.:Personality:.
Jack is a kind, considerate, and compassionate toward others. Sometimes he has a tendency to get ideas that aren't so great, but he means well.. even if they're a little on the drastic side. No matter what, he always means well and never tries to put anyone in harm's way.
He can't help taking responsibility, and feeling guilty for everything his father had done, so he's always trying to make it up to the people of his kingdom. .:History:.
Jack's life was always a bit different than the other Princes he had known of. For starters, his Kingdom was known for trading of strange things such as squash, pumpkins, and herbs that grew in only autumn months. King Ogrin Bogart was known as the Pumpkin King because the pumpkins were the main export. His father was always a cruel man, who treated others like they were beneath him. Jack never received his father's love, nor did he want it. His mother died in child brith, so perhaps that was one of the reasons the King always mistreated him.. not that the King ever loved his wife in the first place.. she, like everything else, was merely a possession.
Jack spent a lot of time with the people of the kingdom, and he was quite loved by everyone in the town. Yet another reason his father seemed to dislike him, as everyone in town - aside from a few select people that cooed over the King for what ever reason - hated the King. Jack had noticed that his father grew more and more bitter, and cruel each day. For awhile, he had developed a gambling habit with some of the townspeople, and when he lost, he'd have their heads. Jack reached the point where he couldn't handle watching his father's tyranny, so he set out on a quest to find some way to stop him. Maybe find some sort of cure to make him less evil toward the people in his Kingdom.
While he was gone, something happened. The King went on a tirade, and he burned down a neighboring village. By the time Jack had returned, it was too late.. everyone was dead. He tried to find life in the village, but there wasn't a single man, woman, nor child, who had survived the attack. When he got back to Hallowton, things were different. Everything seemed to be growing darker. It didn't happen all at once, but day by day, the night sky became blacker, and the moon shone brighter..and in the day light, clouds covered the sun. Everyone in the Kingdom would turn in to monsters by the light of the moon, and would only become human again once inside.
The King died...eaten from the inside out by insects. Jack, who was now King, managed to calm everyone down, only by putting up barriers keeping everyone from leaving, and entering. Since everyone in the Kingdom loved Jack, they found it easier to trust him. In the darkness, he'd find himself turning in to a skeleton.. it was quite fitting, for his last name. And because the autumn crops continued to flourish, he too, became the Pumpkin King.
When the curse swept through, and Jack arrived in Storybrooke, he was relieved. For twenty-eight years, he didn't turn in to a skeleton... and he wouldn't again, until he was back in the Enchanted Forest.
