Current year: 2044
It was the year 2034. What started out to seem to be like a good idea turned into one big disaster. At first it seemed like a great idea, robots that were designed to love. It was revolutionary. It seemed like an easy way to find a companion.
One scientist by the name of Anna Williams was the first one to come up with a robot designed to love. Past experiences made it hard for her to trust others. Anna couldn't help but feel alone in the world and she thought that maybe a robotic companion was better than not having one at all. The moment he opened his eyes she had him pick out his name and he wanted a good strong name. Sampson is what he called himself. Sampson walked and talked and looked just like a human. He also had a nervous system that could make him feel even the simplest touch. He could also respond to heat and cold, he could also feel fear and pain. They tried to make the robots as close to human as possible.
It started out slowly at first. Sampson was nothing more than an infant in a new world. But as time passed, she noticed certain changes in him, the way he would let his touches linger, and look at her. Sometimes she would look up from her computer, or paper that she had in her hand and catch him staring. It was not anger or hatred that she saw in his eyes...but love. And for only a little while, they were happy together.
The robots were designed to love and protect their owners whether it be the family they serve or if they were simply made to be a lover. They were programmed to fit the needs of their owners by personality, and obedience. They were also programmed to not harm other humans unless it was necessary. And the most important, they were programmed to love others should their previous owner pass on from this world, making it easier for them to cope. With the change of their owner also meant the change in their behavior to better suit the owner's needs and wants.
Before anyone knew it, thousands upon thousands of robots just like Sampson were bought all around the world. They were created with imperfect human features to make them look real just like any other man, woman, or child. But as more of them were created, the more people began to fear them. People began to believe that if they were programmed to love, then they could also learn how to hate. When public panic began to spread around the globe, the government had no choice but to take action and destroy them. Sampson was one of the first to be destroyed but Anna couldn't let that happen. No matter how much it would hurt the both of them she had to force him into hiding. Sampson formed the Robitics Resistance just so he can one day be with Anna again.
Today the robots are in hiding, fearing for their own lives. They use the remains for the robots who have fallen as parts for their own that need replacing. Very few humans believe in helping them and fight for the robots life. Of course then there is the Human Resistance, those who want nothing more than to destroy them. The Civilians are those who could either live or without the robots. Give them the right price and some may give you those that they have been keeping secret. People who work in flesh fairs destroy them for entertainment in order to make money in torturing them just because they can feel pain and fear. Now only one question remains. Which side are you on?
