Lesson 1: Don't Sneak Up on a man that has a Hook
Katalina had been sleeping in the cold for a while, but that wasn't all that she was doing. She had also spent her time following Killian around and hiding whenever he turned her way. She knew he probably thought that she was dead since for sure his crew would have told him that she was thrown overboard when Blackbeard had hold of the Jolly Rogers.
Except she hadn't been thrown by Blackbeard. One of Killian's own men had done it, and it worried her. She didn't care what happened to her, but she knew if whoever it was that tossed her could simply do that, then he could turn on Killian at any point and time.
So that was why Kat followed him around; he didn't know she was back. She didn't even really know where they were but when she spotted him the first time, he seemed to know where they were, and he had been accompanied by a tall blonde. She would wait until he was alone before revealing that she was still alive. She had no idea who all the people were that he was acquainting himself with, and she didn't want to be killed trying to warn him.

fortune it seems HAS SEEN FIT TO SHOW US FAVOR Things were going relatively well for the pirate. Storybrooke would of course have some sort of crisis or another, however they often were victorious and he doubted that this particular instance would be any exception. Besides, he was feeling rather optimistic with things, and it was all because of a certain someone. He had been spending quite some time in her company, now that she had accepted him into her life as more than just some random pirate, and more than just a friend. In fact, he was just leaving her place now . . . well, hers, Henry's, Snows, and David's. Which certainly hindered any alone time he could have with her but it mattered not. One step at a time.
It was night and he was making his way back to the Granny's Bed and Breakfast. It was where he had been residing for the most part, since quite a few of them didn't exactly have the pleasure of a permanent residence. If he had found a way to bring his ship back, then he could have easily lived on that. Sometimes he slept on the bench at the docks to help him feel close to the water. How he missed that. Deciding half way to changed his destination, he made his way to the docks rather than the bed and breakfast. Perhaps he would just spend some time here; the sight, the scent . . . it was all such a strong comfort to the pirate and he'd be lying if he said he didn't miss it. Yet his reason for staying here definitely outweighed his longing for the water.
Arriving at his new destination, he seated himself on the bench and just stared out into the vast water. The moon added a certain beauty to the sight, and he just took it all in. It was so peaceful. So serene. So -- his head abruptly turned behind him as he could have sworn he heard footsteps. The night air was so silent, and well, Killian was sensitive to sounds . . . especially when he felt someone was following him. He rose to his feet, turning around. "Who's there?" He questioned, his voice strong with authority which came with his high ranking position as a pirate. "Show yourself, you coward," he further demanded. Yes. This person was a coward for skulking around in the late hour without revealing themselves. And now, Hook was ready for them.

Katalina worried that she was never going to get Killian alone at the rate things were going, but finally she got a breakthrough. He was on his way to somewhere after visiting with a blonde, a teen, a black-haired pale beauty and a handsome Prince-looking man. Seriously, how did the black-haired woman get her skin to look like that?! When she had peered in the window, she swore one of them looked her way so she had ducked down quickly, ignoring the pain in her recovering hip.
But that was before. Now, Katalina watched and waited for Killian to go somewhere that wasn't so public. If she revealed herself now, then everyone could see her, and her whole plan of figuring out who tossed her like dead fish was out the window just the same. So she had to continue watching him, keeping silent the entire time. If she could sneak on his ship multiple times and not get noticed until she wanted to be, then she could sneak up on the pirate captain. She was dying to talk to him again, feeling even more lonely now than she had been in quite some time. The last time she felt this lonely was when she had been unwanted on Killian's ship.
Shaking out of her own thoughts, Katalina noticed that he had led her to the dock. Oh, how ironic. She smirked to herself when he turned around, having switched to the other side just in the nick of time. Now she stood behind him, and she crossed her arms.
"It's not so much cowardice as it is careful planning."

fortune it seems HAS SEEN FIT TO SHOW US FAVOR Killian saw nothing in response, but soon enough, he heard a voice behind him. An all too familiar voice. He paused for a moment, before slowly turning around and there before him, he saw a vision that he had otherwise assumed to be impossible. Then again, if there was one thing he learned recently . . . it was that nothing was impossible. "Kitten?" He questioned, using the nickname he often used for her. He had heard from some of his crew that she was dead; that she had not survived Blackbeard's overtaking of the ship.
However the surprise was not only limited to her being alive, but also her being here, in Storybrooke. Not many of his crew had made it back -- Smee most certainly had -- so to see her here, alive, and looking well . . . it took him a few moments for the shock to subside. "You're . . . alive," he both stated and questioned, his mind catching up to what he saw before him. "I had heard the worst," he added, wondering how she had not only survived, but made it here. It wasn't that he wasn't happy to see her . . . it was just, well, he was still rather surprised by her presence. "It's good to see you lass," he added in a low, but sincere voice, not wanting her to have any doubts about the relief he felt upon seeing her alive and seemingly well.

Katalina was bracing herself to be at the end of Killian's hook, but it never happened. No, it seemed he recognized exactly who it was behind him. So the crew must have told him that she didn't survive. That was fine with her, that made this surprise that much more eventful. He used the nickname that only he could get away with, and she smiled. "The one and only."
Katalina watched him turn around to face her, and she smiled a little more. "Well, you already know that I'm hard to get rid of. So yes, I'm alive." It was a miracle that she was, really, but she didn't comment on that thought just yet.
It also didn't surprise Katalina that he had feared the worst. Especially if he'd been told that she didn't survive. "Yeah, well, getting tossed overboard by someone you thought you knew isn't exactly easy to survive."
Katalina knew that Killian was happy to see her, but it still warmed her when he told her that it was good to see her. "It's always good to see you, Captain."

fortune it seems HAS SEEN FIT TO SHOW US FAVOR Katalina responded to his words of acknowledgment, and then went on to say that he was well aware of how difficult she was to get rid of. "Aye," he agreed with a slight smile. "Fortunately, seemed to work in your favor this time," he told her, glad to see that she was alright and appeared to be in good spirits as well. She then added a sarcastic remark about having gotten tossed overboard made it difficult to survive.
"Traitors are common among pirates," he began to tell her. Traitors, mutiny, challenges to authority . . . he would be lying if he said it never happened. "Though I never thought we would have that problem among our crew." Or well, former crew, since they were all dispersed now. He didn't even have his ship anymore. She added that it was good to see him as well, and he continued to give a bit of a smile at that. "What have you been doing here all this time?" He asked, realizing that if she had been here when the curse struck again . . . that she would have been here for quite some time. Since he had gone to New York to retrieve Emma.

Katalina chuckled when Killian mentioned it working in her favor and she nodded as well. "Doesn't it for me every time? It was everyone else it was unfortunate for." With that one, she grinned, recalling how many times he had tried to ditch her and she managed to get on before the bar scene where she opened up to him.
Honestly, Kat had been surprised to be thrown overboard by someone who used to follow Killian, and she knew it had to be because all of Blackbeard's original crew men were within sight. And she certainly wasn't lying, and she was grateful Killian didn't just call her a liar. "I quite agree."
Then Killian asked what she had been doing, and Katalina smiled slyly. "Well, as far as anyone else knows, I'm still dead. I've been sleeping in a box, or here on the docks, and well," she had to admit, "I've been following you for a while so I could talk to you alone but a lot of the time you're accompanied with a pretty blonde woman. Which, I might add, I am happy that you found someone."
Katalina glanced around. "I've also been trying to find out where the devil we're at. I've never been here before."

fortune it seems HAS SEEN FIT TO SHOW US FAVOR Killian listened as she explained that most others thought she was dead, and that she had been sleeping in a box or on the docks. "There's a bed and breakfast not far from here. It's where I'm staying. I'm sure there is an extra room there." Granny had been rather accommodating to all those who came to Storybrooke. It was at least a better alternative to sleeping outside. She then admitted that she had been following him for quite some time, noticing that he had been in Emma's company and even expressing her happiness for him having found someone. Their relationship certainly hadn't been easy, but it was more than worth it.
"You could have approached me, lass. Even if I was with another." He wouldn't have rejected the company of a friend. He didn't exactly have a great deal many in this town. There were more so people he interacted with while helping Emma. He also knew that now wasn't the time to get into explaining who Emma was; and the complexities of everything. Especially when she spoke of trying to figure out where she was. An amused smile formed on his lips, having had the same confusion . . . though he had initially come with Cora so had been a bit more informed and prepared for their destination.
"It's called Storybrooke," he began to explain. "It's supposedly a land without magic, but this town has it's fair share of it." Emma, Regina, Rumple . . . magic wasn't exactly far gone here. "It's a long story, Kitten. Why don't we go somewhere we can sit and talk." Instead of standing out here where the air was growing cooler. "Have you eaten?" He inquired.

Katalina knew the air was getting colder the longer they stayed outside but she herself didn't know where they could go to continue this conversation. Then he mentioned something about a bed and breakfast, and her eyebrows knotted together, trying to remember the last time she was ever at one. "Good to know they exist in this town."
Killian told Katalina that she could have approached him even if he were with another, and she smiled a bit, appreciative of that. "I didn't want to ruin you two's moment together, especially if it's a date." She smiled again, more sardonically this time. "Plus, I don't know if she's a shoot-first-ask-questions-later type of girl."
Storybrooke, hm? Katalina thought whoever made this town could not have come up with a stranger name. She shook her head, a small laugh escaping her lips. Although the fact that there were people that had magic here did alarm her to a point, but she wasn't afraid either. Killian made it through here, so why couldn't she? When the captain said that it was a long story, Kat definitely grew curious. Then he mentioned food, and as if it were on a clock, her stomach grumbled, and she chuckled. "Not for a while. I'm game for that."

fortune it seems HAS SEEN FIT TO SHOW US FAVOR Killian listened to her as she spoke of not wanting to interrupt a date. A date. Now there was a foreign concept . . . well, a date in the traditional sense. For all their supposed dates were interrupted one way or another. Either by some pending threat, an evil villain threatening the kingdom, a massive curse, or her family in need of her. Ah yes. Emma Swan was a busy woman. "Trust me, love. Interruptions are far from rare. This town always seems to have something or another going on that demands the attention of the Sheriff." It was easier and quicker to explain Emma's role as that, rather than refer to her as the Savior.
"Besides, she wouldn't have shot you," he added confidently. "Not when you hardly pose as a threat." Approaching him would not have warranted Emma to react so violently. She was an extremely level headed person of course. Besides, Killian would have recognized Katalina immediately . . . they had after all spent a significant amount of time together. She then answered his question by saying she hadn't eaten for a while and that she was willing to now. He gave a slight smile and nod as he began to walk alongside her in the direction of Granny's Diner. "The food here is quite different than what we are accustomed to. But it's good," he assured her.

Uptown Funk You Up
If you sexy, then flaunt it; if you freaky, then own it. Don't brag about it, come show me. If you sexy then flaunt it, don't believe me just watch
| Katalina Watson was aware that she could have walked up to Killian and he would have recognized her from the very beginning. Yes, they had spent many days and nights aboard the same ship, him being captain, and her being a stowaway-turned-crewmate. But still, she knew he must have appreciated the fact that she had allowed him space to enjoy moments with the blonde--sherriff?
Honestly, Kat didn't peg Killian for the type that was into women of the law. Pirates often ran from the law; but she wasn't about to question it. "Maybe it's not rare, but I wanted you to enjoy your time. I knew I'd get to you eventually." She smiled up at him.
"Ah, yes, maybe. But you know her. I do not. How was I supposed to know what she would or wouldn't do? I can't read minds, you know." Katalina had to tease.
When Killian mentioned the food being different from what they were used to, Katalina shrugged. She really didn't care about what type of food right then. She was simply starving. "Trust me, I'm so hungry I could probably eat a whole whale by now." She followed him to the diner, and when they went inside, she cast a glance around, curiously. She then went to a seat and sat, bouncing a little. She giggled. "The seats feel funny."

fortune it seems HAS SEEN FIT TO SHOW US FAVOR She spoke of how she had wanted him to enjoy his time, confident that she would have gotten to him at some point. He simply gave a nod at that, suddenly wondering if there were any others from his crew that were also lurking about. As he no longer had his ship, he was unsure as to where his men were. "Then you should have entrusted me in that I wouldn't have let a friend shoot you," he teased in return. Guns were funny things of this world. He preferred a sword but apparently, such weapons were outdated in this land.
As they reached the diner, he opened the door for her to enter before he followed, giving a nod of greeting to Granny and Ruby. When Katalina sat down, she commented that the seats were funny and Hook gave a smile as he seated himself next to her. "Trust me love, there is much here that can be described as funny." Once they were handed the menus, Killian immediately ordered a beer, deciding that tonight there was a little celebration in order. "Order what you wish, Kitten," he told her, his mind briefly recalling his first experience in Granny's Diner and the food that it entailed.

| Katalina was not sure where it was that they were going, but she followed silently as she kept looking around, curious about this world even still. "First, off, Cap'n, I do trust you, but those things could be fast. I don't know. And secondly, I'm thinking with her it's safe to say it's more than just friends." She chuckled a bit, letting him know she was simply teasing him again. After all, that was what she did best, teasing.
Being informed that there were a lot of things in this world that could be described as funny intrigued Kat. It really did. This was nothing like their world when they were out at sea. She settled back in her seat and picked up the menu. When Killian ordered a beer, she simply murmured, "I'll have the same." She was mostly distracted by the names of food on the menu.
"Deviled Eggs? Did they meet the devil or something?" Katalina had no idea what to order and she scratched her head. "Okay, I so don't know what I want to order. Help?" She giggled slightly.
