Tag: Baelfire Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Hook felt highly out of place here. Storybrooke had once been the place that contained the object of his vengeance -- though ironically he had gotten him in a strange place called New York. It then became a place where the woman he loved resided. And now . . . it was neither of those things. Hook had given up his mission to kill Rumple well before the man died. And Emma . . . well, there was a reason he was not pursuing her, and that reason was Baelfire. Or Neal, as those here most commonly referred to him as. He had returned from the dead, found and returned home. With his family. It was that reason alone that Hook had stepped back.
Henry deserved to be with his father, and Emma . . . well, she deserved to be with someone who could possibly be the love of her life. Hook hoped that Emma loved him, and perhaps she could . . . but Killian knew he would not put her in a position to choose. Her and Bae had a great history, as did Hook and Bae. He was the son of Milah, the first woman Hook had ever loved. And for that reason, he loved Bae as his own son. He wanted him to be happy as well. This could very well be one of the most selfless things Hook had done -- which would have been unsettling had he not loved all those involved, obviously in very different ways. But now there was nothing keeping him in Storybrooke; nothing except a dangerous hope that may lead to devastating disappointment. Many were still wary of him, and the only comfort he found was being on his ship, as a pirate.
He wished he could return to the realm he knew, but alas, it was not that simple. He was on his way to go to the docks and find the only place that could provide comfort: his ship. With him, he had a few bottles of alcohol that were concealed in a paper bag. He didn't care that it wasn't quite night yet; it was never too early to start drinking. As he crossed the street of the town, he caught notice of the very man he had just been thinking of. "Bae," he stated, knowing he shouldn't be surprised to see him. After all, Storybrooke wasn't that large. He had to admit that part of him was relieved that he was alone, that Hook wouldn't have to witness him with Emma -- another reason he wished to leave this place, for it would be far too painful to see them find happiness in each other. A happiness that he so desperately craved, but would not selfishly pursue.

You have no idea | | what I've lived with | Since coming back to this town, Neal had been unsure of his place here in this town. Yes, he had stayed for Henry, but, that re-visit to the island had made his lost boy feelings re-surface.
Yes, he had grabbed a hold of that Shadow to go back to that island and rescue Henry and help get Emma and everyone else off of that island, and back home, but, it didn't change the words that Felix had said to him when he first arrived back in Neverland. 'Welcome home'. Could that be why he still felt out of place here?
Neal knew that Hook had stepped aside to allow him to have another chance with Emma, letting him have his whole family. His son and the woman he loved, his son's mother. While he appreciated it, Neal knew that, if Emma did decide to go for Hook, he wouldn't mind. His history with both Emma and Hook was interesting. Neal had loved Emma, and still did. No matter what their relationship was. Hook had become like a father figure for Neal, even if it was only a short time and he had been using him. Neal had begun to feel closer to him then his own father by the end.
He had decided to give Emma some space for a while, and had decided to take a walk before heading back to his room at Granny's B&B. The cool breeze was nice as it blew on his face and in his hair, it reminded him of his childhood on Neverland.
As Neal left the Diner, he heard the call of someone familiar. Storybrooke was small, so this wasn't really a surprise to him. "Hook" Neal said, looking at him and adjusting the zipper and hood of his jacket.

Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Killian looked him over as he returned the basic greeting. He hated that there was tension between them and wondered if he still resented him for having handed him over to Pan. He seemed friendly enough when telling him that he would step back from Emma . . . but still. He wished things had happened differently; he wished Bae had stayed with him on the Jolly Roger. He supposed there was no point in lamenting the what ifs and what could have beens. If he dwelt too long on such things, he would go mad. That was where the alcohol came in; it was far easier to forget when one consumed copious amounts of it.
"Happy to be home in this oh so charming and quaint town?" Hook asked with a bit of a smirk, slight sarcasm on the descriptive words he used for Storybrooke. Charming and quaint indeed. He had once considered that this could be his home . . . but now, felt it was far too painful to stay. "Where are you off too?"" He asked, hoping he wouldn't regret the inquiry. If he responded that he was on his way to see Emma, well . . . Hook knew he would have to make this encounter extremely short, unable to bare hearing anything about the couple, though would always be happy for them should they be able to rekindle the love they once had for one another. He often thought of what it would have been like if Milah somehow returned. But these thoughts were far too dangerous to have. Hope was always too dangerous a feeling to possess.

xxx words notes: xx YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'VE LIVED WITH The tension between him and Hook was still there, Neal could tell. While, he didn't like it, it wasn't going to go away all that easily. Hook had just been another person who had lied to him and had used him to get what he wanted, before giving him away for selfish reasons. When they returned here to Storybrooke, Neal had tried to rid the tension from their relationship, since he had just helped save his son by travelling back to the island that both of them had hated. He wondered how things would've gone if he hadn't found that picture of his mother? Or if he had decided to stay with Hook after all? Feeding on the what-if's would probably only lead to more pain inside his head. The what-if's with his father had done the same thing. Maybe it would be a good idea to drink away his troubles this time. He'd been too young to really have that option while in the foster system, but, he wasn't now. And it could be just what he needed.
That word home made Neal raise his eyebrows, “I don't know. I mean, don't get me wrong I'm glad to be off of Neverland again, but, home is a strong word. That island felt more like home to me then this town. This world ever did.” Neal said, finally admitting it out loud. The truth was he was starting to think maybe this town could be home. But, he wasn't sure all that much. Hook's next question brought Neal out of his thoughts, “Oh nowhere really. I was just going to head back to my room at Granny's Bed and Breakfast.” Neal said, looking up at Hook. Neal was used to being alone for the most part, it had been what he'd had since he was 14 years old, but, he wouldn't say no to having company, if it was actually offered. Neal would've gone by Emma's apartment, but, he would give it a few days to recover from the island, before trying to ask her out on a date again. Hope was rare for this lost boy, but, he felt he may have it here in this town with Emma and Henry. Maybe, he had his chance at a family.

Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Hook listened as Neal spoke of how home was a strong word; how the island felt more like a home than this place. He couldn't imagine ever calling that cursed island home. He had gone to find out how to destroy the Dark One and had been trapped there for centuries. He hadn't been more ecstatic to get out of that bloody place . . . the irony remaining that he had once again ventured there with the Dark One himself. Funny how life worked out.
"They say that home is where the heart is," he began to say. "And if your heart is indeed here--" Which he assumed it to be with Emma and Henry. "That this place can indeed be your home. If only you fully embrace it." Hook knew full well the overwhelming feeling of being here. While he of course wished to be with Emma, he wasn;t going to come between a future with her and Neal if it was what they both wanted. He wished for both of them to be happy, and he wanted Henry to be happy as well. Whatever happened, surely was for the best. Hook supposed that in a way, Storybrooke had become his home -- considering where his own heart lay. But not as much as the Jolly Roger.
That seemed to be all he had left to call home; the one thing that would never disappoint him or cause him heartbreak. He was distracted from his thoughts -- a welcome thing -- when Neal spoke of how he was just going to head to his room at Granny's Inn. "Sounds thrilling," he said with a hint of sarcastic teasing as he gave him a smile. "I'm heading to my ship to bask in the company of a few bottles of drink. You're welcome to join me." He wouldn't pressure him to say yes. Despite how Bae may feel about him, Hook would always love, and wished that things had happened differently between them; he wished that he could have taken care of him as Milah would have wanted him to.

xxx words notes: xx YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'VE LIVED WITH Neal was finally admitting out loud that Neverland had felt like home for him, more then anywhere else in a long time. He hadn't really been in this town long enough for it to be considered home, at least when he compared it to the places he'd been the longest. New York, and that land where he was a lost boy for countless years. He had been glad to get out of there, and he owed a big part of that to Elsa's guards, since they were the ones that kidnapped him and dragged him away from that place. And yet he had still voluntarily gone with that Shadow to save his son and Emma. Funny how things worked out.
"Yeah, I've heard that." Neal said, knowing that his heart was here with Henry and Emma, but, as for the home part, he wasn't quite certain of that yet. "I think that's what scares me the most, the fact that I finally have a real chance at home." Neal found this whole situation overwhelming, the idea of finally being able to settle down somewhere. He knew that he had family close by, with Henry, and he was working on his relationship with Emma again. He even felt things starting to be fixed with his papa. For once he had a whole family, and people to come home to, and it was making him feel more things then he'd felt in years. Neal had sacrificed himself for his family, to make sure he didn't have to grow up like both he and Emma, and, now he had them back and he wasn't quite sure how to handle it.
Neal worried that his heart would break all over again, but, he wasn't going to let those thoughts in his head this time. There hadn't really been anything that hadn't let him down in the past, except maybe Henry and Emma. Speaking of how he was just heading back to his room made him smile softly. "Yeah, a whole lot of it" Neal said, returning Hook's sarcastic tone and smile. At Hook's invite to join him on the Jolly Roger, Neal sighed softly and placed his hands in his jeans pockets. It would've beat being alone, something he'd had to put up with for so long that he was both used to, and sick of it. Neal shrugged softly and smiled at Hook. "Well, if you really don't mind. I'd love to join you for a while." Neal said, looking at him.

Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Neal spoke of how it scared him that he may finally have a chance at a real home. "Aye," Hook responded, fully understanding that. "Give yourself a chance, mate," he encouraged. Even if it involved encouraging Neal to try at a relationship with Emma . . . Killian's own instincts told him something differently. But as he had promised, he was not going to interfere with them. He cared far too much for Emma, Neal and Henry to be a reason they didn't have a chance to be a family. "You can only run for so long," he further added. Hook's life was a nomadic one -- he suposed it had always been as he'd lived majority of it on the sea. It had just become more so when deciding to embrace a life of piracy. His home was his Jolly Roger and he had not formal ties apart from the bond with his beloved ship.
Hook smiled when Neal agreed to have a few drinks with him. How funny it was. The last time he had seen Neal, he'd been a young boy. Hook had taught him to navigate a ship, and the two had a rather unique dynamic. But now . . . he was a grown man. Not only a son, but a father as well. Yet at the same time, Hook would forever see him as Milah's son, and that always deepened his affection for him. "Come on then," he said, giving him a friendly pat on the back with the dulled curve of his hook as he began to walk toward the docks. "Never thought I'd see the day we two would be sharing drink on the Jolly Roger," he said in an amused voice, vocalizing his earlier thoughts. "Couldn't let you touch the stuff when you were younger," he added teasingly -- considering Neal had been far too young for dirnk then.

You have no idea | | what I've lived with | Neal didn't know why he was revealing this to Hook, it may be because he had been the main person he had confided in growing up. But, that hadn't ended too well as a kid. "You know you're not the only person who's said that. Maybe I should start listening." Neal said, knowing that Snow had told him that same thing. Which meant taking the chance to be with his family and Emma. Neal could tell that Killian didn't want to help him and Emma be together, but, he appreciated that he was acting like it anyway, and, ignoring those instincts. "You're right, but, running's the thing I've always been best at and how I've always survived in life." Ever since the workhouses, Neal had been running away. He had struggled to find roots in his life, and, settle down anywhere. This place Storybrooke was looking more and more scaringly like the place he could manage to finally do this.
Neal didn't know why he had agreed to have drinks with Hook, maybe it was to allow the air to be cleared between them. And for a fresh start with him as well. The last time he'd set foot on that ship was when he was 14 years old and Hook had taught him some pirate navigation, and, he had felt a unique bond with the pirate. Now, years and years had passed and now he was physically the same age as Hook. Maybe one day, Neal would ask Hook more about what his mother was like, as an attempt to try and learn more about her. At the pat on the back, Neal smiled before nodding gently "Lead the way good sir" Neal said, as he smiled and followed Hook towards where he kept the Jolly Roger here in Storybrooke. "Never thought I'd see it either. Of course I never thought I'd see you again at all. And you stabbing my father with your Dreamshade filled hook probably wasn't what I had in mind for the reunion I never expected." Neal said, smiling softly as he looked up at the ship he'd once saw as home. "I know you couldn't, but, that didn't stop some of your crew from trying." Neal remembered how one or two crew members would attempt to hand him some rum when Hook wasn't looking.

Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Hook gave a bit of a smile when Neal expressed to him that he hadn't been the only one to give him such advice, and that perhaps he shuold start listening. "Aye, you should," the pirate responded with a teasing tone. "But alas, I know how stubborn you can be," he said in the same friendly teasing voice. "You're talking to someone who too has spent centuries surviving. But perhaps now, it is time you start truly living." Survival and living were two different things. For Hook, his life was on the sea; it was one he had chosen.
For Baelfire . . . circumstance had forced him into such a lifestyle, and Hook truly wanted better for him. He wanted the lad to be happy. Neal brought to surface the attack Hook had committed on hs father, having stabbed him with the poison in front of Neal and Emma. His revenge for The Dark One had been something he'd given up prior to departing to Neverland. But the pirate couldn't help but give a slight smile of amusement at the words, mainly the part of it not being the expected reunion. "What can I say. Always expect the unexpected with me," he said jokingly. He then paused for a moment, his voice becoming a bit more serious in his next words. "It is good to see you again Baelfire. Truly." He would always be Bae to him . . . yet he also knew that his name here was Neal.
"And whatever wrongs I have committed aganst you in the past, I hope to compensate for now." Because he had never wanted things to end like that between them. Even when they had both been competing for Emma . . . he still had a strong fondnss for Bae that would never diminish. Just as his love for Milah would never truly fade away. Killian gave a slight chuckle as Neal spoke of how others had tried to sneak him a drink. "Good thing you didn't tell me then. I would have made them walk the plank for trying such a thing," he said jokingly, rather enjoying the fact that they were capable of having a conversation on the lighter side. As the ship came into view, a smile spread on Killian's lips. "There she be. Still as beautiful as ever, eh?" He questioned only somewhat rhetorically.

You have no idea | | What I've lived with | Neal had spent so long doing what he did no matter what others thought, but, he also knew that this was probably one of those times when he felt he should listen to other people's opinions. “I know I should” Neal let out a fake offended scoff at his comment about being stubborn. “Well, if I am stubborn, I inherited parts of it from my time with you.” Neal knew that deep down it came from his father, but, there was also a part of him that inherited traits from Hook, the only other real father figure he'd had in his life. “Living hasn't really been something I've had the luxury of. Being on your own you kind of need to do what you have to do.” Neal hadn't asked for any of the things he'd been given in his life, he hadn't asked to be abandoned, or forced through a life on Neverland, and, in the foster system. His chosen lifestyle would've been something different for himself. Hook had chosen his life as a pirate, Neal hadn't chosen his.
His life had been one of feeling unwanted and alone, feeling like running away would be better then staying somewhere he obviously wasn't welcome. It was all well and good for his father to apologise for abandoning him, but, it hadn't changed any of what had happened. Neal had brought up the one thing that had reunited the two of them, without really meaning to. He had known something about the poison, and, he had assumed it must've been something from Neverland, since that was the last place he knew of Hook being. Admittedly it had still scared him, thinking that his father would be killed in front of him, he also hadn't known why it had affected him so much. Maybe because it had proved one thing, that Hook really hadn't meant he'd give up his revenge for him. Neal returned Hook's smile as he gave one to him in response. “Oh I always do.” Neal said, letting out a soft chuckle as he flashed back to the memories of his life on the Jolly Roger. Hook's next words caused Neal to slowly lower his head, “Yeah, it's good to see you too Hook.” Neal wasn't sure he would ever say these words to this man, let alone on some level mean them.
“You know, I almost believe that.” Neal said, smiling softly. He had been focused on getting back in Emma's good books as well as saving his son back on Neverland, but, there had also been on some level his memories and feelings towards Hook. He didn't want that to ruin anything between either Emma or Hook as well. Although for over two centuries, Neal had never felt anything, but, anger towards him. So, he was surprised when he was talking to him like the way they used to before everything changed. Speaking of the memories of Hook's old crew men trying to sneak him a drink or two made him smile softly. “Well, I wouldn't have wanted that to have happened on account of me.” Neal had caused so much harm to people before without meaning to, but, he was also glad that things seemed relatively normal between the both of them again. Neal glanced up at the ship as it came into view. “I'm almost positive you don't really want an answer to that.” Neal said, chuckling softly as he looked between the ship and Hook.
