Liam knew he probably visibly paled as Killian spoke about how numb his left hand felt. Of course the hand felt numb, it was gone; it was not the hand Liam was worried about, it was the wound he was left behind. For now he knew Killian might not even make the connection or fully understand it, while he was in this state of shock. Telling him could be quite useless. He would have to break the news to him later. For now saving his life had to be Liams priority. He would not lose his brother, no matter how long they had to stay in this room, fighting for his life, he’d not move from his side.
“Very bad, I’m afraid, Killian. Very bad.” He didn’t believe in lying, his brother had to know it was bad. “You… you’re not over the worst yet, far from it. P... please don't die, Killy” He might die from it, Liam had no illusions about that, but he couldn’t voice it, only his concern for his brother. Rum would be the first then, to numb him. He did not give it to him himself. One of the men held Killians head up and let him drink while Liam and another could take care of the wound. He was surprised how easily they all fell into a certain rhythm, preparing what they would need to do whatever they could to safe Killian.
“Killian, concentrate on me, okay? You tell me if something is wrong, tell me everything.” He slipped his hand into Killians remaining, hoping that could help him a little. Then Liam nodded to the others to start treating the wound. He watched in horror, hand now placed on Killians chest to hold him down with others, as they pulled out a tooth from the maimed flesh. He could not tear his gaze away as torn flesh was cut off, bone formed and finally the wound cleaned. But it was about to get worse. They left it to Liam to tell his brother of the next step. “We have to cauterize the wound now.”

This was so typically Killian, but he knew, he knew he always loved Elizabeth like a sister, had done so for a very long time. They basically grew up together, both being allowed to be children more than Liam had been, he had always felt the responsibility for Killian, yet never regretted it, because he loved his little brother ever since he held the squirming infant for the first time. He could never regret anything with him. Liam smiled at him, still nervous about all of it. What if for once Killian was wrong? What if for once he misinterpreted this?
“How do you know, Killian? How do you know all of that?” He must have a clue as to why, an idea as to why he thinks Elizabeth loved him. Of course with him it must be easy, he had known him all his life, from the day he was born he had known Liam as a steady presence in his life, never faltering in who he was or his worry about him. Of course he’d know what he felt, he was probably a very open book to him. But Elizabeth? How did he know about her?

Liam found himself confused at the boys words. Could it be that he genuinely wanted to help them? What boy would to that? None he knew. Boys were selfish, even he and Killian were at that age. It was for their survival. Unless he was very compassionate. Unless he thought they would give him something very valuable in return. Liam finally sat up properly, still feeling weak in his body. It was the way the boy said it was his pleasure that finally convinced him that there must be more to his motivations than just to help them. Maybe it was good old payment then.
“Killian is right, that is not why you helped us. What is it you want? We have gold.” Yet would gold help him here? It didn’t look like civilization has made it to this land; his clothes didn’t suggest it either. What could the boy want? Why was he on this island anyway. Maybe not by choice. “If you seek passage away from here, we will gladly provide it. Or whatever you desire, as long as we have it.” Their choices were still limited, but whatever Killian or him had to pay him, they would give him, he knew. Still, something made him think he would not at all like what the boy wanted from them. Liam leaned against his brother now, stronger, but still grateful to have his brothers support.

“They will get their freedom again and a just ruler.” I might take time, but Liam was sure of that. It was up to them now, to all of them to use whatever power they had left to regain the throne for her parents. And as such the alliance forged with their kingdom now was valuable, as was the one forged in Arendelle. “Let me just phrase it one way: A storm is brewing, Emma. A storm is brewing for her and it might be a matter of time before it hits, but it will.” It would all be done thoroughly with as little collateral damage as possible. The most scheming was done by people around them, not by them themselves, so Regina would not be able to follow it back to them. One day he’d see his wife be crown princess again.
“Then, tell me about yourself, princess. I know a few things about princess Emma, but next to nothing about Emma to woman.” He was quite aware of how different the two concepts were. She was a princess, but the princess was a representative for the public, not necessarily the woman before him. “What do you enjoy doing?” He hoped whatever it was, they could provide her with, so she could be happy at their home, however restricting it was.

Whatever this world held, they’d tackle it together. Maybe it was just a few hours, a few days in this world, in Killians presences, but they’d make the most of it. Hopefully their makeshift rings would be enough to keep them together in the afterlife now. They belonged together now and then and nothing should part them anymore. It wasn’t fair. Maybe they’d have their happy ending, maybe fate worked as mysteriously as to give them this chance, this happiness at being together again.
“Aye, we should embrace it. This world is foreign and uncommon, but with a little help, I am sure we can feel at home.” And help they would have. Killians blonde love proved that already and Killian would help them as well. They walked, Liam enjoying the air, while it was still smelling so differently. There were flowers here, lots of them, he noticed. It smelled so good. Funny how this was the one place where the air smelled most foreign and familiar at the same time.
“We shall just have to try it then, Elizabeth. Either way, this might be our only chance to give in to those bodily pleasures. We should embrace it, for the moment might pass sooner than it came.” As such they shouldn’t even bother spending much time in unknown places. Who cared where they were as long as they had each other? Wasn’t that all they needed? Each other and the knowledge of Killians safety.

A strange sensation coursed through his body. It felt different from when the pain of the poison overtook him, brought him to his knees and made him think there was no way he could ever survive that. How had he? Was he not supposed to die from that? He heard something, his brother calling out to him or just speaking? Killian was here, so there was no way this was the afterlife, because his brother was very, very alive. What else could it be? As he regained strength rapidly he noticed the way Killian held him, almost frantically fingers skipped over a spot on his neck as if trying to coax him to wake.
“That’s Captain to you.” He pressed out as he struggled to sit up. With Killians help that was relatively easy, though. As soon as he sat, his eyes fell to someone else: The boy they met earlier. What was he doing here? Had he helped Killian? Probably. He knew about the plant. He hadn’t lied to them he had warned them and Liam had been stupid enough not to listen. He should have listened to the resident. How would his king know better than a boy who lived here, damn it? How could he be so blind?

How about a little What if Scenario? Like what if he had told Killian Jones and Liam of the price, making the brothers stay in Neverland and well obviously they owe him.

Liam barely heard the yell as he had turned to help an injured sailor to sit on a turned over crate. He had intended to inspect the wound no matter what, but he cared for his crew. The injured man would remain where he sat unless something very severe happened. With a good amount of people unable to swim, he had to see who it was. From the distance it could have been Killian and that boy could swim, he was very sure of that since he had observed his swimming lessons with their mother, even joined in to motivate the little tyke back then. Then, though, all hell broke loose. He saw as his brother, a good swimmer, disappeared from the surface. All alarmbells in his mind began to ring. What he feared could be attracted had been attracted! Sharks in the water. And one of them got Killian already! Damn it. Liam ran to get as close as possible to where Killian had just been released again. He heard his brothers call. To his own surprise it was calm, collected as if he was just casually calling for them to get him out.
“Get him out!” he barked at the men, but it was too late. The shark got him again. He braced himself for the unimaginable pain of seeing Killian disappear again, but it didn’t come. All he saw was the water turn a little darker and then as if time slowed down his brother had the rope in his hand and the men, almost as frantic as Liam to get Killian back, pulled. They pulled him aboard almost straight into Liams arms. This way he was the first to assess the damage done on his brother: His hand was gone. Instead he saw torn flesh, bone and a lot of blood. Now, of all the times, he was glad of his training. He undid his belt and tied it around Killians upper arm as tightly as possible.
“Killian? Can you hear me? Where does it hurt, baby brother? Where does it hurt, tell me.” He still motioned for the men to help him carry him down, into the Captains quarters. As if on cue the man, who used to come in rank after him and Killian started to bark orders to get ready to set sail. Liam only left Killians side to ask for someone to fetch the medicinal supplies and generous amounts of rum. “Killian, rum or sleeping? This is gonna hurt.”

“Back then I haven’t endured 300 years in a sea monsters clutches, though. That takes a toll on people” But he had been here for a while now, this was not the case. This was something else and with every passing moment, he felt it more and more. And still, despite having slept for so long, he really really wanted to sleep some more. This could not be normal, Killian was right. And had it been the Leviathan, he would have had it immediately after getting free, but apart from the initial weakness, nothing happened then. This had nothing to do with him. Yet he claimed it for his brother… for his overly worried brother. Or not overly maybe. He seemed downright panicked in a way. To the point where he wanted to say please, almost even beg. That was something new entirely.
“Fine.” What other choice did he have? His brother was really worried he could not deny that fact. He had to allow him to get some peace of mind – even when deep down Liam felt there was none to be had. Whatever they would say, it would not be good news. He pushed Killian a little, signaling for him to get up, to lead the way, but as soon as he tried to get up, he felt the weakness deep in his bones again. With a heavy, painful sigh, he still pushed himself up. He’d manage that way at least. He was no invalid after all. But he had to speak to Killian about this, so he made his way out of the diner – not without nodding to Granny, hoping she’d understand it meant he meant to pay once he returned. Outside he could speak more freely. He felt a bit better too with the fresh air in his lungs. “What do you remember of mothers death?”

Even after those kisses he could not bring himself to pull away. Instead he hugged his now wife close, making sure she was enveloped in his arms, hopefully feelings save and loved in them as he had sworn to make her feel in his mind. To think she had given her life because she could not take how they had changed, it was the horror to him, it still made him feel so guilty, as did what happened to his brother. She spoke of so many changes on him, cause by his death probably. All of that could have been prevented, had he just listened to him, had he been less… stubborn, less of a Jones that day. Slowly he broke even the embrace.
“Let’s walk a little, my love.” They should find some place to stay, together. He had gotten some ideas through his previous conversation and had by now confirmations that a certain place in town would allow them to stay there once they told them Emma or Killian sent them, whyever that was. He’d ask either of them eventually. “If this last, Liz… do you still want kids?” Could they risk it? They were supposed to be dead, but he couldn’t help but hope. Maybe they couldn’t have children now due to having died.

It seemed this town as bustling with engery, good and bad. Whatever caused the dead to come back alive had caused quite a lot of problems and tensions around town, so Liam tried to avoid them as much as possible. Also by order of the new Captain Killian. Not that those were actual orders. More the request of a little brother, who had grown so very wise and weary of the world, that Liam could not bear to go against his wishes. He took his time though, to look around the town, to make sure he was at the right place.
Killian said to simply knock once he reached the destination. Normally the man was excellent at navigating through the seas, this place though was so very different. The houses were different in themselves. And he found himself still slightly disturbed by those cars as Emma had called them. She had tried to make sense of them, but it would probably take him a lot of time to get used to them. Finally he knocked and waited, hoping Killian was right and the people here – Emmas parents apparently – would indeed open their doors for him, so his brother could deal with whatever he had to deal in peace, knowing he was with people Killian seemed to trust blindly. If they were only half as spectacular as their daughter, he was sure he’d be impressed with them already. He didn't even bother envisioning a worst case scenario. Just as the door opened, he could at least see a bit of a family resemblance between his brothers love and her. The Captain bowed to her, as was custom.
"You must be Emmas mother. I am Liam Jones."

“He is married, only recently actually.” The wedding had been a bit of a shock to Liam, given the fact, that he had had feelings for Killians wife once. But with the political marriage to protect the princess, well there was no chance for him to ever act upon those feelings and of course she loved Killian and he her. There was no way he could be so selfish. Now he was married with a beautiful wife. Hopefully the two women would get along. “I would suspect you and her, Elizabeth, would get along. You will live in the same household.” And why she, Emma, would naturally be female head of the household, but they did not need formalities here. Elizabeth and Emma could both be friends. He’d have to make her understand, slowly. Her situation was the reason why he felt in no way insulted by what she said.
“You don’t have your lucky stars to thank, but your parents and my Queen.” It was just as simple. “Your parents wanted you to marry for love, I think you know that. As the situation would not allow for that, they wanted nothing but your absolute safety. Given their insistence that the Queen would find a man, who’d tread you right, there was no way she would have arranged for a marriage to a monster with you.” He didn’t know how much she knew, but he had to be blunt. “Your parents wanted you to be married below your status but to someone, who can physically and strategically protect you. My brother and I can do that. We have ships at our disposal, we can protect you from harm, but most importantly, from the Evil Queens point of view you marrying below status would be you relinquishing your claim to the throne – not from your parents point of view. So chances are she’ll leave you alone. They would have never given you to a man who’d treat you wrongly.”

Killian should be here. his brother should be with them, but at the same time Liam was glad he wasn't. This time it was only them, a moment shared so intimately, so very much against protocol it was unlike him. Bu he was glad of every moment of it. Protocol did not matter in love. He should have thrown it to the wind when he began courting her, but he wanted her to have everything, so he strictly followed it. Now, however this was theirs, entirely theirs. They were bonded now. Through her beautiful vows and through the makeshift rings they now shared. The warm feeling could only be described as 'being home' or feeling true love, because he was sure they were true love. Every part of them was.
Without a word he crashed their lips together in a hungry kiss. She was his wife now, unconventionally but he didn't care. They would never again part, so he ran his tongue over her lips in a request of her to open them and allow him to join them further. Until, well he had to simply breathe. Breathing a bit harder than usual, he looked at her after the kiss. "That was.... We're finally married, Liz. No matter what anyone says. I am yours." And she was his. "This time I won't let death part us. This time I won't willingly stop kissing my wife either." With that he kissed her once more, sweet now, though.

Liam loved to see her smile. She seemed so appreciative of the food. It made him happy to see. This princess apparently was no stuck up royal who couldn't be pleased, as a certain someone would say. She could be tempted to offer such a genuine bright smile just by showing her food she knew and liked, with such little effort. Liam knew he could come to care for her deeply, if not fall for her. Her beauty was one thing, but it seemed to be like she was beautiful on the inside as well. Given that they were alone, Liam had no intentions of pretending to be someone he wasn't. She'd see his true self either way.
"I'm actually not sure if that is quail. It might be sea gull or some sort of disguised fhip." Of course it wasn't. Quails were bloody hard to get on a ship, but the cook had gotten. He waited for a moment to let it sink in, before chuckling. "It's quail, don't worry. He got it on the market here. He is quite proud of himself for that, rightfully so. I shall tell him. Or you could do that tomorrow. I am sure he'll enjoy getting a compliment from a pretty Lady instead of his old Captain." He sure would. He was a man who loved to cook, but even more loved it when people enjoyed his cooking. Liam finally sat with her. He reached for the soup first and started to eat.
"There is actually not much to tell, Emma. It's just me and my younger brother. You will meet him soon, he's on this ship as well. Our father abandoned us when we were little, our mother died when we were little, which is why we joined the Navy. So it's just him and me. No one else." He had the feeling Killian might like her - and maybe overwhelm her a little with his open welcome to her. About that he had no doubt.
