the Carriage arrived he looked over at George who simply motioned for to exit the Carriage he nodded and got out looking around the place as they made their way to the entrance of the castle. David was standing close to George as they made their way into the Enterance hall and over to the King and princess that were awaiting them " King Leopald Allow me to introduce my Son James" George had said. David took a bow and smiled to Snow and her father " I can't tell you what a honor it is to be here" He looked at The princess and Smiled before taking her hand and kissing it. " and a pleasure to make your aquitance as well Princess." Smiling as he released it and looked at her.

Snow took note of how handsome he was. Princes tended to look as such and she reminder herself that despite his pleasing outward appearance, his inner self could be quite ugly. She hoped the reports she'd heard of Prince James had been exaggerated for her own sake. She curtsied to the two visitors, rising up with a straight back. Her mother had taken the effort to ensure that her daughter knew her courtesies and could represent herself befitting her station. "The honor is mine," she countered, placing a polite smile on her lips.
She allowed the prince to press a kiss to her knuckles, taking note of his politeness. She figured it could be an act, although he did seem sincere. Leopold urged his guests to follow him into the drawing room where refreshments would be served. Snow followed after her father, sending a sidelong glance at James. She wondered if what she was witnessing was the truth.
"I hope your journey was not too tiring," she spoke to him, figuring polite conversation was safe to start with.

As David followed his father and Snow and her father to the drawing room. He looked around this palace was absolutely incredible he had never seen a place this big. David followed and then looked over at snow smiling. She was breathtaking and David though not a fan of arranged marriages was glad that he had went along with this one he didn't know how he felt but as he looked at her he knew that this was where he was suppose to be. Looking back up at her as she asked about his journey David simply smiled and nodded. " It was different. I'm normally used to wal.." He caught himself almost letting slip that he wasn't James.
" Use to watching my father's servants driving me around the kingdom" He looked at her and then changed the subject. " You have a lovely palace Princess." David looked down he hated having to put on this act for the kingdom's sake it was horrible it wasn't who he was and he knew that. He watched Snow and then looked up as his adopted father was talking to her father. He looked at her.
" No the journey was quite comfotable." He looked at her and smiled a Charming smile before looking back over at George who simply looked over and him smiling and nodding his approval of him taking an interest in Snow but, David was glad he did. She seemed unique and David liked that.

Snow frowned slightly at his slip in explanation though he covered himself well. She took a goblet of wine from a tray of a waiting servant, giving the liveried young man a smile in thanks. She'd taken her mother's last lesson to heart; no matter what one's status is in life all should be treated with love and respect. She took a sip from the red wine, the liquid causing a bit of a burning feeling in her chest.
"Thank you," she responded to his compliment. She supposed he was evaluating it, seeing as it would be his one day as well as hers. She wondered if he would insist on changing anything. She would not abide any alterations to the Summer Palace. She had far too much good memories of her mother and father together there to think of changing a single thing.
"I'm glad to hear that," she said, her tone polite. She certainly could care less that his journey hadn't been too tiring though she knew she must appear at least that the thought interested her. Courtly manners were a bore at times.

David watched her as she smiled and thought it was beautiful then she looked to him and thanked him for the complete. " Of Course" David could tell that he wasn't giving the best impression at the moment and was searching through his head for way to change that surely if he blew this King George would be upset. As He looked over them the thought of those two talking about David and Snow's future together infruiated David he had always wanted to marry for love and he still did.
He looked at Snow and Smiled before speaking again. " So Being a princess must be amazing. David still didn't feel like a prince at times and was reluctant to call himself that when not in public with his father. He didn't want people to see him as a ruler but as a person someone they could come to in their time of need.
As he looked around the room he looked back to snow and smiled. " Is there perhaps somewhere more private we might could talk and i could get to know you? If we're to be married it be best i know of the woman who will one day be my wife" He said looking at her his eyes gazing into hers.[/b]

Snow's facade faltered slightly at his comment about her royal status. Wasn't he used to it, being a prince himself? She'd taken her status for granted somewhat, being so used to it. "I suppose it is," she answered slowly, watching him speculatively. She wondered where he was going with such an observance. Or, she thought darkly, he was going to brag about their status compared to others in the land. Her mother had taught her long ago that all should be treated equal and she would not stand for him bringing down others in her presence.
Snow set down her wine glass as he asked if they could go elsewhere. She cast a quick look over at her father who was in discussion with King George, Regina trying her best to hide a scowl beside him. She briefly nodded at James' question, her eyes meeting his. She blinked once or twice, startled by how clear his eyes were. It was a nice quality, if she had to admit it.
"We can walk through the gardens," she suggested, nodding toward the open veranda door.

David looked at her as she stared back at him and he smiled. She had amazing eyes and he was smiling more and more at the sight of them. He followed her towards the garden and then looked at her as they walked. " My kingdom beleives my behavior to be that of a womanizer." He looked at her and then down at the ground and sighed and then looked back up at her. " The truth about me. Is that isn't who i am. Not one bit" Walking more in he looked at her and considered telling her the truth about him and who he was.
The Truth was he was a sheppard and though king george forbid it and taught him how to be his brother the truth was he wasnt his brother and he never was going to be his brother. As he looked at her he sighed. " I assume you have heard of the wizard Rumplstilskin?' He said taking a breath before he continued. " When my mother had me. I wasn't alone. I had a twin named James. the King needed a heir to his throne and he made a deal with the wizard and he came and took james to be George's son. A few Weeks ago he was killed and the kingdom was in Debt so they approched me to slay a dragon after which George took me in as his own. Under the facade that i pretend to be James."
He looked at her having no idea what she must be feeling. He looked down for a minute and then back at her. " My name is David"

Snow paused beside a rose bush, her fingertips drifting over the velvet soft petals. Her mother had taken particular pleasure in ensuring that the royal gardens were adequately stocked and kept healthy. She looked up from the array of flowers at his explanation. "What?" she questioned, brow furrowing. For a moment she though he was perhaps making fun of her by inventing a tale. Yet he seemed genuine. Everything that she heard of James seemed to be absent in this young man.
"If what you say is true....." She shook her head, trying to comprehend the switch. "You're not James, then?" she asked, not wanting him to tease her. "You aren't mocking me?" She would be horrified with herself if she allowed him to play her as such. She frowned softly.

David looked at her a she seemed confused of the explanation he had given and sighed for a moment King George would kill him if he knew that he had told Snow the truth but David didnt want to live a lie. David shook his head when she said he wasnt james and he looked into her eyes "I would never mock you. What i tell you is the truth. I am not my brother" He watched her for a moment before turning and looking at the flowers, Then turning back he thought of his mother and the threat the king had made on his life.
"I felt you deserved to know the truth. If it ruins the kings plans its a chance im willing to take." He looked at her and smiled for a moment before continuing " Have you ever felt out of place in this life?" David sure has though he had learned alot about becoming a heroic Prince. David still felt like he was falling short and knew deep down this wasnt the life he had wanted.

Snow considered his confession. He seemed too genuine, too truthful to construct such a lie. She caught her bottom lip between her teeth, worrying the skin as she considered his admittance. "David," she tried the name, looking over at him. She felt rather conflicted. If her father realized that this was not James, would he call off the wedding? It was mutually beneficial to both kingdoms; she didn't think he would.
She was a little surprised at his question, though not nearly as much as she'd been by his explanation of the truth. "I-" The princess paused, thinking over the question. "I feel confined, sometimes," she admitted with an unladylike shrug. "I'm rarely alone. I can't go into town when I want as one of my maids can. It can be stifling at times."

David didn't know how she would take the news he heard her say his name and looked at her though she looked to be just trying it out. He smirked and then looked at her again. Thinking of what he could possibly say he couldnt think of anything. He watched her and thought. The cost was too great King George would surely have David killed for spilling this. But David couldnt lie to Snow she had to know what she was getting with this arrangement.
He listened to her response to the question and looked out the window. " that's how i feel. When i was a sheppard i wasn't confined i could go where i wanted and do what i wished." He shook his head and looked out he missed those days though he knew that what he was doing here was the right thing to do. Or was it? Was living this life was it what he wanted what his mother wanted for him. As he looked out the window he scanned for an exit then looked to snow. " We should get back. I'm sure King George is looking for us"

Snow figured he was right in assuming that they should return. She didn't want her father thinking that she was allowing this prince to take liberties with her. She pondered the man, finding that he was far different than she could have imagined. That he was masquerading as his twin made him strangely interesting to her. "We should go back," she nodded.
"You were a shepherd?" she inquired, having caught the fact during his explanation. "Do you wish to return to your old life?" She would be upset if she was transplanted into another life. She wondered if he had any family remaining on his farm.

David looked to her and nodded then started back before hearing her question about him being a sheppard and laughed for a moment. " Are you disappointed to have to marry a sheppard boy?" He looked at her then shook his head " I made my choice to take this life in order to save my mother's King George has quite a wrath when he is upset. Besides it's not all bad " He looked at Snow Smiling for a moment. He looked down when he heard Kind George " James there you are" He heard as a hand landed down on his shoulder he looked at him and then Nodded " Yes Fatehr I'm here"
He looked back at Snow and simply offered a answer by shaking his head tat this was his life now and even if he wished to return to what he once knew that life was gone for him and he had to do what was best for the kingdom

Snow blushed at his question as she shook her head. "No," she admitted, not embarrassed over marrying a former shepherd. The redness upon her cheeks was merely from his blunt question. The prince was perplexing though she found herself drawn into him. It would be interesting to learn who he truly was and how he managed to live as his twin brother.
She smiled as her father offered her his arm, neglecting his wife to guide his daughter. "Dinner is served in the dining room," Leopold spoke to his guests, one hand resting upon his daughter's arm currently entwined in his own. "If you would care to follow me." He smiled at his guests before leading the way, his wife sullenly following the pair.
