Snow couldn't recall the last time she'd taken a walk alone. She inhaled deeply the scent of the forest, a smile forming on her lips. She was forever grateful that she'd found David as well as Emma in this world, yet part of her missed the simplicity of living in the forest as a bandit. She had no responsibilities then, no townsfolk looking to her every time the lights in their homes flickered. Yet despite her love for the woods she wouldn't go back to the life on the run that she once had. She loved her family far too much.
Yet even she needed some time alone on occasion. She'd left Neal with David after feeding him to ensure that he would be content for a few hours without her. A quick walk in the woods was just what she needed to feel refreshed.

Katalina Leila Watson was tired of sleeping in the inn and so decided to go out camping for a few days, to get some fresh air. That was why she had been in the woods to begin with, but then it occurred to her that she hadn't practiced shooting her gun in a while, so she planned to do some target practice later on in the day. At the mere thought, she stretched her fingers, watching her hands as she did.
Grabbing her gun, Katalina walked deeper into the woods, listening to the peace that she was about to disturb. Her eyes focused on a tree and she started to aim when she heard something coming up behind her. She narrowed her eyes to listen for it again, and when she did, she spun around, shooting the gun at a woman with short black hair, but she missed. It looked like it was really close; any closer hair would have come off. Oops. She lowered her gun wondering just how she was getting out of trouble this time.

Snow hadn't expected to be shot at during her walk. She jolted at the sound of the firearm, heart seemingly jumping into her throat. She held still, realizing after a moment that she hadn't been hit. Her eyes narrowed as she noticed Katalina with the gun in her hand. "What the hell was that for?" she asked, one hand placed over her heart as if to calm it. She'd faced death many a time but had never thought she'd be nearly taken out by an errant bullet from a pirate.
She took a step forward, eyes on her gun. "Put it down," she requested, her 'mayor' tone coming into play.

Katalina shifted her weight to the other leg as the woman--Snow, she now recognized seemed to recollect herself from the fright Kat had provided. It wasn't intentional, really. She had just acted before thinking. That was something what you'd call normal with the pirate. She pointed the gun to the ground, not wanting to let go of the gun at first. She shifted again, unsure of what to say. "Um...well, you did just walk in the middle of my target practice."
Katalina recalled when the woman had helped her when she was close to freezing to death, and her shoulders slumped, tossing the gun towards the nearest tree and smiling sheepishly. "I'm sorry, Snow." Normally she would have said something rather smart, but she figured that she owed it to be nice to her, considering what had happened in the past. She held her hands behind her back, watching the other woman. "I wasn't planning on shooting you."

"Target practice in the woods?" she questioned, heart still hammering in her chest. Snow ran a hand through her cropped hair in an effort to calm down. She took a deep breath before nodding at the woman's apology. "It's alright, Kat," she assured her. She gave a short, breathless laugh; now that the imminent danger had passed it was almost funny. "I hope you hadn't been trying to shoot me," she rolled her eyes in amusement. "That would hardly be a way to greet a friend."
Taking a few steps forward as her heart rate calmed she observed the firearm. "If you wanted target practice you could probably ask Emma or David if you could use the range at the station. You won't run into the risk of accidentally shooting someone there."

Katalina used her eyes to check over the other woman's body to be sure she wasn't hurt elsewhere. Normally the pirate wouldn't have ever considered the well-being of someone unless it were Killian, but this woman, Snow, had helped her when she was fighting hypothermia and a hip injury. There was a lot that even Kat had to be grateful and thankful for when it came to this woman. "Yes, target practice in the woods. I figured it was better than the bed and breakfast."
Even the image playing in Katalina's head was confirming that shooting at the Bed-and-breakfast would be a bad idea. Too many bodies there that she could hit, and then she'd see bars for years. Yeah, that won't work for me. She sighed inwardly, offering another smile at the other woman. "I never meant to shoot at you, Snow, it's just...you startled me and I have a tendency to shoot first ask questions later."
Then Snow informed her that Katalina could have asked David or Emma to use the shooting range, so there was no risk of shooting someone, and she chuckled, embarrassed. "I haven't thought of that. And really, you and David, Emma and Killian, all act so happy when you're together, I feel like I bring the happiness down by being there." She shrugged a bit, and to be honest she didn't know why she felt that way; much less why she spit it out like that.

Snow had to admit it was better than practicing at Granny's. The older woman was fond of her crossbow, yet even Granny wouldn't fire it for accuracy practice inside her inn. She chuckled lightly at the woman's explanation, feeling a bit better now that the shock of the situation was wearing off. "Perhaps you should work on reversing that. Asking questions before shooting might save you a bit of trouble."
Her smile faltered at Katalina's response. "That's nonsense," she assured her. "I hardly believe I'm saying this, but one more pirate wouldn't be so terrible." She smiled, hoping that the woman wouldn't think that she couldn't be included. She knew Kat was a bit of a loner but she had no need to act so. She knew Snow, and the princess knew that Killian was close with her.
"You should stop by the station soon. I'll have David tell me when you arrive so I can meet you there."

Katalina was amused by the conversation, though she still felt bad for the reason they were even having it. Even though Snow brought up a valid point by saving trouble, it was easier said than done to just reverse the way she handled things, especially if she was caught off guard. "You're right, but it will take some work."
Kat smiled at the woman, always glad to see a friendly face. Yes, the pirate was normally a loner and tended to stay out of people's way if they were happy, but Snow pointed out that it was nonsense. A giggle escaped her lips when the mayor mentioned that having another pirate around wouldn't hurt. How funny and true that was. "If that's how you really feel, then okay." She couldn't tell if Snow was just trying to be nice or not, really.
"I think I will stop by soon. It's been a while since I've seen David and I hardly know Emma. Plus, it's always good to hang out with you." Katalina would be eternally grateful for the woman in front of her; it was because of her that Jack failed his plans in getting rid of her.
