.:Name:. Killian Jones
.:Nick Name:. Hook, Captain, Captain Guyliner
.:Affiliation:. Debatable; he starts off as a being only loyal to himself, but eventually becomes loyal to the 'good guys'.| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Killian stands tall at a little over six feet, with a muscular build yet not overly so. He has good form and good posture, both needed when engaging in swordly combat. He dresses mostly in black, with high collars and cuffed sleeves; expected of a pirate. His eyes are always outlined with a dark charcoal type liner and the contrast between the darkness of the liner and blueness of his eyes makes his gaze almost piercing. He has dark features, and tanned skin from all the time he spends outdoors, as the sea is his life. He dresses in the riches he steals, always having large rings on his fingers and a thick silver chain around his low necked shirt. All together, he has a fairly well put together appearance. He looks nothing like a grungy and dirty pirate, but rather... a bit more refined. He has started to dress in modern clothing, often consisting of a leather jacket but still darkly colored. He has an aura around him, filled with charm and charisma yet mixed with menace. To aid with the latter, his left hand had been chopped off and in its place, he has positioned a hook that he only takes off when going to sleep. He has a tattoo that says Milah on his forearm to represent the first woman he loved. He also has an earring in one ear, and somewhat shortly cropped hair.
.:Height:. 6"1'
.:Portrayed by:. Colin O'Donoghue| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Hook has a fierce reputation, known as a dangerous and fearsome Captain. Having gone by Captain Jones, his reputation now spreads as the cruel and less than merciful Captain Hook. Killian, is a tormentor. He enjoys bullying others both verbally and physically. He is confident to the point of being highly cocky and arrogant, which only enables his mocking and ridicule towards others. He is not above name calling or putting people in their place for the sheer purpose of entertainment. He has a strong sense of humor, however probably one only understood by his shipmates.
He is of a dark nature, and takes great pride in his role as captain, and all he has achieved in this position. Whether it be his encounters with women, or all the gold and riches he has looted. With that said, he does enjoy the company of women and will often find himself in such company when he and his crew break on land, and find the nearest tavern. He is a man of great charm and charisma, possessing a strong presence about him. A great deal of his charm is revealed through his story telling. Having explored the world, he has a great deal of knowledge and can keep a crowd interested by the stories he has to share.
He has a skewed sense of honor, referring to himself as a man with a code of honor, however is not above killing needlessly should someone dare challenge him to such a fight. He is a determined and vindictive man, never one to back down from his purpose. Despite his rank as pirate, he speaks with eloquence and intelligence, which shows that he has a higher education than one would assume from that of a common pirate. He also tends to have a crude and sarcastic sense of humor, making inappropriate comments at inappropriate time and enjoys making innuendos if only to see how another will react to them.
He knows how to push a person's button and is rather good at provoking other. With that said, he himself is hardly ever intimidated, even in the face of death. He enjoys a good challenge, and can be quite cunning, manipulative, is resourceful, and has an excellent memory. He will never admit fear nor defeat, and never backs away from a fight or challenge. He is not trustworthy and can be quite deceitful at times. But then again, he is a pirate after all so one can not expect much else.
While Hook is a fearsome pirate, Killian is a complex man who's true nature began to reveal itself upon his meeting of Emma. He begins to show loyalty, and prove himself to at least be somewhat trustworthy. His vulnerability is exposed and he makes no secret of his love for her. He has become less menacing, and more of a gentleman. Within him, he always had a strong honor and it becomes more apparent when he is around those whom he opens himself up to. He is willing to make any sacrifice necessary and has displayed less selfish tendencies, admitting that he is a romantic at heart but only when he has found a woman to fill it.
.:Strengths:. Is an excellent swordsman, displaying strong skill in combat. He has a great deal of experience, and thus knowledge and this has made him highly resourceful. He also has a strong reputation and certainly does live up to it. He is very charming and charismatic, which can either benefit his friends or condemn his enemies. He is also very determined and once his mind is set to something, it is nearly impossible for anyone to alter it. He has a very good memory and is quite resourceful and even considerate . . . at times. He is a skilled and well known pirate, and with that entails many traits and capabilities (i.e. navigating). He has strong leadership, is able to man a ship, has successfully looted other places, faced many foes of different kinds, and the list goes on and on. His skills as a Captain are exceptional, even managing to outrun a curse. He also has a musical talent, able to sing quite well but this is not something he overly exposes.
.:Weaknesses:. Having lost the woman he first loved, he knows what heartache feels like and he believed for a long time that he would feel nothing else. A part of him will always mourn for her, as well as crave revenge for the man who ended her life. He is practically obsessed with finding her killer and claiming his vengeance . . . to the point of traveling first to Neverland, and then to Storybrooke to find him. He is also helpless against powerful magic, as he possesses no such power of his own. Another weakness is that his left hand has been cut off, and while replaced with a weapon, his missing hand can still prove to be a hinderence. Hook's softer side can be regarded as a weakness, for he is capable of love and once he deeply cares for someone, is willing to make the necessary sacrifice for them which can sometimes lead to irrational behavior and the withholding of important information.| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Unknown
.:Family:. Brother [deceased] | Mother [unknown] | Father [unknown]
.:Occupation:. Pirate Captain
.:History:. Killian claims that he was a man born with an instant love for the sea and his past is clear reflection of this. For some time, he sailed the seas as Leftenant with his brother as Captain. The two of them shared in many adventures and enjoyed the sea life. They worked for their king on one of the most well known ships, and one particular mission would alter their lives forever. They were entrusted by the king to go to the realm of Neverland and retrieve what they were told was a medicinal herb. However it turned out to be a poison meant to wipe out his enemies. This discovery cost Killian the life of his brother. Feeling betrayed and enraged by the king's deceit, he decided to rebel. He became a pirate and convinced the crew to join him, taking what they wished and answering to no one for the kingdom was already filled with so much corruption.
It did not take long before he built a reputation for himself and for his ship, the Jolly Roger. He enjoyed this life, and of course the spoils associated with it: women, gold, riches and all else that a pirate could take for himself. Such is the life that Killian has lived and he continues to enjoy every moment of it. He has no sense of higher purpose, for loves the freedom he possesses . . . never having any particular place to go, or certain someone to see, or even someone to answer to. He has traveled all around the lands, giving him vast amounts of both knowledge and experience. Throughout these journeys he has lived up to his status of a pirate, and even gained a very strong reputation for himself, leaving his mark everywhere he went.
One particular journey once again, changed his life. Breaking from their journey at sea, Killian went to the nearest tavern on land, not a rare occurrence for him for the rarity lay in who he met. Always enjoying attention and the telling of stories, he shared his adventures with others at the tavern and had captured the interest of one particular woman. All that Killian noticed of her was her beauty -- for she was not the first woman who he had gained the interest of. But after talking to her, he found another quality in her that caused him great intrigue: it was her thirst and desperate craving for adventure. The need to see the world, as she seemed genuinely impressed with his tales. He decided then and there to invite her on his ship, so that she could be a part of their adventures and experience it first hand.
Much to his pleasure, she did indeed come, leaving her husband and son behind. While her husband attempted to bring her back. Killian offered to fight a duel yet in the end, humiliated him and sent him on his way as they departed from land and returned to their travels. Little did Killian know that he would be embarking on an entirely new and unfamiliar adventure: the journey of love. The more time he spent with Milah, the more drawn he felt to her. And it was not long until he realized that he too returned the love she claimed to have had for him at the tavern on the day they met. Having her with him, made each journey all the more thrilling and exciting . . . for now, he had someone to share that with.
Unfortunately, their happiness was not made to last. For upon returning to the tavern that he frequents, he encountered the man that he had mocked so long ago, only to discover that he was the dark one. He told Milah's former husband that she was dead, in the hopes to protect her but it seemed that she would be the one protecting him, for she came just before Rumplestiltskin ripped Killian's heart from his chest. A deal was struck, and the next day, Rumplestiltskin joined them on deck. Devastation followed when Milah's life was taken from her as Killian helplessly watched, and held her as she took her last breath. The unfamiliairity of such pain overwhelmed him, and this was recognized by Rumplestiltskin as he told him he would let him live, so that he would suffer.
Killian did not intend to hide away from the world and mourn. Not when Milah was taken from him, not even after his hand was parted from him. Instead, he vowed to get his revenge. To bring justice to Milah. To give her murderer what he deserved: death. And so, the man who never before had a purpose in life, had a strong one now. He traveled to a special realm where he would not age so that time would not be against him as he plotting the demise of Rumplestiltskin. Returning when the curse inflicted the land, Killian -- or now better known as hook -- has plans of going to where Rumplestiltskin, so that he can claim his vengeance.
This is where his adventure continues and alters in the most unexpected of ways. From entering other realms, to finding the second love of his life . . . Killian's life will never be what it once was and he accepts every challenge, fights every obstacle, and embraces an opportunity that he is given.| ~ • ~ | Sample Post | ~ • ~ |
It's Always Nice
TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION
Killian's hand skimmed over the ship's wheel, feeling the familiar texture of the wood under his touch. This ship is his life . . . was his life. They had been through so much together: traveling throughout different realms, conquering their enemies, changing crews . . . so many wonderful experiences and Hook remembered each one perfectly. An ever so slight smile played on his lips, though it was far from jovial as his mind recollected all the memories he and the Jolly Roger had made together. Good. Bad. Heartbreaking. Incredible. A mix of emotions swelled his heart for he knew in saying goodbye to this ship, he was losing a huge part of himself. But it was worth it. It was so worth it. For her. "I'm going to miss you, love." He was not above talking to his ship, because to him . . . she had been everything. A ship that once symbolized loyalty to the king, then symbolized piracy and now, symbolized a massive sacrifice that he had no choice but to make. He would not regret it, and that was what made this so much harder.
"Thank you for everything you had given me. For the life you gave me." His hands moved along the wheel, looking forward as he did so many times when steering the ship. A position he would never be in again, not on the Jolly Roger anyway. Hell, he did not even know if he was coming back to this world or staying there. Thinking on it now, he had more of a reason to stay in her world rather than his. Besides, its not that he was doing this for everyone else . . . he was doing it mainly for her. "But alas, all good things must come to their inevitable end. I only hope you receive your happy ending." That whomever hands she was placed in, they would not abuse her. He leaned forward, his lips lightly kissing the wheel in a final goodbye. "As I hope to find mine," he added in a whispered voice, a continuation of his words. For he knew that the only way to reach some semblance of happiness in the absence of his ship, was if he was the woman he had fallen in love with. The one he was leaving his ship for, and exchanging it for. Taking a deep breath, he began to walk away from the ship, not looking back for it was far too painful. It was time for a new adventure. It was time to be a hero. For her. For the woman he loved. For Emma Swan.
