Darla looked at the young mermaid and sighed. Yes, the young mermaid had been rambling, but she didn't blame her. People seemed to be nervous in her presence. She was young and naive at a point in time, but becoming both the leader and main counselor for Delphinum Pod entitled that she had to work with more maturity than normal. The whole idea of power disgusted her. She just wanted enough power to be able to make her fellow mermaids happy, if that meant killing landfolk, she'd be okay with that. She sneered at the young mermaid as she mentioned a merman, Poseidon. There were no mermans in Neverland and certainly no leaders who were a man. She despised giving power to a sloppy patriarch who wouldn't know how to get the work she could get done more efficiently.
"Right, thank you for coming to check on our preparations. I am Darla, leader of Delphinum Pod. The eve of harvest is near and we are very busy. You may leave now, thank you." She smiled at the young mermaid and moved her hand, beckoning her away from the area that she started to swim through, "And I wouldn't be so quick to swim any further. The natives on Neverland are extra determined for some mermaid morsels this time of year, as they're also having their harvest. You'd best run along now." She put extra emphasis to the young mermaid about leaving. She did admire the young mermaid for swimming so far away from her pod, but it was dangerous in the waters for any mermaid, even exotic ones. Darla didn't want to seem harsh, but she had no choice. If she seemed as if she was being polite, mermaids wouldn't listen to her. Especially young and reckless ones.

Darla had finished with her daily duties being the leader of Delphinum Pod. She looked at all of the things that she needed to do, which consisted of checking on the preparations of the Daily Harvest event since the eve of Autumn was appearing. She was amazed at the abundance of things that mermaid magic could allow her pod to do. They could plant any tree or fruit that was on land with some of the abilities of being a mermaid. Some mermaids had certain skills or abilities, much like the fairies on the other side of Neverland in Pixie Hollow. Darla admired the fairies for being able to be around pirates or even any landfolk. She had bad experiences being around the deathly vermin, but she shook it off when it came to her day-to-day responsibilities. On land, she'd be called a Queen. But here she could be happy with the title leader. Most of the merfolk around Neverland bowed down to her.
A lot of the mermaids also were rebels and tried forming groups that were not apart of Darla's culture. She despised this and would send out patrols of mermaids to get them to return, so they may be properly punished. Being around landfolk was extremely dangerous, especially for mermaids. She had her reasons for despising men and land-dwellers in general. Many mermaids were killed and even eaten in cannibalistic rituals that the tribes indigenous to Neverland would perform. Well, that was rumored. She wasn't fully aware what the natives did, but with their feathery hats and moccasins, it was also safe to not dwell with them for too long, if at all. The pirates were no better, they were known to take away mermaids to do dastardly things to them. This was something that she'd known for a fact. The last leader of Delphinum Pod was killed by a pirate. There were no mermen in the ocean of Neverland and Darla wasn't aware of the possibilities of there being one. She had an extreme distaste for anyone who wasn't a mermaid.
A young mermaid quickly skimmed past Darla in a hurry. She had never since this particular mermaid in Neverland's shores, so she immediately followed her, going as fast as she could possibly go. Darla finally caught up to the mermaid after some time and quickly tackled the mermaid who swam before her. "Rogue mermaid! Stop moving! What is your purpose here?" She had no idea who this young mermaid was and definitely was not looking for any trouble.

I'm currently looking for a strictly evil Neverland Pirate OC. You may give him an empathetic past, but he is evil for the most part. (Sort of like King George.) "After Darla's leader died, she became the leader of Delphinum Pod and oversaw all of the security of the area. She became tired of mermaids venturing forth to Neverland's ponds, so she forbade anyone going to where the land people dwell. Eventually, these rules were broken. Young and curious mermaids were getting swept away by sailors into the unknown and she eventually had to deal with the oncoming threat of the two-legged. Darla eventually was caught in a ship's net and she screamed that if any of the pirates stepped foot on their territory again, they'd be dealing with a threat far larger than her. The captain of the ship had a mysterious potion that contained a curse. The curse made it so any creature, such as mermaids, would be changed into a human forever. He had been looking for a wife, specifically a mermaid wife. He eventually poured the potion onto Darla and it permanently changed her into a human. Darla was unable to swim back to her pod, which caused her to become helpless. She was stuck being the pirate's wife for a few years until she was able to escape. They were eventually in a place called the Enchanted Forest where she tried to find a way to become a mermaid again. After the Dark Curse hit, she was sent to Storybrooke. " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So I will now give you the specifics about the pirate who I am requesting. (I'd also like to add that the only way to break a curse is true love's kiss, so the curse that he put on Darla is only breakable through true love's kiss. He most likely knows this.) He's quite controlling and evil. He kidnapped Darla and turned her into a human from being a mermaid for his own selfish wants. She makes it her mission to typically rid of him & to turn back into a mermaid to go back to Neverland. He is controlling and possessive of her and will rarely let her leave his sight. You can pick his name and such. We'll talk about it as well. My preferable face claim for him is Javier Bardem. |

Darla & Ursula
I could totally see that! Darla would definitely befriend Ursula since they're both mermaids. The amity could carry over to where Villain!Ursula is in Storybrooke. Darla was a villain in some points of her life so a thread regarding that could also be cool.
They also have a common enemy- A pirate.. Ursula's enemy is Hook and Darla's pirate-enemy isn't casted yet. But they could definitely relate on that aspect. Darla lost her fin due to a pirate and Ursula lost her voice. So I can definitely see that they relate a lot in that aspect. Pirates suck!

Strengths:
Darla has powers outside of the water, such as the echolocation and the ability to control water. She usually can concentrate up to an extent, but if she is extremely emotional at the time or if she's being pressured, the abilities are more difficult for her to use. She has a trident that is about the size of a small dagger, it releases neurotoxins while in water. It allows her to paralyze animals or people to an extent. It does not work on land. She also steals whatever she can find using her echolocation-finding ability. She also has the power to manipulate water around her, freeze the water, and cause the water to evaporate using heat. Mermaids from Neverland also have the ability to create storms and other natural disasters when they're around water. On land, they can manipulate clouds to allow it to rain, but no exaggerated storm. She can also heal people with water and do other benevolent things with enchanting it. She can either use her hand or her mind to control water, usually hand gestures are more prominent, as it is more precise and accurate.
Darla is also quite persuasive and is responsible with what she does. She's able to maneuver out of situations quickly and is able to lead others in groups. She is also quite brave and is not afraid of doing anything that might hurt her, especially to protect those she loves.
Weaknesses:
Her Chauvinism is her dedication to the merpeople and being a female. She is not used to men and usually had convoluted stories told of them when she was younger. She usually thinks that all of mankind are bad and she is afraid of mermen. Darla is also quite confrontational and tell someone if she is upset or disagrees with something. This can cause her to get into bad situations and make her seem egotistic. She is also quite sensitive and loud with her emotions. She can jump into situations which makes her seem reckless and irresponsible, even if she knows exactly what she's getting into. Darla has a curious wanderlust that may seem a bit irrational. She doesn't want to leave the ocean, but poking around is sometimes that she does for fun, which can cause her to end up in the wrong places at the wrong times.

Mermaids usually adapt to the surroundings that they grow up in and Darla Mo happened to grow around dolphins. This helped her with her echolocation abilities and her intuition. Darla grew up in a mermaid pod called Delphinum which was comprised of a large family of mermaids. She became a counselor for her mermaid pod when she was only 7 years old, which was surprisingly young for a mermaid.
Darla Mo was raised in a community with dolphins. This has given her the ability to use echolocation to find things that she looks for. This also helps her thwart any danger that might be near, to protect the animals or people that are around her. This carries onto land, as she seems to be extremely great at finding lost things. She has held onto her secret from treasure hunters such as pirates so she wouldn't be taken advantage of.
Dolphins are also extremely empathetic animals who are very intuitive in situations, even if they do not understand the language displayed. Darla is able to communicate with people emotionally, as she can empathize with others in situations and can usually come to a proper conclusion. This has helped with her becoming independent and a leader. She loves to be around people though, just not controlled. She is very loud and extroverted just like dolphins and is not always cheery.
Darla Mo is also somewhat sassy when it comes to confrontations with land-people and doesn't really know how to interact with men, as she was mostly raised in an all-women pod. She has since broke a bit from her pod, due to her wanderlust. This has made her a severe target for pirates who roam around Neverland.
When Darla began to be of age, she curiously went around parts of Neverland's shores to see what land-people were doing. There were mostly pirates and young children. A few mermaids were native to the pools of Neverland, but she was too afraid to go into those waters. She would carefully watch them in disgust, hoping that she'd never have to be part of their world. She wanted to stay in the ocean, apart of her pod. Pirates that always seemed to threaten their waters were coming closer and closer to where the Delphinum Pod resided, so she had no choice but to confront them.
