Tag: LiamNote: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION May the stars guide you home, Liam, wherever you may be . . . until then, your spirit will never leave my side. Those were the words Kililan had spoken the last time he was here. Lewis had managed to convince him that it was just an illusion; that Liam was truly dead. But Killian had never been entirely convinced. Whether it was the hope and desperate need for Liam to be alive that drove him . . . he didn't know.
What was becoming abundantly clear though was that he would lose every one he loved. First his mother. Then Liam. And then, Milah. So this time, Hook was completely prepared. Should the monster wish to cast an illusion upon him, Hook was ready for it. He had even ensured he was sober so that nothing would be compromised. They had to pass these seas, regardless of the danger or the painful memories that existed here. It had occurred centuries ago.
Hopefully, he would not be forced to endure them again. "Keep your wits about you, lads!" Killian announced to the crew as he stood at the steering wheel of the ship. "This vile creature is manipulative. Do not give in to whatever falsity you may see before your eyes." He wasn't sure if the words were meant for his crew, or for himself. Either way, he had stated them. He took a deep breath as he turned the wheel of the ship to lead it toward the waters of the Leviathan Shoal, that were tainted with the memories of Liam. Ones that were not real . . . or well, that was what Hook had to keep telling himself.

For a long time, the Leviathan had left his shoals, search other waters for easy prey until returning to the place it called home. He knew the drill. He'd be released sometimes, only in order to lure some ships along, make them vulnerable over fuzzing over the person they just rescued, before they'd meet their doom. Leviathan was hunting not unlike a human fisher, but around it's young he more resembled a plain whales habits of toying with it's prey, namely him. Leviathan shoals though had become a relaxing zone over time. The monster did not come there to hunt per say, knowing fully well humans would not avoid the place, clever humans at least, humans who valued their lives. Some men were daring, thinking they could kill the beast, but so far none succeeded and even fewer lived to tell the tale of encountering it.
In all honesty he had not expected being released that day, he hadn't expected the cool rush of air as his lungs filled with oxygen once on the surface again. As usual he was quick to hold onto a piece of wood, which has been released just like him. Had it not been for the mist around him, he wouldn't have bothered looking up to see the ship approaching. It was all the same, over and over again. But this was the creatures lair, someone had sailed into these waters, so Liam looked up, hoping to be able to give them a signal or to avoid being detected somehow.
He felt his heart tighten painfully as he recognized the unique shape of this one ship. The Jewel of the Realms approached him. Killian. Was this a bad nightmare? A cruel deja vue? Did Leviathan play a trick on him to torture him this time? Whatever it was, Liam mustered up his strength, waving to the ship to move, leave, turn around, let him be and save themselves, save Killian.
"GET AWAY YOU FOOLS!!!"

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION It didn't take long for the creature to commence it's manipulative tricks. For soon enough, they saw through the mist, a figure. Killian would recognize the man anywhere and what confirmed his fears, was the voice. The way he told him to get away, indicating that they were to save themselves. Killian would not be fooled. But . . . he just looked so real. So, alive. His voice so, familiar. Filled with emotions that surely no creature could concoct. No! He couldn't be so naive and foolish. This was a cruel trick and nothing more! But Killian needed to confront it. The last time, he had sailed away. This time, he would address it . . . directly. The crew looked to him, waiting to hear what their orders would be.
"Bring it on board!" Killian demanded in a voice that held no room for argument. Even Smee did not question the captain, though the fear was evident in his face. He referred to the being as 'it' . . . for it was not his brother, and Hook would kill whatever this was. Perhaps, it was the Leviathan itself. Killian moved toward the center of the ship, working on composing his emotions so that he could stare his fear in the face rather than run away from it.
He needed to confront it. And it was now, or never. He drew his sword when he heard his orders fulfilled, and the man came aboard his ship. Holding the sword to the point of this creature's neck, Hook stared at him, fighting back the emotion that filled him over seeing his brother. No. Seeing someone who looked like his brother. "Even after so long, you stay with the same tricks demon." He was angry, to say the least. "Well I will bring it to an end today. I will no longer let you tarnish the memory of my brother." Could it be as easy as running this creature through? And yet . . . he couldn't. He clenched his jaw, the tip of his sword continuing to touch the flesh of the imposter's neck without piercing it.

As the ship approached him, despite his desperate gestures to get the hell out, he felt himself deflate. Would he have enough time to warn them? If Leviathan noticed the connection to the ships captain, he might just let them have enough time to converse, maybe he’d really have enough time to warn his beloved little brother… or was he still that man? The ship itself had barely changed, he noticed upon getting closer. A few dents, natural occurrences for a ship well used, but that was it. It was the deck that stood out. He couldn’t see a single uniform anymore, especially not, as they fished him out of the water and hauled him on deck.
Liam felt his knees on the verge of giving out, no longer used to actually fully supporting his weight anymore, but some of those men kept their arms and hands on him, keeping him upright despite gravity wanting to pull him down to his knees. Perhaps it would be more befitting to kneel before Killian or the man he had become. Liam suffered from no illusions. After their last encounter he knew his brother would continue to change, to react to his environment and adapt. Even upon the first fleeting glace, he saw this man was no longer the man he knew when they traveled to Neverland together. His eyes only briefly brushed the hook now replacing his brothers hand. What had he been through? What hell must Killian have endured? Enough to be filled with enough anger to fill those once shining eyes with more emotions than Liam could ever hope to name. In turn it filled him with pain and regret. Why him?
“Do what you must, Killian. End it, but do it fast, sailor.” He had no authority here, but it did not matter. He had this one chance to warn him. The Jewel could potentially outrun the Leviathan, but only if they turned swiftly and left those waters as soon as possible. Once the creature decided to attack, there was next to no way the Jewel could outrun it. “You must leave those waters. The Leviathan knows you’re here. It will attack. Your ship can outrun it, but only if you react immediately. Little brother, please.”

Note: proper gif coming soon! It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION There was something about the way the creature spoke. It was the same as the last time. A feeling deep within Killian's gut. No. In the very core of his heart. It just, sounded so much like Liam. The way he spoke, the tone, the emotion behind his eyes . . . it seemed so very much like his brother. He knew that he had to come here prepared for this, but Lewis was now not whispering in Killian's ear about this being some sort of trick or trap. It was now up to Killian to decide for himself. Why would the monster warn him? Then again, why wouldn't he if he was pretending to be Liam? Of course Liam would try to warn him. It was all part of the trickery, surely!
"Do not call me brother!" He snapped angrily. Hearing such a term fall from a stranger's lips was more than Killian could bare to take. "You are not my brother! My brother died centuries ago!" He knew he had to remain calm, as composed as he could. His entire crew was watching them . . . he couldn't break down. He couldn't let this creature get inside his head. "What are you?" suddenly asked, the anger hardly absent from his voice but held more calmness to it than before. "You are real to touch and you sound like any human. What evil magic is this? What trickery is this?" He was some sort of bait, meant to lure him in . . . but what was odd, was why Liam? Surely the creature had new tricks up its sleeve. Why not . . . Milah. Liam was what he had seen centuries ago. Why was he still here, just the way he was before.

“What else am I supposed to call you? Captain? Captain, it is then.” His words stung, like it had stung to see him and his crew leave as he stood on this burning ship, frozen in fear of the creature that had tortured him for years already then. But he could not blame his brother. He held him as dreamshade claimed his life. He made this pain easier, by just holding him. And he gave him a proper sailors burial. How was Killian to know there had been just enough life in him left for Leviathan to heal him and use him for all those – wait, had Killian said centuries? How was that possible? Then again, what did it matter? If he survived centuries, all the more reason to make him leave as soon as possible, so Killian could save his life.
“The evil magic of the Leviathan.” It was true, after all. It was what kept him alive all those years, centuries even it seemed. Liam was, for a moment unsure of what to say. I was his brother, he longed to make him understand he was alive, at the same time that would most likely take too much time and endanger Killian. He couldn’t… he was his big brother, he was meant to protect him! “I feel real, because I am real. The Leviathan doesn’t bother with illusions. It toys with its prey, keeps it alive for as long as it wants it alive and uses it to get new prey. You picking me up made you a target. So, Killian, get the hell out of here! Before it can strike! Please.” What did it take for him to heed his warnings? Probably not knowing that it was actually his brother. He’d want to save him, which would ultimately really make him the target. Killian Jones

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Killian had explicitly warned the others of this cruel magic, yet it seemed that he was the one being taken by it. Once again, he was falling under its spell and Lewis was not here to tell him words of reason. The pirate had yet to determine whether this was a good or bad thing. The way it spoke to him . . . it sounded so much like Liam. The tone of words he used, and the reaction it elicited in Killian. For hearing his brother ever refer to him as Captain, hurt. Because if Liam were still alive, Killian would not have been Captain.
And yet, the title was far less painful to hear than 'brother'. He remained silent as the creature spoke of the Leviathan, telling him that he was real, urging him to leave for by taking Liam on board, he had made himself a target. Killian knew that he should toss him back overboard and just go through the shoals. Yet, he couldn't. Something deep within his gut was stopping him. It could be part of the trick, but Killian survived for as long as he had by trusting his instinct . . . regardless of how it was compromised. "Tell me something only Liam would know," he suddenly stated. "Tell me something to convince me you are real, and that I shouldn't just toss you back where I found you." He couldn't allow himself to soften; to be overly accepting of the logic presented by this perceived illusion. Killian needed proof. Needed to hear something that only his beloved brother and he would know. Appearances could be deceiving, but memories and matters of the heart did not lie.

What could he possibly want to hear? Liam could think of several things he could say or do, but could it convince his baby brother? Did he want it to convince him? In reality he didn’t mind to be thrown overboard again, as long as Killian escaped with his life – hell he didn’t even particularly care for Killians crew. Most of them were strangers these days, strangers he didn’t know. Only one or two seemed to still remain from his time. For a moment Liam wondered what happened to the rest, especially to Lewis, who seemed to have been a close confidant to Killian. Absentmindedly, he touched the scars on his arms, the visible burns that not even Leviathan bothered to heal.
“For the record, you should toss me back.” It was just as simple and it would protect their lives. He should throw him overboard, no matter what he would say, but part of Liam was selfish. Part of him just wanted to hug his brother again, to hold him and tell him that all would be alright. Part of him wanted to finally escape the Leviathans clutches. And suddenly, born from the urge to hold his brother and to soothe him, he knew what he could say – or not say. The one thing that only he could know, no other, that maybe Killian himself had buried deep in his heart in pain. Liam began to softly sing the lullaby their mother had taught him, the lullaby he had sung to him even long after their mother had passed. Only Killian would understand what this was and meant and only him and Liam knew of this song and their mother singing it, as well as him singing it to him. As the final tones faded, Liam looked up at him again. “Believe me now, little brother?”

It's Always Nice TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION Killian wasn't sure what he expected the impostor claiming to be his brother would do as proof. So when he started singing, Killian froze. It wasn't just the familiarity of the melodic voice, but also the lyrics; the very song he was singing. It had been one that their mother sang when they had been younger, and one Liam had sang when she had been too unwell to do so. Even when she passed, the song had brought Killian comfort and his brother often granted him that. It had also been a lullaby that the pirate had sang to his unborn child when Milah was alive . . . and now, he was hearing it again. It was indeed all the proof he needed, and he felt unable to speak when the song drew to a close and Liam questioned if that was good enough.
Hook nearly dropped the sword from his hand, yet somehow managed to keep a hold of it. He swallowed back the emotions that flood his entire being. He was unsure how long the period of silence passed before he was able to form words. "Liam?" He said, though this time, his tone was different. It was not anger at someone claiming to be him. It was not filled with uncertainty. It was . . . acknowledgment. For this, was his brother. Killian consciously dropped the sword onto the deck of the ship and moved toward his brother; without thinking twice, he put his arms around him, wrapping them tightly in a hug. His brother. His beloved brother. Soon the guilt would set in, but right now, he was basking in any semblance of joy found in the fact that his brother was alive, and that he was here. There was shock of course, but over all else, in this moment, there was a joy.

“Yes, Liam.” Had he not just proven it was him? As much as he could. But then he slowly realized where this came from. After god knew how long, Liam needed a moment to realize the emotion and acknowledgement in his brothers voice and eyes, like he saw him for the first time and perhaps he did. Before that he had refused to see him as him, now he finally accepted that it was him, really him. Back then he had also doubted him, hadn’t he? Liam melted into the embrace, hugging his brother back, but briefly. No matter how badly Killian needed the reunion, he knew it would be cut short one way or another, so he pulled away, had to. They would always have time later on, if they survived.
“There is time for that later, Killian.” He said softly. “But like I said the Leviathan is out there. Multiple of them, grown and babies. They will attack. We have to set sail now if we want to survive this. Or well, you.” They would probably let him live, keep him alive as a pet for more years. Maybe one or two more of them. If they wanted to actually survive they needed to get the hell out of here, preferably on land. God he missed to be on land. The sea, his former mistress held horrors for him now, in the form of this creature. “Maybe the Jewel can outrun them, Killian. But only if we get a headstart. Once she decides to strike… we’ll lose.”
