It was a tail as old as time, as they say. Or.. was it tale?
Boy's ship gets capsized, Girl rescues boy from certain death,
Girl falls in love with boy, but has to flee the scene so he doesn't realize she's a mermaid...
A year after the incident, Ariel came across an invitation to a ball that Prince Eric was holding. She knew that this was the time of the high tide where the Goddess Ursula granted mermaids and mermen the ability to walk on the land.. Or at least, that was the myth... but she would at least try! What would be the harm? On her way to the castle, she saved a woman from drowning. Her name was Snow White. When Ariel was able to walk on land thanks to the gift of the high tide, Snow White accompanied her to the castle after she spoke of how she wanted to see the man she had rescued a year prior, and knew she was in love with.
Snow White attempted to teach Ariel the ways of humans, but it was a little difficult, as Ariel had an image of things in her mind.. Such as a fork being a miniature trident. In fact, she was so interested in the fork, that she had kept it in the pocket of the gown she acquired for the dress. The moment she saw Eric, she felt too nervous, and wanted to go back to the sea, but Snow shoved her in to Eric. He asked her to dance.
He recognized her as the woman who saved him, but she lied out of fear of rejection... he was still enthralled with her. Ariel wanted to tell him the truth, but she was scared.. scared to tell him, and have to go back to the sea.. and so, she ran out to the dock to consult with the waves, speaking aloud to the Goddess Ursula.. who answered. Only it was Regina, the evil queen in disguise. She had promised to give Ariel a bracelet that could grant her the ability to walk on land permanently, but someone had to take her place. In desperation, she chose Snow White.
Regina's plans were eventually unraveled, and Ariel switched back to being a mermaid, allowing Snow White to continue being a human. They swam to freedom, but Ariel was still punished by Regina. The evil queen stole her voice, so that she could never tell Eric how she felt.
Nearly three decades later, Regina called upon Ariel through a conch shell in Neverland - as Ariel - being a mermaid - can travel through realms. Regina asked for a favor, and granted Ariel with her voice, as well as the braclet once more, but this time she could change from human to mermaid whenever she wanted. Ariel accepted Regina's wish, and went to retrieve the item from Storybrooke that she had asked for. She later discovered that Eric lived there, working on the docks.
Everything seemed as though it were going well, until Eric was kidnapped once they were all transported back to the Enchanted Forest during the second curse. He was taken aboard the Jolly Roger that was now controlled by Black Beard. With the help of Killian Jones, Eric was freed, and the two of them lived, seemingly, happily ever after.. But, that's not always how things went.
She visited home.. and it was a mistake, as she was captured by Black Beard when he found her surfacing. When the Jolly Roger was shrunk she had been on it, and wasn't freed until Ursula (The former mermaid) returned the ship to its former glory. Luckily Ariel was still alive, because it was her who saved Killian when Ursula tossed him overboard.
She then helped find Posidon, Ursula's father, to regain Ursula's gift of song.

Ariel sighed, as she sat on the large rock, overlooking the Maritime kingdom that was the home of Prince Eric. It had been months since she had rescued him, and she had thought of him every day.. But she knew they couldn't be together. It wasn't just because of the fact that she wasn't a human, but also because her father - along with most merpeople - had no trust for humans, and so he forbade it. Ariel never wanted to give up, though. She knew, deep down, that one day he would look at her as he did when she had saved his life. She wanted nothing more than to see him again.. to see that look in his eyes.
She had been sitting on this rock for quite awhile now.. She had lost track of time, and realized that the sun was going down. She dove under the water, and swam deep below the surface, down where no human could possibly survive. She held a pouch at her side, that jingled slightly as she swam.. It was filled with little things that she had collected from the sea that humans had dropped. Maybe one day, she could show them to Eric, and impress him with her wares.
For now though, she had to talk to someone, or rather somefish about this..and there was only one guppy she could think of. Flounder.
