Things were tough at home. Not because there was anything wrong with her parents, but.. because there were just so many people around. With that many personalities, it was difficult not to clash with others. Penny decided to go for a walk in the woods since it seemed like such a nice day out.. and it would have been fine if not for the fact that she allowed herself to get lost in thought.. and therefore she got lost in the woods. She was sure though that she could figure out how to get back. And hey, who would know she was gone? She sighed and began to walk in the opposite direction of the way she came. She walked ten minutes, and then twenty minutes, and then a half an hour before she realized she was back at the same tree that she had started at thirty minutes ago. "Damn.." The girl muttered in a huff. She rested for a few minutes, sitting against a tree and finishing off a bottle of water that she brought with her. Okay Penny. Optimism. She could do this!
Just as she was getting herself pumped up to get going off again, the rain drops started to fall. "No.." Penny scrambled to her feet and looked to the sky, only to get pelted in the face by several falling drops of rain. "No no no!!" She squealed. Suddenly, without warning... it was like she was stuck in a waterfall. She squealed and started to run, wishing she would have brought a jacket. She had no reason to do so, but her mother still called out for her to wear one when she went out. Of course, she didn't listen..and now she was regretting it. She was lost.. and now, she was soaked with absolutely nowhere to go.

Rufio had been spending time in the woods, still growing accustomed to not being watched or heard every moment of every day. It was a liberty that even after twenty eight years of being here . . . he still hadn't entirely adjusted to. The day had started out nicely, but a sudden storm hit causing a massive downpour. Fortunately, Rufio had scouted the area and knew there was an abandoned cabin not far. He jogged through the rain, making his way thruogh it thougha abruptly stopped when he heard something else. Someone else running. He pulled out a dagger, his instincts kicking in to defend himself just in case.
One could always expect nothing less than strange things in Storybrooke. Normally Rufio wouldn't care about anyone else nearby, but this person was close, and on his route. He continued on his path and in the distance, saw a young girl. The rain didn't bother him much, but she was making a run for it. Was she going to where he was heading for shelter? "Hey!" He shouted out to her, hoping it was enough to make her stop running. "What the hell are you doing out here?" He demanded as he walked toward her. His eyes scanned their surroundings. It appeared she was alone. So either she was lost or . . . well, Rufio couldn't think of a better explanation as to why she was out here all by herself.

Seriously, how huge could these woods be? It felt like she was going somewhere but.. every time she turned around, everything looked the same! She was getting panicked, and she was certain that it was why she couldn't find her way. She heard someone shouting at her, and she spun around, flicking her soaked hair around since she twirled so quickly. "Hey!" she called out to the guy who shouted at her. But then he asked her what the 'hell' she was doing there. She placed her hands on her hips. "For your information I was just walking.. and.. I.." She paused."Actually, what the hell are you doing out here, guy-who-gives-strangers-attitude?" she asked in a huff.
She was freaked out, and honestly glad to see him.. but she didn't take well at all to getting snark from this dude. She breathed, realizing that the rain wasn't planning on slowing up any time soon, and he was the only person who likely knew where he was going. Her arms fell limp at her side, and her head hung down. "I'm sorry," her voice was a little louder than usual so he could hear her through the rain pouring down. "I'm just...really lost and I have no idea how to get home. I've never got lost in the woods before." She didn't want to admit that she was scared..but that was exactly the case.

Her snark was enough to make him suppress an eye roll as he just stared at her. She questioned what he was doing here, referring to him as a guy with attitude. "Well then find your own damn way out of here," he said as he began to walk off, hardly caring about her. But then, he heard her words of aplogy and it caused him to cease walking, keeping his back to her as she went on to say that she was indeed lost. And that she had never gotten lost in the woods before. He looked up for a second as if inwardly kicking his conscience because for some reason, he just couldn't walk away from her. He slowly turned his head to look her over, an unimpressed look on his face. "Wasn't real smart of you to come out here by yourself then," he said bluntly, obviously insulting her intelligence. "Follow me," he instructed. "There's a cabin up ahead that we can stay until the storm passes." He then turned his head back forward and started walking, not bothering to check if she would follow, since he was assuming she would. "Try to keep up," he added on sarcastically, though also meaning it. He didn't have time for stragglers . . . though deep, deep down, he knew he would slow down or stop for her. Tag @penny

Penny knew that she irritated him.. obviously because he started walking away. He then stopped when she explained herself, and told her to follow him to a place where they could ride out the storm. He then snapped at her to keep up. When he turned his back to her again, she started walking behind him, making a face and mouthing his words to mimic him. 'You're not smart, try to keep up, nyeh nyeh nyeh..' she mouthed silently to herself. She eventually allowed herself to follow alongside him, only holding back a couple of steps behind so he could lead the way. She stayed quiet for the most part, figuring that he wasn't exactly the small talk type of fellow. Oh well..neither was she! Well..she wasn't a fellow at all..but..the small talk thing.
Through the rain, she could make out the shape of the cabin. How had she never seen this before? She was pretty relieved though..she was starting to get pretty cold. "I didn't even know this thing was out here.." she muttered, mostly to herself. By the time they reached the cabin, her arms were wrapped tightly around herself. Luckily for her, she was wearing a long sleeved shirt, at least. Unluckily for her though, she was wearing denim shorts - which, were incredibly uncomfortable when they were wet. Not to mention it was freezing. "Hopefully it has a fireplace or soemthing.." Cause there definitely didn't look like there was electricity in it.. but then again, she could be wrong.

Thankfully, it didn't take them long to get to the cabin and she spoke of how she hoped there was a fireplace. Surely she was cold, judging from her state and the way she wrapped her arms around herself. He turned his head to look over her before his gaze returned to the door. "You lose your jacket along with your way," he questioned sarcastically, and somewhat rhetorically. The door was stiff but after a bit of shoving, he managed to push it over, stepping inside and look at his surroundings. When she entereed after him he closed the door behind her. Truth be told, he was glad to see it was still abandoned. He had assumed as much when he initially saw it but one couldn't be too sure. After quickly surveying the area, he made his way to the fireplace, using the wood that was near the area and started tossing it in before lighting a match to get it started. "Happy?" He asked with a bit of sarcasm once again. He then proceeded to take off his jacket, spreading it out on a chair near the fire so that it would dry. He continued to look around the place, going to the bathroom and grabbed the towel that was there, wiping his face with it, before picking up the other for the girl. He tossed it out into the main area, assuming she would see it and take it. He then went into one of the rooms and conveniently finding a blanket. Semeed this place was stocked up pretty good. Lucky for them. He put the towel around the back of his neck and picked up the blanket, going back to the main room. "Here," he said handing it to her. Tag @penny

You lose your jacket along with your way? That was a cheap shot. He knew very well she didn't have a jacket. Did her mom somehow put him up to this? She didn't even bother to respond, she merely rolled her eyes and looked away from him. When he pushed the door open, she stepped inside, and he closed the door behind her. Her eyes scanned the area. It was small, but it was cozy..she guessed. It was abandoned which made it creepy..but that much more awesome. Ah! There was a fireplace! Her companion lit the fire, and asked if she was happy. "Elated," she responded, moving closer to the fireplace. Her male counterpart began to explore the cabin, but she stayed put, getting warm.
She couldn't exactly take off her clothes to dry off because well..that would be awkward and probably a felony on someone's part. She looked to the side when she heard a piece of fabric hitting the floor. It was a towel. She dipped down to grab it, and she used it to start drying her hair. She had long, thick hair, and the water would likely nestle in there to continue to make her cold and wet. The hair needed to dry first. She was still cold though..but luckily the cabin was small enough to warm up quickly. There was extra help, though. The guy who escorted her her, held a blanket out to her. "Thanks," She took the blanket, and wrapped it around herself before sitting close enough to the fireplace to get warm, but not too close. She couldn't pull off the singed off eyebrow look.

She thanked him for the blanket and he silently went to a chair, sitting down and leaning back ocomfortably in it. He looked outside at the pouring rain, wondering how long it was going to last. Not that anyone would notice he was missing. He didn't exactly have a lot of friends in this place . . . which served him just fine. "Where do you live?" He asked. He knew that under circumstances, the quesiton could be considered creepy. But really, he was just trying to map out their route when the storm let up.
He wanted ot determine whether it would be quicker to take her through the town or staight to her residence. "Or did your parents teach you not to tell strangers," he added on with continued sracasm, taking a bit of a jab at the age she appeared to be . . . and her maturiy. She was probably only a few years younger than him, but he couldn't help it. He wasn't one to be polite or guard his words and think about whether they hurt someone's feelinsg. He was far too outspoken for that and being in her company was no exception to this trait of it.

When her new.. friend, asked her where she lived, she was about to tell him. Obviously if he was going to be a creeper, he would have been one by now. However, he had to continue by asking if her parents taught her to not tell strangers where she lived. "Actually, you know, they did.. but they also taught me never to go to creepy abandoned cabins in the woods with them too, but," She clicked her tongue against he roof of her mouth. "Looks like I didn't listen. Shame on me." She looked back at the fireplace and sighed. "I live on the outskirts of town. It was the old Orphanage.. it's all fixed up now and.. huge." She pursed her lips. It had always been huge..but since it had started being lived in by a relatively wealthy family rather than a spinster running an orphanage..it grew in size and grandeur.
"I'm Penny, by the way." It didn't matter if he told her his name, or not. She just figured that since the rain wasn't showing any signs yet of letting up that she might as well introduce herself. While she spoke, she realized that she was wearing a tank top beneath her long sleeved shirt. This was ideal for her, since she'd probably get warmer without the soaking wet sleeves shielding her skin from the blanket. She started tugging at her shirt, and she froze for a moment. "This isn't getting weird. I have another shirt on." She finshed pulling off her over shirt, and then she draped it on the arm of an old looking couch. When she did this, she revealed what appeared to be a tattoo that went around her bicep...but, thanks to being wet, the ink was running.

"Did they also tell you not to go into the woods alone?" He added, somewhat sarcastic, somewhat not. If they were talking about things that parents said, well then Rufio assumed that that was one of them. He didn't care much for parents; he hardly remembered what it was to have ones. She answered his question, saying that she lived in the outskirts in a large former orphanage. "Shouldn't be hard to find then," he concluded. Though Storybrooke was small enough that things could easily be found. Sort of. Odd. The town was small and yet at times, seemed to large. She intrduced herself as Penny and he silently looked at her, as if not botherng to give his name. But finally, he gave in.
"Rufio," he mumbled, almost annoyed with himself for giving her his name. But there it was . . . even if he didn't believe it was his true name. Things seemed to take a bit of an awkward turn as she began to lift off her shirt, though recognized it and stated she had a tank top underneath. Rufio remained unaffected. "Hey, you do what you gotta do," he said indifferently. Whether she wanted to strip down or cover herself up was up to her. Rufio wasn't going to do the same however. At least not right now. He was used to being under such conditions. His eyes remained on her, quickly taking notice of the leaking ink on her arm. A subtle smirk started to form on his features. "Nice tat," he said sarcastically, a hint of mocking in his voice. "Wherever you went, you should get a refund." More sarcasm, because clearly . . . it wasn't real and he was ridiculing her for that.

So, he was capable of saying more than a sentence! Even though, practically everything he said dripped with sarcasm. "I'm sure they would have told us to stay away from the woods alone, but since I have so many brothers and sisters, they probably just figure we'll team up and go everywhere together." Not really. That didn't happen. Some of her siblings had cliques like in a school, and others were loners like her. It definitely varied from teenager to teenager. When he said his name was Rufio, she gave a nod, acknowledging that she'd heard him.. but currently she was busy trying to get more comfortable. He didn't seem to mind that she was stripping down..which made her wonder..why exactly was he so cool with it? Maybe he had dozens of siblings too. She didn't say anything else until he called her out on her 'tattoo'.
She glanced at it, and noticed that it had smeared. Her eyes lifted and she looked at him, feeling her cheeks suddenly get warmer than the rest of her body all together. "I got bored in study hall.." She muttered before burying herself in to the blanket, not only to get warm and dry at this point, but to vanish. "I'm going to get one for real some day. I just.. haven't figured out what I want yet. They're permanent. It's gotta be perfect." That was only part of the reason.. but the other? She was afraid of needles. And? She didn't want her father to find out. To think of what he would say if his little girl came back with a tattoo! But she wouldn't admit that.. not one bit.

She had a lot of siblings then? He kenw what that was like, to be surrounded by so many people that could be considered family. Only, the Lost Boys had not been his family the same way his sister had. An infinite numbers of others could not replace his single sister. "How many is so many?" He inquired. Surely it wasn't that much. She then went on to say that she got bored in study hall, and that she was going to get a real one someday. "Maybe you should get a compass," he said sarcastically, a bit amused with his own jab at her for getting lost. And a compass would be a reminder to not leave home without one . . . maybe. Unless she was running away or something which didn't seem to be the case as she didn't have a bag with her. He then decided to poke some more fun at her, and seeing how serious she was about this tattoo business or if she was just doing it for . . . well, he had no idea for what else. "I know a guy who owns a parlor," he began to tell her. "He'll give you a good price. You know, whenever you think of something to get," he said, the last part of his words a bit mocking. Tag @penny

When Rufio asked how many siblings she had, she blinked. "Um, well..technically only fourteen." Only fourteen.. that would seem like a lot to normal strangers but by comparison, it was very few. "But my parents are fostering a lot more. There are one hundred and one of us all together." Needless to say, school was filled with her 'siblings'.Some were older.. some were younger.. and fourteen of them were all the same age. Was there even a word for that? "Some of them are older though, and have already moved out on their own." It was a house filled with love.. but also insanity. She had to get out on her own as much as possible..just to be able to breathe.
He suggested she get a tattoo of a compass. "Or maybe a map of the woods.." she mused coyly. "But that'd be too big for my arm, and I wouldn't be able to see it on my back. I guess there's no point in that one.." She gave him a sly grin. That grin was quickly wiped away when he suggested a tattoo artist that would give her a good price. She paled. It was getting too real. "Uh.. yeah! Sure. Just let me know where his shop is, and I'll go take a look.." Was she bluffing? She..didn't even know at this point.

Rufio looked at her when she commented that she only had fourteen siblings. "]Only?" He stated sarcastically. He would have gone on but she then revealed that she had over one hundred siblings. He stared at her, surprise flickering in his eyes for a moment. "Damn," he said with a slight shake of his head. "No wonder you were trying to get away. I would hate to think what dinner at your house is like." With that many kids running around. At least when he was surrounded by that many kids he had an entire island to get away from them. Even though he had been watched for practically every single step.
"Where from the Enchanted Forest are you exactly from?" He asked, wondering how two parents could foster that many kids, or if it was something they had taken to when coming to Storybrooke. She then toyed with the idea of getting a map of the woods. "Yeah you're a bit too small to get that done," he agreed, mocking her size a but. He noticed the way she paled at the mention of getting a tattoo and smirked. "Sure you will . . . " He said, clearly disbelieving her. "You're better off going to a craft store and getting more markers," he teased. "Maybe better quality permanent ones so they won't run as bad," he added on with an amused smirk still on his facee.

Penny didn't normally tell strangers about her family, or her past, but she didn't see a reason why Rufio should qualify as a stranger with how much time they were already spending together in this random little shack in the woods. When she told him how many children her family had fostered, he mused of how horrible dinner time would be around their house. She laughed, and nodded. "Oh yeah.. It's a little crazy. Some of the kids though are already out of the house..they're a bit older." He then asked what part of the Enchanted Forest she was from. "It was a little suburb area. I wasn't exactly a human back then." She pursed her lips. "Dalmations. My family and I were dalmations." She explained, feeling her cheeks go warm. It was one thing to talk about how huge her family was, but to admit that she had been a dog? It was kind of weird. "It took awhile to get used to walking on two legs." She admitted further.
The talk of tattoos was one that made Penny nervous..and unfortunately, it showed. Rufio caught on quickly, and even said - after agreeing that she was a bit small to get one of a map of the woods - that she should just stick with permanent markers. She wrapped the blanket tighter around her, and she pursed her lips. "I didn't say i'd never do it.. Besides, I think you're bluffing about knowing a guy, anyway. I don't see any tattoos on you.." Then again, they could be hidden..but she was hoping that he was all talk, too. Something told her though, that he didn't have a family like her's to question his decisions. "What's your family like?" She asked, after a moment of silence.
