“Of course.” The man really seemed to be distraught. Davids thoughts immediately went to wanting to make it better somehow, to make him feel just a little less distraught and Hook just gave him the most wonderful opening for that. In all his life he would have never guessed he’d one day trust Captain Hook with both his children, but even less so he expected the pirate to be wonderful with kids of all ages, like his son and grandson, but both boys kind of adored him for different reasons.
“I’m not so sure about Neals silence. Maybe you should bribe him with a good cuddling.” With a grin and not accepting no for an answer, he handed his baby son over to the pirate, mindful of the hook until Neal was happily settled in the leather clad arms, cooing softly up at the man.
“We’re all in private. Mary Margaret and Emma are out and I am under house arrest. Remember when I told you I had a twin brother? It’s better if I stay where people know where I am, in case my brother is among the resurrected as well and… wreaking havoc. Apparently we’re concerned people might think that’s me.”

Had he not suspected it before, the pirate going to his knees next to him, a curse and explanation ready on his lip, it was then that he would have known. It was the spell. It was what made them do it, not their own volition. He knew it. But that didn’t exactly help the pain. If he was lucky, Hooks shot went straight through. If he was unlucky the bullet was still firmly lodged in his body, potentially injuring him further. That was the one thing they would have to eventually take care of, preferably in the hospital.
“I know.”, he pressed out, pain so evident in his voice, but it was still surprisingly strong, making him think the bullet could have missed major organs or it went straight through. Or both. To his surprised Killian started – stripping.
“I think now is not the time to go Full Monty on me, Hook.” But of course he understood. He let Killian manipulate him so his head lay almost comfortably on the leather jacket. “We have a kit in the other room, but that’s it. And my phone… is at home.” This day of all days he had left it at home as he just couldn’t bring himself to take the phone away from Neal, who was happily playing with it. Now that would maybe prove to be a bad idea. “Killian, you need to check my back. You need to see if the bullet has gone through.”

“Don’t say that too loudly, Hook. Your own girlfriend happens to take after me quite a bit. Won’t want her to think you’d prefer her mother, would we.” He chuckled, but secretly, he did not disagree. He loved his son the way he was and his daughter. They were both simply perfect, both of them.
“Honestly? He’s more likely to try and keep you here than me. He somehow adores you. I’m just Dad. I’m just always there. You’re not.” And he was shiny and always nice to him. David had an idea why the baby loved Killian. He did not mind, though. He was quite happy about his son getting along with the man who might stick around for good. His mother, Ruth had said True Love followed her ring and well her ring played a part in Hooks and Emmas love story as well. He’d not be surprised by it anymore.
“Come on then, let’s go. One day, mate, I tell you, your kid will be all over their awesome grandpa, though!” He chuckled as he walked to the door.

He had tried before and before to his surprise Killian had passed every single test Charming had thrown at her. But it was time, at least in his mind. It was time to really question him, from man to man in a quiet environment. Of course Charming knew his daughter called a lot of shots in this relationship, which was another thing he had to talk to Hook about. While he wanted his child to be happy, a big part of her happiness would include his and as such, he had to just talk about it. His wife wouldn’t even get the idea, he feared. For that, he chose to seek Killian out on his ship. He might not be the quest the pirate would want to see on there at the time, but he had to endure him. Once downstairs close to the quarters of the pirate, or former pirate, he knocked.
“I would have asked for permission to come aboard, but you weren’t on deck. I came here to talk to you, H… Killian. About your relationship with my daughter. And before you tell me how old school I am for doing that: Let’s just talk. You want the best for her, but so do I.” He was one of the very first people to hold her in his arms, almost gave his life for his baby and he’d do it again. For her, he’d do anything. Even teach this pirate how to be a prince.

Prince Neal was crying his little lungs out. He was sick. Not only was he sick, he was also teething and everything else that could be wrong with a baby boy. Charming patience was quickly diminishing, but it was born from how helpless and alone he was. Emma and his wife, out of town for long overdue bonding – and away time in case of Snow, while the men stayed in Storybrooke. Well that was what he had from that: A sick little baby boy and the urge to cry himself. Neal was swatting helplessly at his painful ear. It would be time for his medicine soon again, but he hated it. And then he would want to gnaw on Charmings hand and all, though it would not help. He needed help. He really needed… of course! He just knew the perfect help: His son adored the man he was about to call and hell even his hook was very welcome right now. Charming picked up the phone. He barely waited for Hook to even pick up as he yelled over his sons desperate cries:
“Please, get here, Killian. PLEASE. I need you. I need you so much right now.” Woha, no that sounded a bit strange. “I mean Neal does… can you bring food and go to the pharmacy on the way? Ask them for some soothing tea of something for babies, please and bring your hook. You have to bring your hook. You really, really have to bring your hook, no prosthetic hand or anything, I need this hook!!! I need you!!”

The fact that he never even thought this was possible, didn’t make it any easier on anyone, yet David had to keep it all together somehow, to be the leader the people deserved. They were probably scared as well, confused and they had to look to someone now. To whom if not their royal family? They had to navigate them through this and through the pain they were all feeling. Suddenly things felt hollow and meaningless to him once more. He had his love to Snow, but his daughter wasn’t with them, neither was their grandson. Were they okay? He missed them, terribly even, but there was nothing he could do about it. Apart from taking care of those they loved. Despite his daughters denials, he knew that one of those people had to be no other than the pirate Captain Hook. He might be unwilling to consider him family, but Emma cared for him and he cared even more for Emma, it would seem. He did deserve someone to speak to.
“How are you holding up, Hook? Are you okay? You did take quite the beating from the shadow.” And he did it for them, for Emma. Even though he might not be ready to accept that anything could happen between the pirate and his baby girl, he had seen what this man had done for them. “You were holding your ribs.”

With peoples loved ones rising from the dead, Mary Margaret and he had their hands full trying to help people. His wife was currently out, helping perhaps one of the dwarves to deal with their resurrected loved one – he thought he even remembered having encountered the dwarf called Stealthy once. In any case he was left at home with their baby boy, to watch him. It was better for the town to know exactly where David was at what time. His brother could have been resurrected as well and since he was potentially dangerous and his identical twin it was better if at least Emma knew at all times where her father was.
He was bouncing his son in his arms as he heard the knock. The babies fuzzing stilled as soon as his eyes landed on the leather clad man and specifically his hook. Both his children seemed to have a thing for this man, but in Neals case, David knew it was probably because of how shiny the leather and the hook were. And it helped that Hook was generally nice to him. He had no reason to doubt the man. The mans face, though, spoke volumes. How did he not notice it earlier? While his face was stoic, his eyes told stories with how many emotions could dance in them. David had a bit of an idea what could be wrong.
“So someone from your past is back alive? Your brother?”

Over the time Hook had proven himself to him, actually even before he knew it was Hook, but that was another matter entirely. What mattered was, that he could slowly trust this man with his daughters’ heart. The half assed attempts of talking to him about his intentions have always resulted in Killian passing every single test with flying colors, once even managing to insult David in the process and that certainly had the man not pissed, but feelings a lot better about all of this. It was more of a silent understanding. Hook was proving himself more and more, but this night had another reason, as well.
He liked Killian, even liked spending time with him, they have come to some sort of friendship, but he was also worried. He had his heart pulled out recently and David hoped to find out through this if he was okay. He certainly hoped so, but if something was wrong, he could maybe see it. And Emma would, since she spent a lot of time with him, for obvious reasons. He did not want to think about what they were doing when she was alone with him at Grannys. Once he heard the knock, David rushed to the door.
“Hook, come in. I’ll be right finished. A certain someone just wants a proper goodbye kiss.” And that was not Emma. He moved to the crib with his son, kissed his forehead and grinned. “Watch out for your mother and sister.” Then it was time to focus on the pirate. “Are you ready, mate?”

David had been blind to it. Killians invitation surprised him to no ends. Why would he need to talk to him? At the docks? He sounded so urgent, so serious, it was possible about his beloved daughter. Someone else, though, made the right observations. And then he did feel like he was blind to it all. If the observations were indeed correct. He could not be sure about it, after all. A part of him dreaded it, which caused him to try and delay getting to the docks as much as possible, a part of him though felt happy, giddy even to hear what Hook had to say.
David had turned the thought around in his head over and over again. What would be the pros and cons of this? Should he consent to this? But in the end his decision was easily made. He looked back at what this man endured for their family, what he had done for Emma and Henry specifically and what he had been willing to sacrifice and he knew, with all his heart, this was the man for her, pirate or not. That title would have to go though. At least officially, no, especially officially. It was about damn time and once he realized this could be it, he knew he should have done it way sooner. He grinned at the pirate.
“Good evening Captain Jones. Or should I say Admiral. I am not sure which rank you’re okay with, but I’m sure you earned both over and over again by now.”

The recent events were more than concerning to basically everyone with half a heart. People reported suddenly feeling like a passenger in their own body. They could no longer control what they were doing, despite begging and screaming in their heads to stop. They tried so much to fight it, yet usually it seemed like they were failing. Nobody could fight it yet, resulting in a few new graves at the graveyard and new clients for Archie. At least they still had him. David dreaded the moment he would become the target.
He was still in the station, still looking through files, to somehow find the odd person out. Maybe that way they could finally identify who this was, but what were the chances? Even the Snow Queen was clever enough to fake her identity, why would this new villain be any less good or bad at what they were doing? He still didn’t get why they had to be good at faking their identities of all the things? Why could there not be an extremely dumb villain? Disney style. But nah, they had to have brains.
He was currently arranging a new pile of ‘dead ends’ when he heard someone come in. Funny how he could tell by the steps alone who it was.
“Hook, great you’re here, I could really…” As he turned around he spotted the gun pointed at him. What the hell was going on? How could he pull a gun on him? What was going on in his brain? “Hook, I’m sure we can talk…” He never got to finish his sentence. The bang cut him off. He hadn’t had time to brace himself for the impact, yet time seemed to stand still for just a moment as his eyes locked on Killians. There was nothing, no movement of any sort, no pain yet. Just those usually expressive eyes turned cold and void of all emotions, yet he felt the storm behind them, the raging emotions. This bastard! Finally thoughts were knocked out of him as the bullet pierced his chest. The impact threw him backwards to the floor, yet no blissfull nothingness engulfed him. There was pain, blinding pain and he was still awake.

Ruth (mother), Unnamed (father), James (brother), King George (adoptive father), Snow White (wife), Emma (daughter), Neal (son), Henry (grandson) .:Occupation:. formerly working at the pet shelter, currently Sheriff .:History:. When David was born, he was born a twin, but he was already part of a deal: His parents gave his brother away, in order to protect their farm. After his fathers untimely death, he was the man on the farm. David tried to take care of everything at once, but avoided conflict so he would not inflict harm or any form of pain upon his beloved mother. That was until a certain young lady came into his life: Anna. She helped him man up and get rid of an oppressor, finding courage and skill on the way. With such he kept leading the farm until destiny struck. His brother had been killed, leaving his brothers adoptive father needing for an heir to help save the kingdom and somehow get to gold. David had to agree. To his own surprise he slay the dragon his brother should have slayn and was promised to marry the daughter of King Midas. Originally David thought he’d marry for love, but it seemed Destiny had other ideas about that and in order to protect his mother, he had to agree.
Until he met his True Love (that fact still unknown to him then). Snow White was a bandit then, but in truth the daughter of a king, banished from her own kingdom through her revenge seeking step mother Regina. His adoptive father proved to be the biggest obstacle for them: Wanting Charming to marry Princess Abigail instead of following his heart to marry the woman he had fallen in love with. In the end they overcame those obstacles, one of them even being the seven dwarves stepping up as big brother types. David arranged himself with them and helped to reclaim the kingdom, to bring a kind and benevolent leader to them through the princess. That in turn he himself would become a leader, was nothing he had expected, but he was okay with his new role. He was the Queens husband and through that the King, he knew he had to act the part. But for the time being that part included marrying the love of his life and finding out about the new life they created together. Charming – a name Snow had given him – was overjoyed to learn of the child they were expecting. Unlike his wife, he initially had no doubt about her. She would grow up to be a beautiful and good young woman, they would raise her the part. But he agreed to help his wife in her quest to ensure their daughters goodness, by given her dark potential to another child. Perhaps this was the worst decision of his life. And the beginning of the worst and best: The day his daughter was born, he held her in his arms and had to give her away, to protect her and the people. He almost lost his life then, gladly giving it for his beloved baby girl Emma. As he watched her disappear he thought he’d never see her again, how wrong he was. The dark curse cast by the Evil Queen swept over the lands and dragged them all to another realm, a realm in which he still had to fight for his life and where he was finally reunited with his love and his daughter. And their family got eventually expanded with a grandson and another child. And the rest, is history as they say.
| ~ • ~ | Sample Post | ~ • ~ |
David stared that the child in his little crib. He seemed to be so happy, so peaceful, entirely oblivious to whatever was happening around him. Right now a bomb could probably drop right next to them and his son would still smile happily at the plush sheep he had just recently been gifted. It was a blessing to be allowed to watch the baby grow up. He was growing so fast, David still felt like he was missing half of it. He probably was, given the fact that he had work and villains to defeat and now even more worries. Those worries extended to new parts of the family he would have just recently rejected to even be close. Now he was almost tempted to pick Neal and his sheep up and just dump them in the other mans arms so he would stop pacing. He had never tried it, but for some reason he thought giving Hook a baby to hold would effectively freeze him in place and slow his worrying steps down to rocking steps in order to keep him calm. When the hell did he start to trust him enough to seriously consider that idea? Oh right, after him promising to give up everything to protect his not so baby-like baby girl.
“Hook, sit down.”, he mumbled, not really expecting the man to listen to him anyway. Not without a serious threat. “Hook. Stop. Or I’ll call Emma!” Emma would know how to handle him. He was in essence hers after all. “Or I’ll make you change Neals diaper!” That would probably not work at all. While he was perfectly capable of using the hook as a replacement of the missing hand most of the time, he still didn’t think it would be a good idea to use it around a babies sensible behind. Neal was squirming so much, even Charming had trouble not to hurt him.
