Cordelia only asked one thing of her manager. Please please PLEASE don't make her work until closing! But alas, on this night, she had to close up shop. Alone. Because the owners wife was having a baby. EXCUSES! No.. not excuses.. this wasn't his fault. He should be able to see his child being born. But now, she had to go outside....alone...and walk home...alone. She would have called Sky and asked him to come pick her up, or to at least walk with her, but he was in the throws of an exciting new relationship and she didn't want to be -that- friend who put a damper on their romantic evenings together.
Cordelia didn't have that kind of luck. She didn't have a boyfriend who could come sweep her off of her feet and carry her home with his big strong arms, and his kind eyes and soft lips and his.... "Oh! Oh i'm so sorry!" She squeaked as she grabbed a fish net, scooping out some of the very large mass of food she had just dumped in to one of the aquariums. "Don't eat all of that! You'll blow up like a puffer fish." She shifted her eyes to the side to a puffer fish who seemed to look offended. "I'm sorry Phil.. you know I love you." She smiled, and finished scooping out the remaining too much food. She then placed the net to the side where it belonged, and she began to turn off the lights. Luckily for her, the shop remained lit because of the lights inside of the aquariums.
The sounds were quiet. All of the animals in the store were going to sleep for the night, and of course the fish didn't actually speak with words....so there was merely silence. She stared outside at the empty streets. It was silent out there, too. It would have been better if it was bustling.. But unfortunately, everyone was in their houses, and the lights were mostly all dimmed. With a deep breath, she stepped outside, locked up, and shoved the keys in to the pocket of her jean skirt. With a gust of bravery, she began to walk home.
The silence was eerie. No one was there, yet it felt like she had a million eyes on her. She felt awkward, and scared. It was so dark.. she hated the dark. Even at home she always had to have a night light in her bedroom to sleep properly, and she had to turn on every single light in her room when she would wake up in the middle of the night. She didn't do well at all..and she certainly wasn't doing well now. Keep it together, Cordelia... she thought to herself. It's only your imagination... or was it?
