Before the Curse Before the Curse David was born to Ruth and an unknown father. He is the twin of Prince James who was given to King George during a deal with Rumpelstiskin. When he was young he would often hear his parents arguing about his fathers drinking problem. Though this time his father was willing and had a desire to change for David's sake. He was going to go on a two week run and when he returned his alcohol dependency would be gone. David was thrilled by the prospect and waiting and on the fourteeth day looked for his father. Only to hear that his father lost his battle and got drunk on the fourteeth day and fell into a ravine and passed teaching David that some battles cannot be won.



Years after he becomes a sheppard but faces trouble from a warlord. He meets a woman named Joan. Who asks to stay the night. She teaches David to go against the warlord Bo Peep in order to attempt to save his farm from being taken over, Joan insists that David must defend himself against her and offers to train him. Though during their training David gives up when he is unable to defeat her. He insists that the most important thing is survival for him and his mother. Joan insists that surviving isn't living, and tells him of how his sister ran away rather then face her problems. She then tells him that he knows nothing of loss and is only afraid of it. David tells her the story of his father. Though after she still offers to train him and tells him that she'll be waiting in the barn the next morning. The next morning David goes to the barn in order to ask Joan to leave but is confronted by Bo Peep instead who has Joan's necklace. Bo Peep threatens him with no choice but to pay her. However, David chooses instead to fight taking on two of her henchmen and then after tricking Bo Peep corners her and ties her to a post. Using Bo Peeps staff he tracks down joan in a shed. After returning the necklace to her he explains that surviving means being able to move on from the life he doesnt want, and gifts her with his fathers steed for her journey no longer needing it as a reminder.



Shortley after he is approached by Rumplestiskin who offers him a chance to save his farm but it means taking the place of his brother who was slayed in battle. Becoming the prince in order to save the kingdom by slaying a dragon for King Midas. He agrees and slays the dragon. King Midas is so pleased that he offers his daughter Abigails hand in marriage though David now Prince James moves to reject. King George threatens him saying that if he does not marry Abigail that he will hurt his mother and the farm will be burned. David agrees to the arrangement and returns to tell his mother that he has to continue the ruse of being Prince James and cannot see her again. As a parting gift she gives him her wedding ring so that he can give it to the woman he loves. He returns to abigail and they take the scenic route to head towards King Midas' kingdom to begin the wedding plans.



During the ride to the kingdom however they come across a fallen tree. David notices that it was placed there and that this is an ambush. He hears Abigail scream and see's a theif robbing them and follows her on horse. He chases the theif down and wresstles them to the ground flipping the theif over only to discover that it is a girl. He lets down his gaurd and she hits him with a rock and gets away David yelling out that he will find her. He sets a trap outside her make shift home and traps her. He laughs at her perdicament and she dubs him Prince Charming asking if this is how he catches a woman, he explains aying that this is how he catches a theif. He asks for his jewels back and she explains she doesnt have them but sold them. She soon agrees to help him retrieve the jewels after he explains that he knows she is Snow White and threatens to turn her into the Queen Regina. On their ways he takes her vial of dark fairy dust and asks what she did to the queen. she explains that she ruined her life. When she requests a sip of water she knocks him out and escapes. David finds her in time to see her being caught by one of the queens gaurds. He saves her and the two head to the troll bridge. While there the trolls search through his things and discover that Snow White is wanting thinking they could get more for turning her in they attack the two of them and David is entrapped while Snow escapes. She returns using the dark fairy dust on the trolls in order to save David. As the two part ways Snow White tries on his mothers ring and then insists she's not the jewelery type. While she leaves David explains should she ever need anything he'd find her.



A few days later at the engagement party, David retreats to his room in a brooding mood. His behavior is noticed by King George. Who is aware that David doesn't love Abigail but insists that if he doesnt want his mother's farm burned to the ground he will marry Abigail. Despite George's warning David writes a letter to Snow white telling her that he is in love with her and that if she feels the same to meet him so that they can run away together and have a new life. She meets him but insists that he does not love him and that he should marry Abigail so he can have someone who does. Heartbroken David runs knowing that he cannot go through with the engagement as he doesn't love Abigail. He is soon caught by gaurds working for Abigail. She explains that she doesn't love him either and he questions why she is helping him. She takes him to a golden statue explaining that it is actually fredrick he was trapped accidently after being touched by her fathers curse. She explains that she has tried true loves kiss many times though it had never worked. She tells him of water from Lake Nostos that can return that which has been lost and he sets off on a quest to retreive water from this magical lake. As he is retrieving some he meets a Siren in the form of a gorgeous woman that rises from the water. Though David is not fooled by her beauty until she turns into the one person he longs for Snow White. Though almost seduced David breaks out of the trance when he relizes that this snow is no replacement for true love. He stabs the siren and escapes returning to Abigail with the water and saving Fredrick returning him to human form. Grateful they offer him a horse and he begins looking for Snow White coming to her newest hideout only to meet red riding hood who explains that she left to go break up his engagement to Abigail. relizing that King George had ruined everything he and Red Riding Hood escape just as King George's men arrive. The next morning they find the two and David escapes as Red Riding Hood stays to take care of the soldiers by shapeshifting into a wolf.

David soon comes across a nude soldier who stays that Snow White took his armor in order to attempt to murder the queen. David though he doesnt beleive his claims investigates and learns that Snow had recently been by to visit Rumplestiskin. He goes to see him and he explains that this curse that Snow is under can be broken by true loves kiss. He agrees to give. him a map to where Snow White will in exchange for David's cloak. David agrees and using the map finds Snow White. He attempts true loves kiss on her back it doesnt work and she knocks him out and binds him. The next day Jiminy Cricket comes and frees him from the binds explaining how can he expect her to love him when shes lost site of who she is. He takes the hit of an arrows that was meant for the Queen and explains to Snow White that he would rather die then watch her fill her heart with darkness. Touched at teh thought of him Willing to die for her they share a kiss and through it Snow remembers who she is and that she loves David though she knows him as James. They have a short reunion until King Georges men show up and Capture David.

David is brought out for Execution by King George until the evil queen stops it. Rather then let him die the Queen pays George the money he would of got from midas in exchange for David. She shows him a Cursed Apple that'll put Snow White under a sleeping spell and as he tries to chase after her the cell doors close. He later feels bodily pain and relizes that something has happened to Snow White. As he is being brought out for execution he fights off the gaurds and while attempting to escape from the palace comes across another who shoots a gaurd thats behind david and reveals himself to be the Huntsman. He gives David a map out of the palace as while as supplies and explains he gave up his heart so that Snow White could live and not to let his sacrifice be in vain. As David escape the palace though the Queen places him in the Infinite forest where he runs into Rumplestiskin. Rumplestiskin enchants his ring and explains that the closer he gets to Snow White the Brighter it will glow. He gives this to David in Exchange for David to hide something in the dragon Maleficent. After he sets out to find Snow White and he does using true loves kiss he releases her from the sleeping curse she was placed under and proposes to her. She agrees and the two of them set out to take back the kingdom from the Evil Queen and King George.



Though they faces many battles along the way Snow and David eventually got married. Though the Ceremony was interrupted by the Evil Queen who warned them that her real work was about to begin and that something was coming to make them all pay. A little later Snow and Charming learned that they were having a baby. They went to Rumplestiskin who was now a prisioner of theirs and learned that the Evil Queen was planning a curse and that their baby was the key they would have to send her through a magical waredrobe that Gepetto crafted for them out of an enchanted tree. When the baby came and the curse did David fought to get their child to the wardrobe and he was slashed by a gaurds sword in the process but passed out in time to see that the wardrobe had done what it was meant to and allowed their child to escape.

Snow and Charming had many other adventures together, they lost each other then found each other again. They took back the kingdom, got married, struggled against Regina, found out about the curse she was trying to come up with, they made a plan to build a wardrobe to send two people to another land and free them from whatever this curse was. Then there baby Emma was born, Charming took Emma and battled to get her to the wardrobe, putting her in before he passed out from the wound he had gotten earlier.



During the Curse



Then the curse hit sending everyone to a place called Storybrooke, where he was known as John Doe, the guy Regina found on the side of the road and brought to the hospital, where he stayed in a coma. He did wake up and met a women by the name of Mary Margret and couldn't understand why he felt different around her. His 'wife' came to get him and he went home with her. David would begin seeing Mary Margerat in secret often meeting at 7:15 am when he would come in to get coffee for him and Kathryn.



Secretly he was coming to see Mary Margerat though. They both admitted this to each other the day she came into the pet shelter with a hurt bird. The vet told her that the bird needed to be with its flock David warned her not to go as there was a storm approaching but Mary Margerat didn't listen to David and went anyways. David decided to follow and got there as she had fallen into a ravine pulling her up the two stayed in a abandoned cabin until the storm had passed it was there that the two of them shared a moment confessing that they love each other, but Mary Margerat told david to work things out with his wife. The next morning David went to the diner at 7:45 only to run into Mary Margerat. Knowing they couldn't hide how they'll felt about each other they kissed.

The two agreed to continue to meet in private until Valentines day. David had went into the pharmacy and purchased two cards Mr. Gold was there and was talking to him about it and David had tried to explain to him that they were for the same woman. The truth was that he had bought both Mary Margerat and Kathryn a card. Later that night he met up with Mary Margerat and accidently gave her the card that was meant for Kathryn. Only after opening it did he relize the mistake he had made, and though Mary Margerat tells him to go home to Kathryn he is unable to part with his feelings for Mary Margerat.



A few nights later Kathryn tells David that she has been accepted to a law school in Boston. Though David feels excitement for her e beleives Boston to be a great distance away. Kathryn asks David to come with him and start new in Boston with her. Unsure he goes to Mary Margerat who tells him to be honest with Kathryn and to tell her the truth. Knowing she is right he returns home but instead of being honest he tries to spare her feelings and simply tells her they arent right for each other but that she should pursue her dream in Boston. Somehow Kathryn finds out about David's affair with Mary Margerat and confronts her turning the town against her for thinking she is the one who destoryed their marriage. Later, She breaks up with David for lying to her.

On Miner's Day David is at the town festival when Emma comes up to him and tells him that Kathryn is missing. She arrests David as Mary Margerat see's him put into the sheriff car. David is interveiwed at the station all night. But explains that he knows nothing. After allowing David to go home he instead heads to the woods and begins wandering in a haze. looking for Kathryn. When Emma and Ruby find him he has a cut to his forehead and they take him to the hospital. Dr. Whale explains that something similar to this happened when David first woke up from the Coma and wandered off.



David goes to Mary Margerat telling her he beleives he might of killed Kathryn. Emma arrives in time to tell them that they had found a box containing Kathryns heart and it had Mary Margerats fingerprints on it. Later on David goes to regina to plead for mercy for Mary Margerat but receives none. David scared goes to seek out Archie in hopes to help him remember something beleiving that he could of potentially killed Kathryn. Through Glimpses though all he see's is him Saying you can't do this and who he belives to be Mary Margerat but is really Snow White saying watch me.

David then goes to see Mary Margerat at the jail and asks her if she killed Kathryn. Mary Margerat asks him to leave for his lack of faith in her. The next day he goes to Emma and explains that he handled it wrong and was confused. Thoug he beleive that Mary Margerat is innocent. He asks to see her and Emma tells him she doesnt want visitors. David takes the hint and leaves. It is later found out that Kathryn is alive. After Mary Margerat is released from jail and the charges are clear David finds her to apologize but Emma shoos him away.



David relizes that its time to leave storybrooke and sets out to do so. Telling Mary Margerat of his decision. As he is heading out of town however the curse breaks and he remembers that he is Prince Charming and heads back into town seeing mary margerat across the street he yells Snow to her and they are reunited in just enough time to see a cloud of purple smoke go through the town.



After the Curse



After remembering his identity as Prince Charming David and Snow set out for Emma their daugher. Though they are shocked when she says that she wants some time and space. Suddenly Archie informs them that Dr.. Whale has formed a mob and is headed to Regina's house. Stopping him from killing her they lock Regina up for her protection as well as the towns. They then go to confront gold. That night they learn that Mr' Gold has released a Wraith to kill Regina. They try to get rid of the Wraith by sending it back to the Enchanted forest but as Emma is pulled into the vortex Snow goes after her and though Charming tries to he is too late as the vortex closes and Snow and Emma are sent to the Enchanted Forest.



The next day David goes to talk to Regina about the vortex and she explains that she has no magic left to open it. The Town turns to find for answers when a mysterious line reveals that no one can leave the town or they forget who they really are. David unable to find the words to calm everyone turns his attention into finding a way to bring his family back by going to Mr. Gold. In exchange for staying out of each others way he gives David a potion and with that he is lead to Jefferson. He pleads with Jefferson to help him Bring his family back but Jefferson refuses though he does let him know that the Enchanted Forest still exists. He is Snapped back to Reality by Ruby and the two of them go to the line. David stops everyone from leaving town and calms the situation.



David continues to search for a way to bring back Emma and Snow and eventually gets a good lead on it when the drawves find diamonds which can be made into fairy dust. That night they are celebrating when David see's Henry drinking coffee he reassures him that they are going to get Emma and Snow back. After he urges Henry to get some cocoa instead Albert Spencer in this land King George. Tells him that he isnt fit to lead the town and he is going to make the whole town see that. He later finds Billy's mangled corpse and though Ruby aka Red Riding Hood. Beleives she is Repsonsible David helps her to remember who she really is. They later track down Albert just in time to see him burning Jefferson's hat. David beats him and is just about to shoot him in the head when Ruby gets him to stand down.



A few nights later Henry wakes up screaming having nightmares and it is soon learned that he is with someone in those nightmares Aurora. They discover that he is in the Neatherrealm a land that is burning with fire and that he can communicate with Snow and Emma through Aurora. David beleiving it is too dangerous for Henry to go back in there convinces Gold and Regina to put him under the sleeping curse instead. It is there that he is able to relay information about the Squid ink in Rumplestiskin's cell. When Snow and Emma make it back David is awaken by Snow thanks to true loves kiss. They spend a few intimate moments together for the next few days. Happy to be back with each other until one night David and Emma go to the town line to see an injured Belle, Hook and an unknown stranger who has crashed into storybrooke. At the hospital David is amoung those who help to figure out who the stranger is and they find him out to be a man named Greg Mendell. After dealing with that situation the next morning Gold visits the Apartment and tells Emma that the favor she owes him is time to be paid and David warns him that should anything happen to Emma or Henry that he would be devasted. Gold assures him that no harm will come to them.



While Emma is out of town David and Snow learn that Cora is holding something on Hook's ship and goes to investigate. They find out that she brought Anton who was a giant in the Enchanted forest to Storybrooke and Anton beleives David to be his brother James and attacks him. After learning that Antons beleives this David and Snow set out to convince him that he isn't but they find that Regina has returned him to his Giant form. After causing a rampage David offers to give up his own life to Anton. But just as he is about to Anton falls into a giant made hole and David works to pull him to safety. Now knowing that David isnt James he reveals that he has a bean that can be grown into a feild of magic beans and David relizes that they can be used to return to the Enchanted Forest though Snow doesnt want to leave Emma David reassures her that she will be fine with Henry in Storybrooke.



As their daughter is in Manhattan David and Snow set out to find the dark one's dagger learning that Cora wants it and though Cora. David goes to the Docks when Mr.Gold returns after being stabbed by Hook and helps take him to the pawn shop. There he and Neal attempt to protect the shop but are only able to for a short time. David learns that Mary Margerat has given Regina a candle that can kill Cora and they race back to the shop but arrive after Cora had already been killed. The next few days he tries to help Mary Margerat from the guilt until Emma says something to him and Mary Margerat sets out for a trip to the woods wanting to be alone. At the news of August Booths reappearance David and Henry join them and at the Sheriff Station learn that August was trying to tell Emma something before he was killed the blue fairy arrives though in time to turn August back into a Child as he was in the Enchanted Forest.



One Day David arrives and finds that the bean feild was destoryed. Beleiving that Regina was the one who tried to stop them from being able to return to the enchanted forest David, Mary Margerat and Henry go to her office only to find her missing. David and Mary Margerat go to Mr.Gold and with his help are able to locate Regina. Though they meet Emma back and home only to find Neal had been suppposively killed by Tamara. They also learn that a failsafe had been activated through Regina and head to the mines David watches as Regina and Emma are able to stop it but Discover that Henry has gone missing in the process. Upon Discovering that Greg and Tamara have Henry they watch as they take him through a portal. When Hook returns they find out that he has a bean and together. David, Snow, Mr. Gold, Regina, Emma and Hook set out to go after Henry. Learning of the place that they are heading to is a land called Neverland.



Neverland Arc As they arrive in Neverland tempers are shown to go while once Gold disappears to start his search on his own as Snow and Regina argue. Hook attempts to stop David from stepping in But David punching him and they begin to fight as well. Emma tries to break up the fight but when unable dives off the boat and is knocked out. David goes in after her and brings her back on board, They relize that in order to save Henry they were going to have to put their differences aside.



During a battle with the Lost boys David is grazed by an arrow coated with Dreamshade and when his strength begins to deplete he is told that he has days maybe weeks left by Hook. He is pushed to tell his family but doesnt as he wants them focused on saving Henry. A few Days later he and Hook set off to find what david beleives is a sextant for reading the star map that they had found in a camp that was once home to Neal. Though when they arrive he learns that Hook had brought him here to Cure him of the Dreamshade. Hook warns him though that should he drink the water he will not be able to leave Neverland. Seeing it as a small price David drinks the water. upon returning to Camp he kisses Mary Margerat Passionately.



It is later revealed though at the echo caves that David can't leave the island. As he tries to talk to Mary Margerat she snaps at him. Though says that she would stay with him. Later after learning that Mr.Gold can create an Elixer to permanently heal David. When they return it is revealed to David and Mary Margerat that Henry had given up his heart to Pan and While Mary Margerat, Emma and Regina set off to find Pan. David suggests they regroup at the jolly roger. As they trapped the shadow earlier Neal is Able to release Mr.Gold who was placed into Pandora's box and set off for home. Upon returning Mary Margerat and David spend some time time together and Mr.Gold presents them with a Potion that is able to completely heal David. After taking it he suggests that they start to have another baby. Until Neal is seen sitting alone after trying to talk to Emma. David sets off and finds Emma to talk to her, Emma instead tells him that Henry hasnt been acting like himself. David tried to tell her that Regina is Henry's mother too and that Henry is fine. He then gives her a ride to Grannies. But, another problem occured when Mother Supirior is found killed by the shadow. Unsure of how the shadow was released they agree that they should open Pandoras box and talk to Pan whom Mr.Gold had trapped in there. While watching from the town line they find out that Henry had switched Bodies with Pan.



David, Hook, Neal and Tinkerbell set off to get the Dark Fairies wand but end up facing the shadow whom Tinkerbell ends up destorying for good by trapping it in the candle that Neal made and burning it. Once the shadow is Destoryed Mother Superior returns to life and hands them the wand Hook, Neal and David return to the Pawn shop and when Mr. Gold switchs the bodies back they race off to find Henry who they find at the clocktower. Regina however passes out when reading a scroll that would Undone the curse that Pan had cast capable of sending them back to the Enchanted Forest. Peter Pan freezes them and along with others David is forced to watch as Mr.Gold kills himself and Pan. But, it's already too late as the curse is Closing in from all sides the only thing that they can do is send Emma and Henry off and return to the Enchanted Forest. Which they do watching Emma drive off as the curse engulfs them and they return,.

David was coming out of the sheriff station and saw Hook come out of Grannies he had been meaning to talk to hook after everything had happen this past year and his relationship with Meeting Hook. Things have changed between them. He started towards the docks. Hook wasnt an idiot he had probably noticed himself being followed. Luckily it was by David and no one else. As he approach the ship he called out loud enough for hook to hear. " Permission to come aboard. Mate" He laughed a little and then made his way onto the ship walking up to hook he could feel the breeze blowing across his face and smell the salt from the sea below.



He looked at hook and noticed something was wrong. It didnt take David long to figure out what it was. He put a hand on hooks shoulder and smiled. " they're going to be fine Killian and they will return both of them" He walked over to the dock and looked out part of him saying that for hooks sake. Part of him for his own sake. David was scared Emma was out there in the enchanted forest with Neal. If she was still alive. David had lost her once before and now he had again.



He looked at the ship and noticed some chipped paint then looked to killian. " Looks like your ship could use a fresh coat of paint." david had never been a sailor he was a Sheppard in his life the life he had before emma. before the curse. Before Snow. It seemed like ages ago that was who he was. He was a Prince now. a leader and married to his true love. It was everything he could have possibly wanted.
