Belle smiled kindly as the woman explained who she was. She could see that the young woman was embarrassed. "I've seen your work," she smiled, trying to alleviate the tension. "It's quite impressive. I've seen many different abilities in the Enchanted Forest but never one involving ice and snow." It was fascinating, although perhaps a bit less that it concerned the town.
She nodded understandingly as she mentioned that she was looking for her sister. "We have quite the array of books here," she began, gesturing towards the rows behind her. "Hopefully we can find something here that will help you." She turned on her heel, pausing before a particular row. "Have you tried a locator spell?"
She imagined that Regina could administer one or even her husband, if she asked him.

Belle had not been this happy and content with her life since Colette had passed. She was in love and, best of all, the man she had such feelings for returned them. No longer was she a servant of Rumpelstiltskin but his wife. She supposed some might find it surprising. Had she heard of such a woman existing before she met Rumple she might have thought the poor lady daft for being with such a man. But Rumple was so much more than others were led to believe.
She wished dearly that he would give up the power that he retained yet knew such a thing might be impossible. For the current moment she was content to simply love and be loved by him in return.
She found herself in the market, bartering with the locals with gold coins given to her by her husband. Belle was used to having the finer things in life due to her noble status, though she'd never allowed such a thing to inflate her ego or change her behavior. Her parents had not spoiled her but simply outfitted her befitting her station. Her husband, on the other hand, seemed to shower gifts upon her. She'd reminded him more than once that she didn't need flashy gifts or expensive presents. She was happy to simply have him.
She stepped out of the bookseller's shop, clutching a fresh leather bound book. She smiled as she drifted her fingertips over the purchase before setting it in the basket on her arm.

A light breeze drifted through the air, brushing aside a stray strand of hair from the bun at the back of her head. The young woman carefully tucked the brunette strand behind her ear as she returned her attention to the book in her lap. Belle knew such quiet moments were to be cherished as they would soon become a rarity. Upon reaching her twenty-first birthday in a few weeks her father would announce her betrothal to Gaston, the God of War. She thought it a mismatched pairing for the Goddess of Beauty and Knowledge, yet her father did not agree. Marriages between the celestial ruling classes often crosses familial lines yet luckily she was not related to the egotistical god. She supposed she could do worse.
She turned the page of her book, biting her lip gently as she studied the text. Her title, granted at birth, had shocked some. Some, celestials and mortals alike, believed that a woman could not be both beautiful and intelligent. Yet she'd proven them wrong, at least she hoped. The young goddess paused in her reading to reflect upon the words read, studying the clearing she'd been sitting in. Her blue silk gown would most likely be creased thanks to the tree stump she'd been sitting upon though she imagined she would be able to return to her father's palace without anyone noticing. After a moment she returned her gaze to the page, fingertips lovingly caressing the parchment. It was one of her mothers and had been given to her before the woman had died. Though most mortals believed that the gods could not be killed it was indeed possible under rare circumstances. Colette, Goddess of Learning, had been vanquished by an ogre to the despair of her family and the mortals she patronized. The woman's loss still stung, years later.
As she returned to her book Belle was able to let her worries and concerns melt away.

Belle thought it rather a good idea of Henry to request a part-time job from his grandfather. She felt that the two did not spend nearly as much time together as they should. She supposed it must be difficult for Henry to split his time between all his family: he had two mothers, two grandfathers, and an uncle. She supposed he now had two grandmothers as well. It was somewhat comical to think of herself as a grandmother as she was hardly old enough to be considered one, nor did she have any children of her own. Still, she wished to bond with her grandson as well as she could.
"How is school, Henry?" she inquired, looking up from the ledgers that her husband kept behind the counter. She carefully wrote in her neat script an order purchased by Dr. Whale that afternoon. The antique pocket watch that the doctor had chosen rested beside her hand, waiting to be polished and boxed before he picked it up the next day. The brunette hoped Henry wouldn't mind something as simple as small talk to jump start their conversation as they both worked.

Belle smiled at the woman's greeting. "I'm Belle," she introduced herself. She took in the young woman's hesitant appearance. No doubt she must be stressed, looking for her sister. She couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt as she remembered the last time she'd seen Anna. It had been her fault that she'd been captured by the Snow Queen. She pushed aside the emotion, focusing on doing what she could to help the visitor.
The librarian's smile brightened as she explained the purpose of her visit. "I can certainly help you with that," she assured her. "At least, I can try my best to find the book you seek." She wished to expand the library further, having been building up a list of books that she wished to add to the current catalog.
"What are you looking for, exactly?"

The cart loaded with books before her contained quite the assortment of fairy tales. Belle drifted her fingertips lightly over them, a small smile forming on her lips at the touch. It was terribly amusing to her that the life stories of those living in Storybrooke were taken for myth by people around the world. Of course the books stacked on the cart didn't get everything right; she certainly hadn't wed a beast with fur nor had her father stolen a rose. Yet the adaptations captured the heart of their stories, even if the details were different.
The heels of her fine leather shoes clacked against the floor of the library as she rolled the cart toward the correct shelf, pausing before it. She began shelving the books according to the number printed on their binding when she heard the door to the library open. She stepped out from beyond the shelf, smiling slightly at the visitor. By the young woman's appearance it was clear that she wasn't from Storybrooke. At least, not from the first curse; she'd yet to assimilate into this world's clothing. "Can I help you?" she asked, having yet to speak to the infamous woman who'd nearly encased the town in ice.

Belle was born to Sir Maurice and Lady Collette, their only child. She was given an expansive education, one that was not always given to a child of her gender. She was introduced to a love of learning and reading by her mother. Ogres threatened the land during her young adulthood which led to the loss of Collette’s life as she protected her daughter. When Belle awoke after the tragedy she found that her memories of the event were erased. She sought out trolls in Arrendelle who were gifted in restoring memories, leading her to meet Princess Anna. She fails to save both Anna from the Snow Queen and the potion that would return her memories.
A time after returning to her kingdom Belle finds herself engaged to a man named Gaston at the will of her father. At this point the ogres were close to wiping out the entire kingdom, leaving Maurice desperate enough to call for Rumpelstiltskin for aid. Rumple required Belle in exchange for getting rid of the ogres. Despite her father and Gaston not approving, she chose to make her own decision to save her people by going with him. Belle enters into servitude of Rumpelstiltskin. Initially he is cold toward her however her patience and kindness cause him to see her in another light. The pair spend time together. While serving him tea she chips a china cup.
She and Rumple come across a man, Robin Hood, who is attempting to steal from Rumpelstiltskin. He is imprisoned by Rumple yet freed by Belle. As Robin still has the article he stole from Rumpelstiltskin the pair go off to hunt him. Rumple is deterred from killing him at Belle’s request, as Robin Hood is to be a father.
As the months progress the two grew closer. Rumpelstilskin eventually decides to let Belle go, asking that she go to the village to fetch straw. He doesn’t believe that she will return and is resigned to the fact. On the way Belle comes across Regina who explains to her that True Love can break any curse. Encouraged by this fact Belle returns to the castle and kisses Rumpelstiltskin to cure him of the Dark Curse. He accuses her of playing him and denies her protests that what they feel is True Love. He throws her out of the Dark Castle, being led to believe by Regina that she was killed not long after.
Instead of returning to her father Belle lives on her own. She runs into Dreamy at a tavern and gives him advice on a fairy that he believes he is in love with. In return he provides her with fairy dust and encourages her to join a team hunting the Yaoguai. The men on the expedietion tease her for thinking that she would find the habitat of the Yaoguai by reading. She suggests a wrong destination for them and they leave her, allowing her to go to the correct location of the monster. She runs into Mulan and causes the warrior to miss the chance to attack the Yaoguai.
Eventually the men from the expedition catch up to Belle and threaten her. Mulan saves her and decides that it would be best for both of them if they worked together. They eventually find the monster. Belle sprinkles the fairy dust upon it after it writes a plea for help in the dirt. The monster reveals itself to be Prince Philip under a curse.
After leaving Mulan and Philip, Belle is captured by Regina. She is jailed until the start of the Dark Curse.

Belle turned the page of the book in her lap, eyes scanning the page. The room was silent leaving her with no distractions to her reading. The brunette jumped as the tea kettle sounded off in the other room, one hand coming to rest over her heart in reaction. She chuckled at her own actions before marking her page and standing. Crossing the sitting room she walked down the hall to the kitchen. She took the kettle off the stove to prepare a cup of tea. Her gaze drifted over to the antique looking clock on the wall before back to her task.
Rumpelstiltskin had assured her he would be late in coming home that evening. She hoped he returned soon as the hour grew later. It was still a little odd to be married; not terrible, simply different. She rather enjoyed it, knowing that when she woke in the night he would be beside her. Despite the death of his son she noticed that he was making an effort to bond with Neal’s son. She wondered if Rumple would be partial to her asking Henry over for dinner one evening; she supposed as his step-grandmother that would be acceptable. She chuckled at the idea of herself being a grandmother before returning to her book, cup in hand.
