Being hurt in the past, Neal has a habit of running away from the his past, but it usually tends to be to danger that he runs.

Born as the son of Rumplestiltskin, and Milah Baelfire grew up a good life with the two until one day Rumplestiltskin comes home to see Milah gone and he takes his young son to go find his mother. On the search of looking for his mother, and the two stop at a bar. Having to wait outside, while his father goes to fetch his mother from drinking with a 'Captain Hook'. But Baelfire does not listen, and he goes in to see his mother that way, and is scolded for not listening to his fathers orders. After his mother left, Baelfire spends all his time with his father that day until the next day when Baelfire wakes to see his mother missing, having been taken by Hook. His father lies to him, and assures Bae that his mother is dead. At the age of 13, Baelfire is about to be thrown in the 'ogre wars.' As he is too young his father tries to flee with Baelfire until they are caught. Since that point life crumbles into pieces around Bae, and he is brought to London. A place without magic.One fateful night though, Baelfire is taken by a shadow to neverland, But he scares the shadow away with fire, and is dropped into an ocean, where he is pulled aboard a ship by none other than Captain Hook himself. Hook refused to hand the boy over and the two started a friendship and spends his time in Neverland again. But, having seen the shadow one day Baelfire captures it and takes way to New York, where his life as a thief about to start when he was seventeen, starting with a yellow BMW, in which he tries to steal at the same time as Emma Swan. Both become friends, and things start getting intimate, leaving Emma pregnant with his son Henry.

Neal ran for dear life. The police were after him, once again. Which was to be expected really, from a thief none-the-less. Police began to recognize crimes committed by this man. They knew his style, and Neal wasn't smart about his robberies either, he used to make faces at cameras should he see one. After quickly escaping police surrounding him, Neal found a car. It was quite cool having noticed he could escape.
Feeling slightly tired, Neal looked for a place to call home for the night, and Neal caught sight of a car. A yellow BMW, and Neal decided it would be a good sleeping location. Not only for sleeping, but maybe to take and get out of town. "Oh well. Forget it" Neal shrugged and he snuck into the car, climbing into the back to call it a night.
