Tag: Tharon Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION While Hook quite enjoyed his time on the seas, it was rather refreshing to enjoy a night at the tavern every so often . . . and tonight would prove as such. He had made his way in not too long ago, greeted by the cheers of the others who recognized him. Already he had told a few tales and lost count of how many drinks he had consumed. He often told the barkeep to just keep them coming.
Tonight would fall under the category of a good night indeed as he intended to take the other's money in a game of dice -- cheating or no cheating, but as a pirate one was more favorable than the other -- offer tall tales of adventure and thrill, enjoy drink and the company, and preferably leave with a lucky lass for the night until they set sail tomorrow morning.
Ah yes. This would be a good night indeed! It also helped that the tavern was bursting with activity . . . which also meant the risk of a bar fight breaking out soon, which Hook could feel was coming but would also remain uninvolved unless he was forced to engage. Tonight, he was not in the mood to deal with drunken imbeciles. He merely wanted to enjoy himself and would be rather displeased if something prevented him from doing so.

Puss had been riding for quite some time through the enchanted forest. It was a tiresome job but someone had to do it. Taking quests and rescuing local villages from bandits and black knights was a little tedious and sometimes Puss yearned for a challenge. The cat was riding on the back of a horse, a rather unusual sight but one the cat preferred to give others the stories that could be spread about the dashing and heroic cat. He certainly didn’t mind when his reputation would precede him. It made for much more excitement and a little more approval.
The last village he had been serving told a tale of great interest to the cat. It was a story of the existence of some magical boots that could transport its wearer almost instantly over long distances. Puss knew that if he could come in possession of these shoes then he could most assuredly go on even more adventures. He set off on his next unplanned adventure but now with the story of the boots fixed firmly in mind.
Riding along he brought the horse to a stop outside of a tavern. The horse whinnied to him and Puss pat the horse on the side of the neck with a paw. “Easy there Babieca.” He produced an apple from his bag and handed it to the horse who happily munched the peace offering. Puss dismounted before making his way into the tavern, walking underneath the regular level of most peoples vision. The cats plume only at best came up to waist high for most. Puss made his way to a table before hopping up to one of the benches and slid back to kick his boots up onto the table while adjusting his hat down low to cover him a bit better. His green eyes glanced around the room and his ear twitched as he tried to listen for any topics of interest.
Most of the tables appeared to be rather drunk and telling tales of other times they had been drunk. Puss later settled on hearing a name that sounded familiar to him. Hook… His head turned just a bit to incline in the direction of the table he thought he’d heard the words from. Sure enough a band of pirates were sitting about laughing and carousing happily. At the head of it all was a man with a hook. That was the nefarious captain with a reputation for traveling to other lands. Maybe he would know about what Puss was looking for.
Planting his feet on the table Puss pushed off of it and slid his chair over to sit more among the crowd of pirates who were all a bit too drunk to notice the new interloper in their midst. Puss sat and listened while waiting to see if he could find anything of interest. Of course for those in the group who weren’t drunk the cat was only mildly harder to notice due to how quiet he was among the loud laughter but he was quite out in the open.

Tag: Tharon Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Hook indeed had been far too distracted to notice the feine enter the tavern. He hadn't even noticed the animal move closer to his group, for he was in the midst of hearing and partly tell a rather amusing tale; one of his many adventures. It ended with a roar of laughter from those who were listening, and another cheers to the good Captain. Killian rather enjoyed the attention of course; it had after all taken centuries to build this reputation and now, he was basking in the fame of it. As he was casually glancing around the tavern, that was when he took notice of the strange looking feline.
Strange, because it was not on all fours as a normal cat was. Not only that, but he noticed the cat was watching him and his men. Whether it was a casual glance, or an intention one . . . Hook wasn't about to let it go. An amused smile still played on his features in the aftermath of the humorous story, but instead, his eyes met the cat's and began to speak to him, without moving from his chair. "Isn't there a height requirement to enter this tavern?" He questioned, asking no one person in particular, but ensured his voice could be heard by the feline. His words caught the attention of the men he was conversing with as they turned to follow the Captain's gaze to the cat. "As in, you have to be over three feet tall," he further stated, his voice filled with taunt and mockery toward the animal, which was responded to by a few chuckles by the men but really, they too -- as Killian -- were intrigued by this almost humanoid looking cat.

Puss listened to the story Hook was weaving to his crew mates and other people of the bar who seemed to be a local fan club of the one handed pirate. He had to admit that the man knew how to tell a yarn and he had a good deal of charisma... He was starting to wonder if he could sneak in a question about the boots but it seemed unnecessary as the mans eyes had settled on him and called him out. The captain, perhaps due to an abundance of liquor in his system or just a level of boorishness had decided to draw attention to the cats height.
Puss felt his lip curve into a small smirk as he was a little grateful for the chance to exercise some rapier wit against the man. He’d have to chose his words somewhat mindfully but he wasn’t going to be a passive dog and be kicked about and insulted. He gave a mild shrug before grabbing one of the other men's tankards and taking a sip from it and then handing it back as though it had been his own. “I left my height at the door. I believe it was along side your creativity. It’s a shame how starved for attention it was.”

Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION It seemed the cat had a bit more courage than one may initially assume based on his appearance. For that, Hook had to give him credit. Though that of course didn't mean he appreciated being insulted in front of the others. "And here I was concerned that the cat had your tongue," he stated sarcastically, making a pun of the situation. His smile began to fade a bit more though he was not short of amusement over the situation. Not only was this cat almost like a human in the way it moved . . . but it talked too. How bizarre. For here was Killian, having a conversation with a cat.
He supposed he'd encountered stranger things, but this was certainly something to add to the list. "Don't you have a mouse to chase?" He asked with a continued tone of mockery. "That is the only reason they even let you in this place, isn't it?" He futher inquired, somewhat rhetoricall. "Can't imagine why else they would permit you entrance and risk cleaning up hairballs all night." Hook would have blamed the liquor for making him talk to a cat . . . if it weren't for the fact that he was still aware of his surroundings and had some semblance of sobreity. So really, this was just a strange encounter, but an intriguing one none the less. Conversations with a cat . . . it would be added to a tale he was certain he'd tell somewhere down the road.

Puss made an obvious roll of his eyes at the continued feline puns from the captain. The other crew members seemed to be just as stunned but unable to speak as the two started into what felt a friendly banter. Puss had been in taverns before and typically they did always have to have one or two loudmouths in it. The captain had a reputation and that gave him clearance to normally do what he wanted.. Puss was a free agent though and he removed his hat to adjust the feather that was in it. Much like a cat he seemed to not even be entirely paying attention to what the captain was saying.
“Your concern is flattering if not misplaced. I am sure that you are a most well respected lure on your ship. You can hang over the edge and be both bait and hook at the same time for some larger fish.” The cat placed his hat back on and made a sort of waving motion at Hooks hand. “Then again I suppose I should tip you for it isn’t often one gets to have dinner and a show.” Fishing out a coin he flicked it onto the table before Hook. “Don't scrape the table trying to pick it up.”

Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION The air of amusement among his crew seemed to fade when the coin was flung in front of the pirate captain. For anyone who lay witness, would know what a grand insult that was. Hook scared at the coin, his smile less amused but it was still there as he glanced back up at the mouthy feline. He ignored his words and instead, focused on his actions.
"I'll killed men for less," he informed him, no without an ounce of remorse in his voice. "But then again, perhaps you will be the first cat I kill for such insolence. And with any luck, the last I encounter." For he didn't exactly want to make a habit of conversing with talking cats. But Hook made no move toward him. Not out of cowardice but because he refused to stand in the presence of a cat. This whole scenario just grew more and more bizarre. "Before I gut you, tell me, why is it you were staring at me and my crew with such interest." For it had been the staring that had caused Hook to speak to the feline . . . not that he needed an overly detailed reason to address a cat. But it had indeed been one of the reasons.

Puss tail tip flipped and twitched from where it was located behind the back of his chair. His confidence still painted on his lips and in his eyes as he saw that his actions had struck a nerve with the captain. He popped his paw like digits while feeling for when the first attack might come and readying to draw his weapon if he was in need of doing so. He gave contemplation to tossing another insult the pirates way but he opted instead for being honest this time. He leaned back to sit up strait in the chair and placed one foot on the middle support of the table, in case he would have to kick off again at a moments notice. "You have a reputation for being a broad traveler. I was curious if you had heard of something I was looking for." He licked his fingers and combed his whiskers back. "You threw the first insult and I will not suffer such indignation like a dog but if you care to end your life on my blade then let us fight as gentleman and not as drunken brawlers."

Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION The cat spoke of how Hook had a reputation and it caused the pirate captain to raise an eyebrow. "Ah so you've heard of me. Well then you're more stupid than I thought," he stated, causing a small chuckle from the surrounding men. "For anyone who knows who I am, and speaks to me the way you have, is just looking to meet his end." And this cat seemed to be no exception. He said he was looking for something, and whether Killian had heard of it.
"Well if its cat nip, then may I suggest checking the vendor down the street in the morning," he said mockingly, wondering what a cat could possibly be in search for. Then again, he was a talking cat so he supposed nothing else should come as a surprise. It was the feline's words about suggesting that Hook would meet his end by his sword that caused the captain to chuckled with great amusement, his crew men also sharing the humor in the statement. "Bloody hell, mate, how much of that spoiled milk have you had to drink?" He asked rhetorically. "I wouldn't even waste the effort of drawing my sword against you. It is a complete waste of my time. Now if you are looking for assistance, then might I suggest next time, you not silently stare at the person you wish to ask. In a place like this, you'll get neutered for doing such a thing." His voice hardly consisted of a friendly warning. He was just incredibly amused by the 'threat'. To be threatened by a cat . . . now that was laughable indeed.

The cat continued to smile and his tail flicked with quicker interest as he saw that for the moment that Hook wasn’t making a move. He was starting to feel a confidence well inside of him. As the insults continued the cat removed his foot from the table and stood up with a deliberate purpose. His posture one of pure confidence as he began to walk slowly around the table, again grabbing a mug from off the table and taking a drink from it. “I’ve heard of a pirate with one hand and apparently only half a brain to go with it. As for what I’m looking for-” He leaned his free paw on the leg of the chair as he looked up at Hook, his green eyes giving a slow cat like blink. “I doubt you could comprehend anything beyond your own ego.”
Puss raised the tankard to his lips and took another drink of the other mans drink. His eyes still remaining unresponsive as he made a little bit of a face from the taste. “I would figure that you would not draw your sword. I must say that I expected bravado but not a coward. You use insults to hide it but to me actions speak louder than words.” He poured the drink out on the floor at Hooks feet. “You talk a big game but if you refuse the challenge, I see that you are nothing more than a coward and your crew must be equally spineless to serve a captain who won’t even defend his honor.”
